COVID-19 pandemic changes everything in the educational system. Teachers need to embrace these changes in order for them to perform their duties and obligations accordingly. Through the Learning Delivery Modality (LDM2) Modules for Teachers, they are informed of the best ways in delivering the lessons to the learners. They need to become creative, innovative, and participative in everything that help them in the execution of their assigned tasks.
The opening of classes in the new normal is fast approaching. Teachers are busy doing various stuffs like designing the class and teacher's program, planning the contents of the weekly home learning plan, preparing the assessment materials, and framing the individual monitoring plan. The whole day in the school is not enough to finish these works so they tend to continue working when they are already at home. They are giving their best in the performance of their duties for the benefits of the learners.
The class program, teacher's program, and weekly home learning plan must jive with one another. These serve as the guide of the parents in the performance of their duties as learning facilitators. The class program is the class schedule of the learner. It contains the specific time that the learner is expected to do in every learning area. For this new normal, most of the class schedules adopted the two (2) subjects per day. Having this kind of class schedule, teachers are expected to teach for four (4) days. A day is allotted for the learners to have practice in reading, writing, and arithmetic. Furthermore, it is specified in the class program the varied activities that the learners need to do and accomplish for the given time allotment. It is a necessity that the learners must be familiar with their class schedules to avoid conflict in the performance of their duties.
The teacher's program shows the schedule of work of the teachers - that includes the physical reporting and work from home activities. It is noted from the class program that teachers have time to entertain the queries of the parents and the learners. The teacher’s program serves as the schedule of activities of the teachers whether they are in school or at home. It is very important that they know the sequence of their work in order for them to be reminded of what they need to accomplish for the day. Likewise, attending to other related tasks is the secondary concern of the teachers because they need to see to it that the modules are ready for the following week, and all other activities are planned accordingly.
The weekly home learning plan carries the learning competency, learning tasks, and mode of delivery of the modules. The learning competency is taken from the Most Essential Learning Competency which is primarily based from the K to 12 curriculum guide. The learning tasks contain the detailed work to be done by the learners until they finish the module. Finished module will then be submitted to teacher for checking its completeness of the required activities to be accomplished and for recording purposes in the individual monitoring plan of the accomplished tasks for the week. Thus, this serves as a guide to the parents or the learning facilitators of what their children or learners are expected to accomplish in every learning area.
Weekly assessment is given to the learners to determine their learning progress in every learning area. Each subject is composed of five (5) questions for grades one to three and 10 questions for grades four to six. A question for parent is placed at the end of the page. The question focused on the ways of learning of the learner. The School Learning Assessment Committee decided to craft a question for the parent in order to determine how their child is learning the lesson. It is an offshoot to have an assurance that the parents are providing guidance and assistance to studies of their children. Furthermore, this serves as the basis of the assigned committee to consider the ways of learning in formulating the learning assessment. It is also requested to the parents to let their children do alone the weekly assessment because this activity serves as the basis of the quarterly grades of the learners. Thus, honesty and integrity in answering the weekly assessment is considered a dilemma that has adverse effect to the grades of the learners.
The individual learner monitoring plan is intended for the learners who lagged behind. It is also suited to those learners who have difficulty in coping-up with the lessons for the week. Usually, this form is given after a week of the present lesson because teachers need to check first the performance of every learner for the week. Likewise, the results of the weekly assessment and even phone interview or video conference are considered in the crafting the contents of this form. It is prepared to provide assistance to the learners in order for them to understand the lesson. In a regular class setting, this is considered as the remedial learning plan.
As a whole, there is so much to prepare for the new normal in education. Teachers need to manage their time in doing such because there are other things they need to attend to. They still have other obligations to perform. So, it is not easy to become a teacher these days because most of the time, when the budget of the school is not enough, most of them use their personal money for the expense of the materials they need in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.

We’ve been trying to prepare all these things. Because of unending preparations We even say,.. “the government profited much from us today”. But... are we really ready for the new normal of SY 2020-2021? Are we really ready for the actual situation of the new normal of education? Well I think... it’s only the actual situation who can give us answers to these questions.
