Auguste Comte: Father of Social Science, Sociology, Socialism, Secular Humanism, Fascism, and Communism

The very root of Socialism, Secular Humanism, Fascism, and Communism grows from the soil of deep resentment against the Christian Cosmos and Christ Himself. These sister ideologies rest on a common foundation of the Philosophy of Positivism, the brainchild of Auguste Comte (1798-1857).

Comte, the ‘Father of Socialism,’ propounded that Positivism would change the world because it would “for the first time supply complete satisfaction to all the tendencies of the many-sided nature of man.”

He meant that men and women need an object of worship because religious devotion is at the core of our nature. His solution was a new Religion of Man, to concentrate “our feelings, our thoughts and our actions around Humanity,” as a substitute for God. Then, a “Statue of Humanity will have as its pedestal the Altar of God,” and with God eliminated, “Man will be the new Supreme Being.”

A New Religion of Humanity

Auguste Comte regularly expressed bitter contempt towards the Gospel, continually criticized its doctrines, and showed a particularly resentful hatred for Jesus, for whom he wished "total exclusion from the earth.” He describes Jesus: "That person who contributed nothing to mankind, essentially a charlatan."

Since "Christianity exalts the individual," it must go, to make way for Collectivism. He even proposed a replacement for the Christian Trinity: "Space, Earth, and Humanity."

Now Comte knew, "No society can maintain itself without a priesthood of some kind," so he wrote that we needed a "priesthood of humanity," which would be an organized priesthood of scientists, exercising "a new spiritual power, capable of replacing the Church, utilizing education."

He believed that scientific experts should organize and manage the world and he coined the word ‘Sociology’ for the science he proposed for these experts.

Social Science must reorganize all of Society. So, Sociology was to create a new Religion of Humanity, which would involve deciding political issues using science only, and making politics the object of religious devotion.

The same faith that was devoted to God, with no private precinct reserved for the self, must be transferred to the new religion. Comte also wrote that the whole notion of ‘individual rights’ comes from belief in God, which he intends to make a thing of the past because “It is as false as it is immoral.” Only the Collective has any rights, not any person, he ruled.

Sociology, Eugenics, Propaganda

Man had now become an object for science to study, and by scrutinizing men and women "social engineers could transform society." Sociology would be applied to manipulate men, women, and especially children.

The first big idea was Eugenics, to hasten the evolution of man by directing his reproduction, preventing procreation by undesirables through sterilization, abortion, or infanticide; and to utilize special breeders to create a superior race.

The next big idea was propaganda, to exploit the underlying psychology of men, women, and children, to imprison their minds, to put their minds in a matrix affixed from above—well, from men given power over us ordinaries. But in reality, it is a matrix from below.

The Spirit of the Antichrist

Comte offered Christian Europe a new god to worship—the human race. He was an Atheist but intensely religious—devoted to his new Religion of Man with himself as High Priest.

The problem with Christianity, Comte thought, was that it is based on the individual—you are saved or not saved all by yourself. No one else can choose salvation for you, and you cannot choose it for anyone else.

In actuality, he knew virtually nothing about the Gospel or the Bible—and yet presented himself as an expert on both.

To read his later writings are to read the words of a madman inventing fables and illusions and starting to believe them himself. He is the grandfather of those leftists today who demand that the public square be scrubbed clean of Christianity. He declared, "Let there be no doubt about the fact that the servants of Humanity are ousting the servants of God, root, and branch, from all control of public affairs, as incapable of really concerning themselves with such affairs and understanding them properly."

Henri De Lubac

The anti-Christian progressives, as noted by Henri De Lubac, “often preserved a number of values that were Christian in origin; but, having cut these values off from their source, they were powerless to maintain them in their full strength or even in their authentic integrity.

“Spirit, reason, liberty, truth, brotherhood, justice: These great things, without which there is no true humanity, were instituted by Christianity, and quickly become unreal when no longer seen as a radiation from God, when faith in the living God no longer provides their vital substance.”

Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Dostoyevsky Foresaw the Evil

Dostoyevsky saw the dangers inherent in Socialism, “that unclean and decadent thing that embraced Atheism.” He wrote, “To annihilate God is the first point in their program and the first watchword spread by their tracts. They undertake to build up humanity without God.”

The Socialists sought to empty Heaven, destroy faith in God, and secularize man so completely that there is nothing left about him that is considered sacred or transcendent. Only then can Science save humankind and deliver us to Utopia.

Dostoyevsky perceived early on that the Socialists intended for ten percent of humankind—themselves—to rule the world—and if necessary, they might exterminate the other ninety percent of the human race. Because only then would the world be populated solely by “educated men, who, organizing themselves according to scientific principles, would live happily ever after.”

He made a prediction, over forty years before the Russian Revolution: “Social systems that have no Christian basis (the only one capable of transforming man) inevitably become systems of violence and slavery.”

He said that the Socialists had formed an alliance with Satan, “the terrible and intelligent Spirit, the Spirit of negation and nothingness, the Spirit of the Antichrist.”

By denying that human beings are living reflections of our Creator and Father God, the principle of human dignity is gone, and souls have no infinite, absolute value, and are thus reduced to being means—not ends in themselves. Thus is sown the seeds of totalitarian ideologies.

As Henri De Lubac proclaimed: “It is then that Christianity, with its conception of man, comes once again to give hope to the world, without presenting to man suspect novelties, but strengthened by its unchanged doctrine, it comes to save all.

“What it did for the ancient soul recommends it for humanity today. It comes to gather all that is sought by humanity, the best of its effort and the best of its thought, to give it foundation from the deepest source, the most certain origin of man.

“Christian realism is a realism of fullness. Without hiding man’s misery from him, it shows him his nobility as well. A future is being prepared in which we are all invited. The universe has a meaning to which man is the key.

“The current ills of man cannot be reduced to some poor organization of society. The ills of man are infinitely more profound, more mysterious, his situation infinitely more tragic and his alienation more rigorous. This horrible invasive leprosy is called SIN.”

Life is a Spiritual Battle for the Souls of Men and Women

Life is a spiritual battle for the souls of men and women. On one side of this battle, God is the ultimate source of reality, law, salvation, and truth; on the other, man is the source of all those things.

A worldview with Man as god will inevitably produce a society that is sick and depraved. Just look at the history of the world, and you must admit man makes for a lousy god.

But man as god is precisely what the Secular Humanists demand so they can dispense with God's standards of good and evil and replace them with, “Whatever produces pleasure is good; whatever causes pain is evil,” as the only standard.

You are right about the Founding Fathers. The basis of the Declaration of Independence was the biblical principles that the Founders lived and governed by.

The influence of the Bible was so instilled into the hearts and the minds of the Founders, as well as the People, that it is no wonder that we find its influence all through the Constitution as well.

An independent study by the University of Houston to determine what was the most prominent influence in drafting the Constitution gathered documents from the founding era that led to our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. They wanted to see what our Founding Fathers read, quoted, and who they were influenced by. They collected 15,000 records, and from those archives , they found 3,154 quotes. It took the research team ten years to document the source of each citation. The most quoted source was the Holy Bible, cited four times more than the next most used reference.

Vivian Coblentz on April 08, 2019:

You sure know how to write articles that make the reader think.....and then draw parallels to the same tactics being employed in our modern age. Churchill nailed it when he said the fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists. We are seeing that time and again. Another superb job, James.

Chris Merritt from Pendleton, Indiana on April 08, 2019:

Incredible Hub! Your journalistic approach to the truth is brilliant. You merely spell out the facts and the truths in a fashion that anyone can understand. Please keep on doing what you do James! You are contributing to the restoration of this Nation more than you may realize.

One thing that popped into my mind as I read this hub, is how our forefathers applied God our Creator as the foundation to our great nation...how the principals from our Bible was applied to our Constitution and how American Exceptionalism was born....

This is a must read...thanks James!
