Time: A Mystery

Glimpses to the history of the ancient world are open before us a world of beauty...!

Time is flowing like a river. After the origin of the Universe, how many hours had passed and how many hours need to forward to be covered in the future? When was the beginning and when will be the end of Time? I am trying here to explain some interesting facts about time.

A New Clock

Presently, we use the time system in which 86,400 seconds constitute a day (60 x 60 x 24). It means one rotation of the earth is divided into 86,400 equal seconds.

Can you imagine a new clock in which the speed of seconds increases 16% more than the present seconds? Imagine that 0.864 seconds of the present time system will be one second in that new clock. Thus we can divide the rotation of the earth into 100,000 equal seconds.

Can you imagine that the 24 hours of nowadays diminished to just 10 hours in a new clock? If 2 hours and 24 minutes of the existing time system will become just an hour, and the length of an hour will increase 2.66 times.

Then we can divide the total 100,000 seconds of that new clock into ten, 10,000 seconds should be an hour. These 10,000 seconds can be divided by 100 times into minutes of 100 seconds. Thus 10 hours x 100 minutes x 100 seconds will form a day.

Decimal Clock

Between AD 1793 to 1805, the French Revolutionary Rulers accepted the decimal time system as describes above. In the rest of the world, the earth needed 24 hours for one rotation within a day, but only in France, earth needed just 10 hours to complete a rotation due to the decimal clock....!

At midnight, the clock rang 24 times in other parts of the world at that period, but in France, the clocks rang only 10 times....!. In other parts of the world, when people slept 8 hours per day, the French men took only three hours for rest. Also, French people used just 3 hours to work for their livelihood, while others had to work 8 hours for the same remuneration...!

All of the above was due to the acceptance of the decimal clock in France after the French Revolution. The French revolutionary leaders also accepted the Decimal Calendar in lieu of the Gregorian Calendar.

In a Decimal Calendar, One week takes 10 days and one year ended in 10 months also. The reason behind these changes was, the utter hatred of the French Revolutionary leaders with the Religious and Royal systems, which they wanted to dig into the soil of history....!

Every nation now follows seven days week system. The name of weeks represents the name of celestial bodies. Sunday represents Sun; Monday- Moon; Tuesday - Mars; Wednesday - Mercury; Thursday - Jupiter; Friday - Venus; and Saturday - Saturn. In almost nations, in almost languages, the meaning of the weeks are the same. In India, there are two language groups that exist - Aryan ( Indo- European) and Dravidian. In India, the names and meanings of weeks are as same as the above European system. This may be due to the reason that the origin of the Aryan language Sanskrit and the European languages are from the same source. The Sanskrit language exerts a great influence not only on Indian languages but also on almost South East Asian languages like Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Lao, Nepali, Sinhala, Burmese, Khmer, Mongolian, Javanese, etc through the spread of Buddhism and Hinduism from India. All the above languages follow the Classical languages of India like Sanskrit and Prakrit or Pali for their cultural and religious ceremonies and names. East Asian languages like Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Tibetan are following the same system for the naming of weeks. Semitic languages like Hebrew, Arabian and the languages influenced by Arabian such as Persian, Kurdish, Turkish are exempted from the above system and Day one to Day Seven are the names of the week. After six working days, there is a weekend for resting and to entertain. In most nations, Sunday is a day for rest and leisure.

But in Soviet Russia from 1929 to 1940, a different type of week system had existed. The Soviet Rulers tested the Five Days and Six Days week system during that period. But these systems had failed and the Seven Day system reintroduced on 27th June 1940 in the Soviet Union.

A specific time is required for the Earth for one rotation on its imaginative axis and one revolution around the sun. Day and year are formed on the basis of this. All other concepts of time like a second, minute, hour, week, month, and others are formed out of the imagination of man. This imagination of man helped him for best time management and high progress of mankind.

In the Gregorian calendar, Seven months have 31 days, while only four months have 30 days and February is an exceptional case. If the year 2014 begins on Wednesday, 2015 will begin on Thursday, and 2016 will begin on Friday, but 2017 will begin on Sunday. It will begin on Sunday because 2016 will have 366 days as it is a Leap year. French and Soviet Rulers teach us we can change them again and again for best time management.

DO you know how many calendars exist in the world? Every nation, every religion, every race, every sub-race, and every language group have their own Calendars. In India, our national calendar is Shaka Era, Chaitra is the first month and Phalguna is the last month. Buddhist Calendar also follows the same system and names as the Hindu Calendar. This is because both religions originated in the same land and co-related to each other. Kerala is my State in India which follows Malayalam or Kollam Era calendar to celebrate our local festivals like Thiruvonam, Thiruvathira, Vishu, etc. Every state in India has its own calendar. Kali Era and Vikrama Era are some oldest calendars in India. Muslims Calendar is Hijri which follows the lunar year system with the duration of 12 months of 364 to 365 days. In every part of the world, the Gregorian calendar is now accepted for their civil purposes and their national or local calendar for their religious purposes.

Evolution of Time System

The time systems like an hour and months are formed in today's form after the evolution of millenniums. Many changes had occurred and it may be the subject of changes in the future. We can not predict the existence duration of humankind in the world. It may be survived millions of years ahead. If it occurs, no doubt that the time system will change again and again.

Time Management of a person is very essential for his success in his life. A lazy person does not care much about the flow of time. But a victorious take his whole life span within his palm. He makes a whole life planning and also changes his plans at certain points. He will be very happy, even at the dusk of his life. But a lazy one may immerse in gloomy even in the mid or hot period of his life. Through best time management and planning, we can diminish the intensity of the tragedies in our life and can rise from the ashes like a Phoenix.

All the time is evolved on the basis of rotation and revolution of the globe. A day and night and a year will occur spontaneously without stop, even if all of the clocks made by humans are at rest. All-time management systems invented by humans are more sharp and accurate than its beginning. It is a fact that some obscurity that persists there. For example, in a decimal clock, we can easily find out how much percent of the time had passed. When at 09: 10; 10 in the decimal clock, 91.01% of the day had reached. It is not easy in the present 24-hour system of the clock to find out the percent of the time of the day. Also, the name of the week and the day of the months should be harmonious than the present system. The best arrangement of time system is the best way for best time management, which will help humans to lead a more good life and to serve the other co-existing living organism in the contemporary world.
