Humans of the Library

I am a Librarian by profession as well as an author of different online articles and a textbook writer.

How it started?

It all started from scratch that I just shared some of my Hubpages articles to one of the famous librarian bloggers in the Philippines. She also shared my articles to our colleagues to promote my articles to them. Informing her network of friends about who am I? I am very match flattered for what she did. I also do the same. Share her articles too to my network of friends.

And the rest is history.

Sunday, 1:46 in the afternoon, Manila Time

She started conversation with her new blog project such as (note: I edited some of the words because she sent me some words written in Filipino dialect):

"Good pm! I'm planning a new series on my blog to feature about librarians. I'm planning to interview some Filipino librarians at least twice a month . If you feel like it, I have 5-6 questions to ask you and you can also add any thoughts or pictures. If you're okay with this, I can send you the questions in Word so you can send it back. No pressure, just take as long as you like to answer and short answers are okay. Thanks!"

I replied with: "No worries, it is my pleasure."

She replied with: "Great, thanks! Here is the word file with the questions. You can also write/talk about your LIS-related books. No pressure, just take as long as you need and short answers are okay. Thanks!"

Then sent the attachment.

Then, after few minutes, I sent back my answers.

I appreciated that much specifically with the introduction of her blog about me. She introduced me just like, she knows a lot about me, even if, we haven't seen each other in person. We made a connection because of our own blogs.

I feel lucky

I feel lucky because as I am reading her blog about "Humans of the Library", I am the first librarian whom she featured. It is my pleasure to be featured. I do not know, why I am the first one who featured in that blog project. Maybe, I am the first one who responded with her request. Laughing out loud.

I created this hub not to lift my name on high. I just created this hub in order to give credits for what she did to me. I am very lucky, for all my accomplishments with being a librarian for more than 20 years, a colleague in the field of librarianship appreciates my accomplishments. Of course, my accomplishments in this field will not be possible if my former employers, former students, former co-workers, former classmates, former professors, publishers and literary agents became my partners in doing all things right.

Humans of the Library

Who am I right now?

By the way, although, I am not in the field of librarianship anymore. After two decades of being a librarian, half a decade as a library science instructor, more than two decades as a writer for general readers, I decided to become a customer service representative (CSR) in a business processing outsourcing (BPO) industry.

After leaving the librarianship career, my first BPO company was with the American Telecommunication Company, then my second and current BPO company is with the Australian Telecommunication Company.

What's the similarities and differences between being a librarian and as a CSR in the BPO?

Scroll to Continue

The way, you entertain your customers or clients. In the library, you attend the concern of the customers in actual, face to face client. While as in BPO, you entertain your customers or clients via telephone. They're similar in terms of customer service oriented.

Am I happy what I am doing right now as a CSR in the BPO industry?

Although, as of this writing, I rendered with American Telecommunication Company for three and half months only, while for Australian Telecommunication Company, I am currently rendering two months, six days and counting. No idea, if I will be leaving as a CSR in the BPO industry soon and going back to be as a librarian in the future or stay for good in the BPO industry.

What I can only promise for now, I am still continuing my online writing career as well as my textbook writing.

I will end this hub with this: "READ, READ, READ in order to be fruitful!"
