Can a Broken Heart be Healed?

When Theresa writes poetry, the inspiration comes from her or her family's true life experiences, which results in dramatic poetry.

"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love." (1 John 4:18)

Heart to Heart

From my heart to your heart.

From my heart to your heart.

A Dedication from My Heart to Your Heart

This is dedicated to all those very lovely friends here in HP Town whose loving hearts have been stomped on by those who are just out to collect as many hearts as they are able, despite the pain inflicted and left behind. I have read the most heartrending poetry about how true hearts have been broken into pieces. All of these lovely persons (both men and women) are such caring and loving persons who deserve to be treated better and know of that true love from another.

Enjoy this very dramatic video! "Who do you think you are?"

That Emotional Aching Inside Your Chest

One can experience a “broken heart” when one is deeply disappointed or grieved over a life circumstance when we lose a loved one, whether a spouse, child or even a beloved pet.

Then there is the other matter of when one’s heart is completely shattered to pieces by someone we thought truly loved us, but it was just a big lie. And to further the agony that person attempts to come back into our lives and continue to further damage our already broken hearts.

Not a Pretty Sight

Jar of hearts

Jar of hearts

What does Your Picture of Love Look Like?

Does your picture of love look like this?

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

If your picture of love looks a lot different than that of the above-quoted scripture of what true love really looks like, then there may be cause for concern.

Let's Peek Inside Your Heart and See What is Going On . . . Well Maybe not too much Peeking : )

hearts-in-a-jar-you-the-collector

After my morning devotion and time spent with Him, these words were burned into my heart, and so I share them with you . . .

Poem ~ Anguish of Heart

Oh, my lovely darlings,

Your hearts wrench within you

With emotional flooding

Mourning in complaint

Weary from the treachery and ingratitude of men

Longing to hide

Needing rest, so that you may know of that quietness

Without contortion from your sorrowful soul

Exceeding in pain

When your heart like wax, melts

You are utterly crushed

Sighing is your daily consumption

And your groans pour out of you

You are numb

You shake and are very saddened

You are completely devastated

Crying out loudly for your heart is in turmoil

You are broken beyond measure

For that net was spread for your feet

And made you desolate

Your eyes fail from weeping

Because of this, your hearts are faint

And your eyes grow dim

As you were smitten unto excess

So much pain, no words to describe the feeling

Your distress and hurting seem too great to bear

Grasping for words to describe the depth of the pain

You are paralyzed, suffering acutely

Unable to think clearly

“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalms 34:18).”

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. (Psalms 147:3)”

Poem ~ Hope for the Heart ~

Oh, my lovely darlings,

I desire to bring hope to your hurting hearts

My hope is that my prayer is a salve for every sore,

And a relief to the spirit under every burden

That you change your focus

Away from your own pain

To the Lord’s love,

Thereby, reminding of God’s faithfulness

May the men and women in your lives be the wisest and best

Those who covet peace and quietness

Oh, my lovely darlings,

Fly away and be at rest as on the wings of a dove!

Poll

Woo hoo good one here ~ "You stole my happy" and that is not good when that happens . . .

Faith believes that God will plant the seeds of hope for tomorrow in the garden of our hearts today.

— Janet L. Weaver Smith

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." (Matthew 5:6)

"You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book." (Psalm 56:8)

There Will Always be Something Missing . . .

Even when we are in a good relationship and all is going well in our lives . . . in love, family, friends, finances, etc., there will always be that hole inside of us that, no matter what, seems to never be satisfied . . . and, as for me, that hole was filled with having that personal and intimate relationship with Him, who is truly the only One who can satisfy in this life. This has just been my experience.

He places your tears in a bottle. Now, what does that mean? God knows your sorrows and struggles. He knows every tear that you shed. If your God knows and cares for the birds of the air and all other living creatures, He certainly knows and cares about your situation.

I love you all and my heart aches terribly when I know your heart is broken.

Hello Khatete Poems,

Thank you for reading and leaving an insightful comment.

Khatete Poems from Nairobi, Kenya on June 15, 2019:

We define ourselves first and that defines how others see us, especially after a fall, the hardest but most important thing is to still manage to see ourselves as winners, no matter how hard or long it takes we can still find some silver lining even in our worst experiences, embracing those wins helps us see the brighter side of ourselves which other people will see in our smiles. We come out stronger, better and happier, more experienced.

Hi Shyron,

Thank you for sharing a beautiful thought here. I have been married to the same man since I was 19, and I am so blessed to have never experienced such heartbreak in the area of love of spouse. But, of course, there are many other heartbreaks to endure in this life.

I remember being so forlorn when reading of all the lovely persons here on HP who have experienced heartbreaks at the hands of one who they thought loved them.

I appreciate the thumbs up and more and share.

You are a doll.

God bless you, precious one

Shyron E Shenko from Texas on July 09, 2015:

Faith you truly have to go through heartbreak to know love a second time and when you open up your heart a second time you will find more love than you could ever imagine.

Hi dear stick : ) ...oh, no shame necessary. I am happy though to see you here on my pages again. I have been remiss in publishing anything here of late. I am well, dear heart, and thank you for asking.

You are still the real deal of a poet as I have been reading on G+.

Thank you for telling me you miss me and miss conversing with me ...that is sweet, Michael. I miss you too being here on HP and reading your amazing poetry in HP Town.

Well, please don't be a stranger for too long again.

Hugs and blessings to you

Hi Lovely Missy,

I am so happy to see you popping over to my side of HP Town to brighten my space. I am glad you found this article encouraging, especially for those who have experienced heartbreak. I am no true poet as you are, but I do appreciate your generous comment.

Yes, as far as the "Jar of Hearts" song! I love Christina Perri's music. She is very dramatic.

I am a late night/early evening commenter, being I work in the city during the week with an hour commute ...but I always will make my rounds in support of those I follow.

My prayer is that those whose hearts have been broken, that they will allow healing and be open to being loved again. We must always be open to loving and allowing ourselves to be loved, although there is the risk of having our hearts broken over and over. I believe that is why we are still here, is to love and be loved.

Hugs

Hi Faith, I just read your lovely comment on my new poem, "Finding Freedom," and I decided to pay your page a visit. To my surprise, I saw this article staring me right in the face. I think it was fate.

This was a great article to encourage others who have experienced heartbreak. You are such a caring and loving person. I loved the poems you added as well. How funny is it that we picked the same song for our heartbreak hubs...."Jar of Hearts"

Hi Patricia, I am so glad you found the one who made you feel loved, and I understand that initial heartbreak actually being the best thing to happen so you were able to know of that true love. Thank for your kind words. You are a precious friend and a blessing to me and to many. Love, blessings, hugs and many Angels your way.

Aw, Dear Jo,

I am sorry that I just now saw your lovely comment here from two days ago! Thank you so much for reading. I know you are hurting now and I pray the Lord comforts you during this time of transition in your life.

The Lord is One who we can count on during our times of distress. When we call out to Him, He hears and will relieve us of such distress.

He is so very close to the brokenhearted.

Hugs and love to you, sweet friend.

Hello Jodah,

So nice to meet you. Oh, yes, Nellieanna is a rare gem on this planet, actually she is more beautiful than the rarest of gems on this planet, as is her poetry.

Yes, that would have been a good title indeed too. 1 Corinthians 13 : 4-7 is one of my favorites as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read and leave such generous comments. I do look forward to reading some of your work. During the week, I work in the city, so I have an hour commute to and fro and am away from my home over 10 hours in the day; however, I will love to read some of your work when I arrive back home in the evening after 6:00 p.m. or later.

Have a lovely week.

Hello Faith,

What a beautiful and touching hub, both sad and inspiring. It could have also been called "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted".

I saw one of your comments on a hub by the wonderful Nellieanna and had to check your profile. Glad I did. 1 Corithians 13: 4-7 is one of my favorite Biblical quotes. To write things so touching as you have only comes from someone who has experienced heartbreak themselves. keep up the good work. Now I have to check out more of your hubs, and please if you have the time take a peak at mine 'Love and Other Muses".

Took awhile to get down here. LOL Beautiful words of wisdom as always Faith. True story, I know that God brought my wife and I together. Both of us prayed for the same things, a true love, children, ect. Every one has been answered. We've been together for 12 years now and we still act like we just met yesterday. If you mean it from the heart and soul, it shall be answered. When you find that special someone, you'll know it. I've been very blessed, sometimes blind, but I am human. Hi Dearest LadyFiddler,

So glad to see you here this day. You are a really busy lady no doubt and I am proud that you are working on your new book and website, how exciting!

Yes, He can heal the brokenhearted indeed!

What a lovely gesture and I am very humbled that you would even think of me and using my poems on your website. The only thing is that HP will say that it is duplicate material if you do it in that manner, and your HP friend's poems will get unpublished by HP, as they will see it on another site. However, you are certainly welcome to use a link to a poem that is located at the very bottom of hubs down in the gray area where it states HubPages . . . about us . . . link, and if you click on that link and copy the link you may do so on your site, then all people will have to do is click on the link and it will take one to the hubber's poem on HubPages. You can write something on your website like "Sharing poetry by so-and-so on HubPages and then link it, just like when we share to Facebook, it is the link that shows up then people can click on the link and read their poetry if they so choose to do so.

God bless you and I will pray for you much success with your book and website. As He tells us in His Word, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart."

Hugs and love, Faith Reaper

Dearest Faith, How beautiful is this hub! There is a hole .. a God shaped void which only He can fill. So many chase after finding their soul mate and are crushed and pained in the process - never understanding that God completes and makes one whole.

I liked this so much "May the men and women in your lives be the wisest and best. Those who covet peace and quietness." Surrounding our lives with those who are wise and covet peace and quietness is to protect our hearts from use and abuse.

Oh yes, I remember that horrible pain caused by someone you thought would never-ever hurt you. Sadly, or maybe fortunately, a healed heart is harder and tougher. So true: Even in the happiest relationships something is not perfect. But only because of our own egoistic expectations. The more we have, the more we want. Humans are inherent greedy, and so often arrogant, believing that others, including God, should realize all their hopes and dreams.

Beautiful message. Thank you, Faith :)

Hi Dearest Cat,

Always a good day when you grace my hub space with your presence!

Thank you so much for the lovely comments. You are always so kind and genuine.

I have just recently discovered Christina Perri myself. I just really love all of her songs so far that I have heard. She has a unique voice and her videos are always dramatic.

Yes, to truly love another, one must have that love inside of oneself and be able to love oneself too, which is not an easy thing to do, until we look at ourselves at our sweet Lord God does, then we realize just how beautiful we are in His eyes. Always remember, just how beautiful you are in His eyes. You are more valuable than any of the rarest gems on this planet. You truly are, so you should never settle, as you truly deserve one who will love you for you, just as you are, just as He does!

Oh my goodness, for one, I had to scroll for ten minutes to get down here, I kid you not! :D Obviously your loving and compassionate heart draws people here anyway, but I believe you really struck a chord with so many with this one. Not only have most people probably experienced heartache, but we all want to know what someone cares and loves us; that is what you do. I've never seen anyone so uplifting and caring for others as you. The things you say come from your heart and it is obvious, you're not offering just words but your heart with them. This is just simply an amazing gesture and my emotions are all over the place with it; so touching and so needed!

That was the first time I'd ever heard that Christina Perri song and I loved everything about it... I'm so glad you brought that to my attention!

The poetry itself was beautiful and enough to bring a tear to my eye. I really believe you have the whole concept of love down, from your love of other people, your Faith, your loved ones, and honestly, love for yourself, which I'm learning to realize is necessary for all other love to truly exist and thrive.

You are such a wonderful example of how to live!

Up and sharing of course!

Hugs and love, Cat

It is always so sad and wrenching to see someone suffer at the hands of another. Though our hearts are not fragile they can be broken so easily. Your poem, your words, the photos, simply touching and compassionate. You show the love of the Lord in all you do dear one.

My father used to say every relationship should have three people, in his words, "you, me and God".

God bless.

Voted up, awesome, and beautiful.

What a beautiful hub. Full of genuine sentiment and love. We should all take a lesson from this and be thankful for the very good things that we have in our lives.

It is all too easy to forget the good when we are struggling but we never have to look to far to find it.

Yes, Faith, you have captured this feeling well. I recall when my heart was broken many years ago and it hardly seemed possible that the sun would ever shine again. But it did and it does. And a new day dawned.

Hope for that new tomorrow and for the opportunity for a new experience that would not end that way kept me going.

Thank you, dear sweet Friend, for giving a voice to the feelings many of us have felt. Angels are on the way in abundance this morning. :)

Oh, yes, Vinaya, the issues are irrelevant now, as I was able to download it in lieu of copying and pasting or just saving it as a picture, so that it would show up great, as it does! And the profile score no longer blocks the entire Shield of Faith, so thanks for that adjustment before going on your trip.

Again, I appreciate you.

Hi Vinaya,

So glad you are back and hope you had a good trip!!! Missed your writing too.

I am glad you loved the quote and my thoughts here as to those whose hearts have been broken.

No worries or rush on the color adjustment : ) I will swap it out every now and then. If I write a hub of spiritual warfare, will swap it out then. Thanks so much. Appreciate you!

Hugs and blessings, Faith Reaper

"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear." I loved this Bible quote.

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for the double blessing tonight! Oh, wow, how lovely sweet friend. I thought you were speaking of all the hundreds of thousands, most likely, of brokenhearted poems out in the world.

Faith Reaper (author) from southern USA on June 20, 2013:

Hi dearest Jackie,

Yes, most of us have, in some form or fashion, and maybe not by a lover, experience some type of heartache. Well, I would not go as far to say, just because I have been married my whole life :) there hasn't been any heartaches or maybe I should say headaches : ), which is normal in any marriage, but we just work through it and go on.

Yes, I believe there are probably a couple of thousand or more brokenhearted poems out there in this world that have been written by those with broken hearts no doubt!

I am glad you think this is a beautiful hub.

Hugs, Faith Reaper

Faith Reaper (author) from southern USA on June 20, 2013:

Hi Dearest shanmarie,

Aw, thank you so much for such lovely words here this day! You have a precious heart to leave such wonderful comments. Yes, 1 Corinthians just about covers it all, as God is certainly in the love business, as He is divine love, that true agape love no doubt!

This first song is so very dramatic. Chrintina Perri is my new favorite artist, well, she is pretty new to me, and I just love all of her songs. There is just something about her voice.

I am glad you are not in one of those places today where you would cry, so that is a good thing. However, crying is good to0, to let it out. If one were in an emotional state, that song will bring on the tears or either get one fired up to not take any mess from any of those collectors of hearts!

Hugs and love to you always, Faith Reaper

Jackie Lynnley from the beautiful south on June 20, 2013:

Probably most of us have been hurt by love sometime and it is something we never forget but at least we can tap into that memory for a few good poems. lol Or a few hundred!

You are so lucky to have such a wonderful husband to never cause you heartache. God has blessed you indeed.

Beautiful hub! ^

Shannon Henry from Texas on June 20, 2013:

Faith Reaper,

You have one of the most beautiful hearts! I'm never disappointed in reading your hubs. 1 Corinthians is my utmost favorite description of what unconditional love really is because it applies straight across the board from romantic love to platonic love.

I will also say that I am glad I am not feeling emotional today or listening to that dramatic first song might've made me cry!
