We are all just human beings that need some affection, either its bad or good, it does not matter. That affection, that bond that we have or want is what fulfills us. However, when you look at today’s society, you can’t help to wonder whether this way is normal. Below are some of the factors that are affecting our families today.
1. Unsupervised children
Children from a young age will learn traits and values from family. The first gesture a child will show is “smiling” or “crying”. These gestures are observed by a child to understand the behaviour of his or her family. From this the child will learn how other members are treated and how to behave accordingly. This will include cooperation, respect and sympathy. However not every parent actually has time to be with their child and need to “make a living” in order to provide for that child. So while parents are working, children return home after school are unsupervised. So what do they do during this time? Some will eat, some will engage in personal care, some will play or watch television and some will actually do their studies and homework. However, unsupervised children are more inclined to create problems. So how can we prevent this? A suitable schedule with activities after school like sports, art or even music lessons is a healthy way of keeping your children disciplined and out of trouble. However, studies have shown that “alone time” for child can also be a good thing, it gives the child time to relax and do what they want from the busy schedule of school and family time.
2. Working women
Previously women would stay at home and the men would go to work and provide for the family. However that has drastically changed over the years. Women nowadays have become the sole-provider in the families. The question here is, is this normal, and is this beneficial to the family? Research has shown that women who are unhappy in their marriages will file for divorce only if she working and not when she is unemployed and, according to Pew Research Center“about half of survey respondents say that children are better off if a mother is at home and doesn't hold a job”. In my opinion, women have tasted independence and do not want to go back to their boring housewife ways. However some women admit the fact that they are really doing two jobs, once they finished with work, their household chores commence and this may lead to disharmony in the family.
3. Unemployed dads
Due to the fact that women are the sole-providers in the family, men over-all are becoming househusbands, in fact research has shown that the number of “househusbands” has tripled over the last 15 years. But do they want this? Is this their purpose to become househusbands? In some relationships this may work and some it won’t. In some cases this may cause a man to suffer anxiety, frustration and even anger. However some reveal that they are happy to have the opportunity to stay at home and bring up their children while the mother works but, there is a downside to this switching of roles, some househusbands say this makes them feel “less of a man” while others admitted that looking after kids is harder than maintaining a job.
Unfortunately these days the economy is not the greatest and it getting harder to provide and have a comfortable life. This can also take a toll on the family relationships. According to studies, parent-child connectedness is an important factor for growing children however, many parents to today stress about their financial situation. This stress can cause a gap with children and parent, affecting their bond. In return the child may become depressed and start distancing himself or herself from his or her fellow peeps. Therefore it is important for parents to maintain a balance and spend quality time with their children.
Over all there are ways to overcome this factors and problems. Being mindful and understanding these issues, is the first step to having a better and comfortable relationship with the family. Indeed, there are many other factors that may take effect. Therefore this article The Five Factors for a Phenomenal Family may just do the trick.

It is always interesting to see a movie or TV show where everyone in the family is in an electronic world of his own. Roommates who take little notice of one another.
