Right Hand and Left Hand - Using the Subconscious Mind

The obvious physical extensions of our mind

Hands reveal much, shape, size, - these aspects including the ever-changing lines which reveal the pattern of our thought

Using the unconscious mind

One way to tap into our subconscious mind and to obtain an ‘inner contact’ with others, including our highest spiritual conceptions (with practice) is to use the Dominant & Non-dominant Hand Method. Simply put, take a piece of paper and pen and write questions with your dominant hand - which in most people is the right - and allow answers to come back to you through the non-dominant hand - usually the left. You can hold a pen in each hand. This is a well known method and has been around for years. Perhaps you’d like to try it for yourself. Just takes a little patience and persistence to get going. So don’t give up the first couple of times you try.

The right hand is the dominant hand in 85% of people

Write your questions with your dominant hand; receive your answers through the other.

Using the hand you usually don't use

I thought some of my Hub friends might like to learn the sort of conversations one can hold with oneself. I say ‘oneself’ for I believe all human beings, living and dead, and perhaps even greater beings, are linked as one through the infinite depths of what we refer to as our ‘subconscious mind.’

The quality of your replies will depend upon your interests, and your perhaps even more importantly, on the level of your spiritual development at this time.

Left Hand – Right Hand Conversations

with my Higher Self 28th February 2011

Here I ask by writing if the contact could be a speaking coach

Me (R.H) Public speaking coach?

LH. Your gift for teaching will enable you to excel at this. You’ll need patience, persistence and a willingness not to take ownership of other’s behavior.

RH. Would Self-knowledge come into it?

L. Using your intuition, you’ll know where and when to talk of the Inner Knowledge.

R. Is this my highest aspiration?

L. Your highest aspiration is to know your real self and to become it.

R. Is this possible?

L. You’re already on the patch.

R. “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven – Am I really seeking it?

L. Your life has been and continues to be just that. ‘All else’ is the term used to refer to all of those things you desire.

R. Including recognition as a top public speaker?

L. Yes. That is coming as fast as you will let it.

R. As fast as I will let it?

L. Your desire for this recognition, and it is a common enough one, is hampered by your indecision to pick out that one particular goal that you want but cannot as yet consciously indentify.

Using the subconscious mind.

The non-dominant hand - once developed - is the better artist

R. I thought it was to keynote speak and run educationals and even workshops on Self Knowledge for people exclusive of old, retirees, e.g. 20 – 65 year olds.

(Note: I already run such courses for retirees from 2001 to 2008 and wanted to teach other age groups)

L. Your bracketing ages places limitations on what you can do. Your desire is to teach Spirituality, is it not?

R. Yes.

L. Then teach it to all who would like to learn of it.

R. It seems my desire is not sufficiently strong that I will undertake the necessary actions to bring this about, e.g. advertising, venue booking, meal arrangements, et cetera. Perhaps because I think I won’t draw enough people?

L. You’re scared that this will all come to nothing. You need a team. Leave XXXXX out of it. He has his own concerns.

R. I’m thinking: An organization already set up in which I can become part of that team as an educational trainer, teacher, speaker. Your views?

L. You’ve already looked at that before. Set your goal! Work up the passion and do it yourself.

R. Why do I hesitate about committing to that here and now?

L. You’re not hesitant. You want more than this. You’ve already done this, and done it well.

R. Yes. But do You know what I want – or at deeper levels, believe what I want?

L. You want peace. Everyone wants peace. Bring peace to others and you are the greatest of teachers.

R. And I can do this with my classes?

L. Draw those who are ready to really listen, and you will be doing the world’s greatest service. They’ll love you for it and you will love yourself completely and without reservation. I will be the consciousness in you, my son.

My non-dominant hand's views on my Affirmations

(Note: Then, with my right hand, I write out a few affirmations: Here they are)

I am now motivated and fully equipped to bring peace, purpose, and prosperity into people’s lives.

To run the best classes on Self-understanding in Sydney.

To run the best classes on Self-understanding in Australia.

LH...This is feasible.

To be in demand as the best Self-understanding presenter and trainer in Australasia.

LH. This is, too.

To be in demand as the best Self-understanding presenter and teacher in the entire English-speaking world.

LH. Not so easy but, once again, not impracticable.

R. Is this, to Your knowledge, right for me at this time?

L. Love yourself fully and all things are possible to you. Make the decision to free yourself from WANTING and just go with your inner direction.

R. Am I a channel for God’s love?

L. Yes, you are. But still choose a path to Me through service by using your skills.

The session ended.

So dear reader, that’s it. I hope you got something out of Right and Left Hand Conversations, Using the Subconscious Mind.

Your article is damn practical which I had heard in the past but never practised it. Now onwards I will follow tips you have given here.

Tom Ware, thank you

Patrick Bernauw from Flanders (Belgium) on August 16, 2015:

Fascinating stuff you have here!

viveresperando from A Place Where Nothing Is Real on February 04, 2013:

:) I have at times switched hand while writing. I find sometimes that I learn from what I write not write about what I have learned. Do you ever have the need, urgency to write with your non-dominant hand? I have also lost myself while painting and end up switching hand from dominant to non dominant. I used to love painting, but the losing time in got to be too much not sure if I am expressing myself well, or even what I am asking. lol .. but I stopped painting because I would lose time and then "awaken" after painting and I have been using my non dominant hand. Has this ever happened to you by any chance?

Hi, teresapelka,

Can only advise you to read Lucia Cappachione's book, The Power of your other hand. Try it. Remember, as Dr. Wayne Dyer said in the title of one of his best sellers "You see it when your believe it." So keep an open mind and give it more than one or two cursory tries.

You could start by just learning to do ordinary writing with it. You be surprised how quickly you'll learn.

Buzzbee from The County of the Winkies in Oz on September 24, 2012:

Tusita: I will certainly read the Lucia Cappachione book when I can! Thanks!

Teresa Pelka from Dublin, Ireland on September 24, 2012:

@Tusitala Tom,

I'm not convinced as for this 'receiving' thing. How is it you receive with the hand?

kjforce from Florida on September 23, 2012:

Tusitala Tom...Very well written and researched hub..I found it interesting and G-daughter signs and there is much emotion expressed in doing so..this also is controlled by the mind...

Tom Ware (author) from Sydney, Australia on September 23, 2012:

I'm assuming your mean written language here, tereapelka. Yes, in writing. But you can receive and draw pictures with the non-dominant hand, too. In fact, it is believed that, with practice, the left hand drawings are finer and in more detail.

Teresa Pelka from Dublin, Ireland on September 22, 2012:

I remember myself as a kid, just out of my growing mind's contrariness, trying my left hand for writing. I was even as succesful as to invoke questions - 'which hand was it, in the end?'

Well, curiosity is one thing. Your 'hand conversations' are all in language?

Tom Ware (author) from Sydney, Australia on September 22, 2012:

Hi, Buzzbee. An American woman by name of Lucia Cappachione wrote a book called, The Power of Your Other Hand. I read it several years back. Worth a read.

Buzzbee from The County of the Winkies in Oz on September 21, 2012:

Well that's an interesting experiment! I'm sure to try it soon. I play the piano, and often wonder if my left hand is giving different expression to the music than my right hand is...but don't really know how to tell. But with your idea it is possible to see the differences.
