The pay of incumbant teachers placed in different categories, librarians, assist. and deputy librarians, assist. and deputy registrars, registrars, group A staff belonging to various cadres of physical education and examination sections, shall be fixed as per the tables given below. The fitment tables have been authenticated by MHRD and sent to UGC for implementation of revised 6th pay commission scales based on UGC pay packages.
- Teachers' 6th Pay Revision in India
Article was published to highlight the discrepancies in the report of UGC constituted Chaddha Committee. Teaching staff in colleges and universities was not given a fair deal
Fitment tables for readers and L(SG) have been prepared considering 3 years residency requirement. However, two increments that have become due as bunching benefit from 13260 to14520 are forfieted in the fitment table. Bunching benefits are given after one reaches Rs 14940 stage. This has been done perhaps to maintain the disparity between Associate professors and Professors.
Note: Revised Pay band in Table H is Rs 37400-67000 with AGP of Rs 8700. It has been mistakenly written as Rs 15600-39100. It should be read as Rs 37400-67000.

Dear kuchhadia, you've to be fixed in PB III for 3 years initially. It has to be seen whether you are automatically fixed in PB 4 after three years or have to be assessed. I may be wrong in my interpretation. Hence any distinguished guest may guide kuchhadiya if aware of this issue.

teachers (Reader/Lecturer (SG)) and equivalent non-teaching cadres who have retired prior to 1.1.2006, are eligible to draw pension/family pension in pay band IV (Rs 37400-67000) if they have completed 3 and 5 years service in pre-revised scales of 12000-420-18300, respectively. State Govt. has been informed of the decision and teachers in state universities can now draw revised pension if state govt. agrees to it. This is realy a good news. UGC Teachers ignored!
While it is categorically and unequivocally asserted by those at the helm of affairs of the domain of Education in our country at various for a that the role of teachers (of higher education in various Universities in India)is crucial to take India forward as the leader of Human Resources in the world, the inordinate delay on the part of the University Grants Commission in coming out with the fitment formula in respect of the UGC Sixth Pay Commission even after a lapse of three months (the HRD Ministry had issued the Fitment Notification on 4th June 2009)will only send the unfortunate message of how the UGC teachers are ignored, humiliated and deprived of equality in enjoying the fruits of the enhanced privileges given by the Central Cabinet in January 2009. For, the Central Government employees, for whom the Government had implemented the Sixth Central Pay Commission last year after paying the first instalment of arrears (40%), are going to get their second and final instalment of arrears (60%) before the Vijaya Dasami/Diwali festival. When would the UGC teachers get their pay package implemented?
Educationist on August 21, 2009:
College lecturers should have obtained their UG,PG and M.Phil. degrees as a regular student. Degrees bought through correspondence and by distance education should not be recognised for UGC pay scales. In Arts, cross major is a serious problem; it has to be studied by a commission. Some cross major PGs are teaching UG subjects that they did not study.
Dr CN Swamy on July 06, 2009:
The fact that the UGC Pay report approved by the Government does not incorporate the fitment table is strange and defies all logic. It is still more puzzling how the Teachers Unions have not pointed out this glaring blunder in a report. While the employees of the Central Government could have their first instalment of arrears, the UGC is yet to present a fulfledged report enabling the UGC teachers enjoy the new package, even after a lapse of six months.
Even more puzzling is the fact that the MHRD has introduced a strange philosophy of applying an illogical principle of classifying the Readers/Associate Professors into (a) those who have completed 3 years of service and (b) those who have not competed 3 years of service in the cadre as on 01.01.2006. No Pay Commissions have in the past made such a wonderful(!) classification, as adopted above, and thus depriving a just and equitable treatment to this hapless cadre “Readers/Associate Professors” which is the middle position between Lecturer and Professor. It is imperative on the part of the Government to set right this anomaly and do justice to this important cadre among UGC teachers.
Indifference in this regard will only complicate the matters resulting in discrimination and injustice meted out to this cadre.
Let the UGC, the MHRD and Government act and rectify the blunder committed.

Dear ars, fitment table takes int account both the advance increments as well as residency requirement. Revised pay in pay band changes after one reaches at 14940.
Dear SBP, the language of forwarding letter shows that these tables are applicable to both CAS and directly recruited assoc/professor as these are applicable to all those who were in positions (incumbant) on 1.1.2006.
Lokanatha Reddy on June 10, 2009:
Dear Ars Sir,
pay does not matter for fixation purposes if residency conditions are used. point to point fixation on 1-1-2006 is done from the fitment tables if the residency requirement is met equal or more on 1-1-2006.

It is required to fix the pay of Readers who are at 15,000+ or 18,000+ as on 1 jan 2006 and has not completed 3 years. This happens in cases where people get 10 or 12 increments while joining as Reader.

This person was already a Reader in a state run degree collge since May 2005 and was also appeared in the same selection committee in which I got selected and he got rejected. The University has given him the seniority in Readers from the date he joined my university.
