The turtle exhibit was very impressive. While you might not be able to tell from the photograph, these turtles was incredibly large.

Greensboro, North Carolina is a city that is covered with "Carolina blue" skies on a typical day and if you go for a walk, most days you will be getting lots of sunshine. It is no different on the grounds of the Greensboro Science Center. We were there recently on a beautifully sunny day. The walking trails outside lead to various outdoor exhibits of animals including monkeys, an anteater, and a wolf, as well as the farmhouse with llamas, ponies and goats for example. There was a main popular attraction of a tiger exhibit including two tigers but sadly both tigers died not very long ago (late last year) around the age of 13 years old. Photos of the tigers that used to inhabit the exhibit have been put up on display to remember them.

  • Many types of animals have been acquired for exhibit at the Greensboro Science Center. For young students on a field trip, the Greensboro Science Center offers an exciting and enriching learning experience.
  • The wonderment in the eyes of young children is always a terrific thing to see. That “Wow, I’ve never seen that before. That is amazing!” look. There are many opportunities for a look like that to come across your child’s face at the Greensboro Science Center.

Heavy bristle brushes are offered at the area where children and adults can pet and brush the goats for example. The kids on the field trips, visiting from various local schools on that day seemed to enjoy this activity immensely. Among the photos included in this HubPages hub about the Greensboro Science Center, you will see one photograph with a large white goat that is lounging, lying down. This goat got lots of attention from the children that went up to it to brush it. It did not try to run away. It was used to the attention.

Beyond the outdoor walking trails and zoological exhibits, there is also very much to see inside the main building of the Greensboro Science Center. It all depends on what you want to see first and what activities you want to tackle first.

  • Many people can be found walking around on self-guided tours of the facilities at the Greensboro Science Center.
  • For the school children, teachers and parent volunteers were leading the children in small groups of four or more and walking around at the Greensboro Science Center.
  • The small groups of children would re-convene with their entire larger class, perhaps to go watch an educational movie in the theater or to go for a specific talk, such as the lecture about the cold blooded animals versus the warm blooded animals for example.

The staff at the Greensboro Science Center puts dedicated effort into the demonstrations and lectures including power point presentations and detailed explanations to help children to learn.

On a lower level of the Greensboro Science Center main building, there is a large cafeteria style area with tables and chairs, where the school children can take a lunch break, bringing brown paper bag lunches that they packed from home.

There is also a café upstairs, where lunch can be purchased. The café offers lots of foods and drinks that both adults and children can enjoy. From coffee lattes for the adults to French fries and sweet treats. On the recent day that we visited, the staff working at the café were friendly, helpful and polite with the people ordering their food and drink selections.

Whether for a family trip or a school field trip, the Greensboro Science Center in Greensboro, North Carolina is a fun place to visit.
