What Is The Full Worm Moon?
The Full Worm Moon is the last full moon of Winter, striking in early March, often around 10 days before the Spring Equinox which marks the beginning of Spring, a time where flowers rebloom and bare trees begin to sprout leaves once again.
The Full Worm Moon brings a close to Winter and with it, a celebration that the first three months of the year are behind us and we are still here, struggling to sleep under the full moon... Nice one.
No, really. It's a time to be grateful for time, if you will. Time is a scary concept for most people but I struggle particularly with a fear associated with the passage of time and I'm sure I'm not the only one. The Full Worm Moon offers the strength to think about time in a different way, strength that can sometimes be an effort at other times of the year.
What Should I Do Under This Full Moon?
Reflect. Reflect on the first quarter of the year behind you and remember the goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year and why you set them. Think about the benefits you would reap by achieving those goals and feel it as though it's already happened.
Visualise that you have achieved all of your goals and you'll feel the fire of motivation then make a plan to implement tasks into your life over the next three months that will lead you to the joy of achieving those goals.
Other Names For The Full Worm Moon
The Full Worm Moon is also known as The Full Crow Moon because crows craw at this time of year to signal the end of Winter. It has also been named The Full Crust Moon because of the crusted layer that settles on snow upon thawing and refreezing.
The name of The Full Worm Moon is because this is the time of year when the ground begins to warm and soften so the earthworm casts reappear and with them, the robins.
It has also been known as The Full Sap moon because annual maple tapping commences during this time due to the flow of the maple sap.
The Full Worm Moon Spiritual Significance
New Year may be a time for new beginnings but this full moon almost offers a second chance as it encourages you to close the door on the past as we say goodbye to Winter once again and look forward to the Season ahead.
Full moons have affects on us as living beings whether we realise it or not, ever noticed you struggle to sleep more than usual under a full moon? The full moon in March is a brief time of reflection merging into a time of reorganisation, cleaning, rethinking and doing things that will make your life easier in the long run, such as finally clearing out the cupboard under the stairs.
This attitude might well come as an urge to you or you might find that you don't feel like doing these things at all when the time finally comes but the effects of the full moon can last up to two weeks and it will catch up to you.
Don't Be Discouraged
At this time, you might also look back on projects you have started and have a change of heart or you might find that something you thought was working out, wasn't.
Don't be discouraged, this time is for you to realign with your goals and take a thorough look at everything while asking yourself whether you are on the right track and if not, how can you get back on the track you need to be on to get to where you want to be?
There are 9 months left of the year, you want to make sure you won't be wasting them on ideas that sounded good in January but aren't going to hold up through April.
Don't over analyse here. If everything is working for you then it will continue to work for you. You don't have to find something that will go wrong, this will only apply if you're focusing your energies on something that won't serve you well.
Don't Stumble Through
If you didn't set any goals at the beginning of the year, or if you feel like you don't really know what you want then you should take a look at my article:
