Multicultural Society & Safe Environment

As I said earlier, students get the opportunity to study in a multicultural society. Students are trained to be better humans with more wide horizons. Canada is the first country that officially declared multiculturalism as a policy through the establishment of the 1971 Multiculturalism Policy of Canada, which affirms the rights of all citizens regardless of race, ethnic origin, language, or religion. Nearly all of the globe's ethnic groups are represented in Canadian society. This way, students get a chance to live with different people from different countries.

Cost of Study & other expenses

Considering Canada as your study abroad destination, knowing about education costs in Canada is certainly significant. Canadian Institutes charge lower tuition fees for international students than their counterparts in competing countries and, at the same time, maintain excellent educational quality. So as compare to other countries, the cost of study and other expenses in Canada are very reasonable. In Canada, tuition fees are affordable and international students are permitted to work part-time during their studies. During vacations, they are allowed to work full time. This way, students can earn sufficient to meet their expenses. Affordability of cost is one of the main reasons why students choose Canada as their study destination.

In Canada, the average course fee varies from CAN$ 8000 to CAN$ 16000 per year, whereas the cost of living for international students is estimated as CAN$ 400 to CAN$ 700 per month. Living cost also varies with living style of the individual student. In the same way course fee also depends upon the subject and duration of the study.

This cost is based on generalized figures only. It varies according to the institution and program you are enrolled in, your location, and your living choices. Tuition fees for international students vary across provinces and programs. It is recommended to check all details before making a final decision to study in Canada.

Post Study Work

Eligible international graduates are authorized to work full-time after their studies. Canada is offering post-study working rights. If you are completing a course having a duration of fewer than 2 years but more than 8 months, you will be eligible for a work permit for a period no longer than the length of your program of study. Similarly, if your course duration is 2 years or more, you may be eligible for a work permit for up to 3 years.

Visa & other requirements

Once you have decided to study in Canada, the first thing is selecting a college or university and the proposed course of your study. As Canada is a vast country with different provinces, selecting the right college and University is a significant step. While choosing college and University, the focus should be the right course and a better career. In this selection, you may take the help of some education consultant. Most of the leading colleges and universities have a list of recruitment agents in different countries and areas. As this write-up is focused on Indian students, a list of education consultants in India can be searched.

  • Designated Learning Institutes
To apply for a study permit on or after June 1, 2014, you will need a letter of acceptance from a designated learning institution.

As the admission and visa application process has many stages and may take approximately 8 to 10 weeks, you start the process well in time. Canadian colleges and universities normally have three intakes a year. These are January, May & September every year. You have to check the availability of a particular course in particular intake. International students are expected to start planning for their studies in Canada 6 to 8 months in advance. Once you have selected your proposed course and college, you have to send the application along with the requisite application fee for the admission offer letter. College may take time of few weeks to issue admission offer letters.

International students who wish to study in Canada must take a study visa or study permit. Student Partners Program is replaced by SDS

SPP was launched in April 2009 to improve the recruitment of students. Initially, it was introduced in India only, but later on, it was extended in China. Under this program, the admission and visa application process are streamlined to make it faster and result-oriented.

SPP has now been replaced by a new study visa system for Indian students. Student Direct Stream (SDS) is launched for India, China, Vietnam & the Phillippines. This Program is a substitute for the SPP system for Indian students, and it is made to boost up the study visa processing. Students under SDS will now have more choices of courses & college selection.

Under this stream, now students get more choices of Colleges & universities. Now, all the Canadian Colleges and Institutes with registered DLI Numbers are under the SDS visa program. This will fasten up the Study Visa permit process of Canada for Indian Students. GIC is the same as it was under the SPP program. Students send $ 10000 to their GIC account to cover their one-year living cost in CANADA.

Another major change under SDS is that now student sends one-year tuition fee upfront before apply for his visa permit, whereas under SPP, he was able to send a one-semester fee.
