Eyes are important part of our personalities. Studies reveal that varied eye colors do have an important role to play in affecting our personality traits.

It's a fact that Individual to individual personalities are different and it is certainly not about the eye colors only. However, it might be true to certain extent that the color of your eye may have an impact on your personality but then again it is all about your own personal nature and other features that leave a mark on your personalities.

The above mentioned traits are just the simple observations and do not specifically point to the fact that each person with a particular eye color will have the same habits and styles.

Let's see which is the very common eye color... ,,,,,

Hi Angel ... Well I think I share the same ideas as you have as I also have pure black eyes. So saying that such people are other worldly people kind of creeps me out too Lol :D . However, then again I have pure black eyes ,maybe deeper darker brown but overall they visibly appear as black :) Therefore such people are surely existing in this world... and you and me are good examples for that :)

Hi nat. I believe your personality will be combination of the traits that are associated with these colors. Like you can be a really caring person and you may show flexibility in your attitude while dealing with the affairs of your life. But above all as I have repeatedly said , personality features may differ from person to person. It is not only about the eye colors that may affect your personality. There are lots of other things that play a vital role in defining the features of your personality :)

Thank you Spectre for appreciation :) It is interesting to know that you really have a multi eye colored family and you yourself has a real unique eye color :) Personality features differ from person to person and it is not only the eye color that has a role to play , rather other factors also leave a major influence.

The hub is very interesting. After reading your hub I have started comparing the personalities of people depending upon their eye colour. Most of the points you have written seems to be true. Interesting post to read--thanks for writing it! I also thought that black eyes do not exist. I have dark brown eyes, so is that what you mean when you say black eyes. Either way, it was fun reading the personality traits associated with each eye color.

Saadia A (author) on April 24, 2013:

Thank you for your comment Alex. The eye color and how it changes is an interesting phenomenon. Your description stays close to Hazel so probably Hazel is your eye color and I can see there are very impressive traits a person with hazel eyes has :)

Alex on April 23, 2013:

This was very interesting ended!

I guess i have hazel eyes but they are very strange, they seem to being changing colors all the time, some times they are very green with som yellowness near the core, and some times they seem to be very bluish with almost blackness at the edge. As i sad they seem to be changing color all the time.. ;)

But i assume it's hazel.

I'm not sure whether to go with two of these, I have a condition which means I have a different colour in each eye(heterochromia iridis). I have one blue and one dark green, almost brown. So, do I go with both, or just pick one?? They both sound similar to me in certain ways.

Anyway, great post :)

I have green eyes. Very accurate description. I do have a certain mystery, am often told I am intelligent, and I am extremely curious. You should add that they are often in tune with nature, I find this is true. This was a truly awesome thing to read.

Saadia A (author) on November 20, 2012:

Sunwoo.... I read a quote somewhere which was something like, "your day is already a failure if you rely on horoscopes" .... Similarly as already said in the article that the mentioned traits are just based on simple observations and are not meant to be the final word. A personality is a combination of many things and human nature all around the world is basically the same. So if we say that only the eye colors have a role to play and believing wholly solely on it is not a very bright idea.

Sunwoo on November 20, 2012:

People actually believe this? This is like horoscopes... Do an experiement

1) Use this configuration and give people a piece of paper that has the personality trait matching their eye color.

2) Ask them if it aptly describes their personality and record data.

3) mix the eye color/personality trait around so you have a new configuration and repeat experiement #1

It's the same with horoscopes; these descriptions are general enough to match anyone.

Saadia A (author) on November 14, 2012:

Thank you everyone for your comments and appreciation. I am glad that you all enjoyed reading and the personality traits match you or your friends almost really well.

@LauraD093..... I think if you have different eye colors, your personality can be the combination of the two ....but then again the bottom line of everything is that its not only the eye color that affects your personality....other features also have a role to play.

Thanks again EVERYONE for dropping in your comments and feedback :)

Amaya on November 12, 2012:

What if your eye color is like a hazel? But instead of a brown it's blue and grey and then gold around the pupil. So... Blue-green-grey that changes and mixes and then a gold ring around the pupil. That's my eye color.

I loved this article very much! It was a fun and informative read. I had brown eyes when I was younger before they became hazel. Even now, I think, the description for brown eyes fits me more than the description for hazel eyes. Thumbs up for an awesome and interesting hub!

Thank you JPLacey for your appreciation. I am glad you found the article interesting. It is indeed more fun when you think about people you know with different color eyes and find the traits described in the article above.

With one blue and one green eye...i think that will be a mixture of both the eye color traits just like every personality is a combination of many things, so can be the eye colors and their association with how an individual behaves or reacts to the environment around him or her.

Thank you for dropping in your comment :)

JPLacey on November 06, 2012:

I thought this article was really interesting! I think it definitely makes sense when I related it to people I knew with each eye color.

Thanks for the great article!

Saadia A (author) on October 30, 2012:

Hi tiffany delite....I am pleased to know that you liked reading about eye colors. As your description says your eyes definitely are of unique color. The blend of hazel and yellow makes it a pretty shade.

Thank you for dropping in your comment. i appreciate your stopping by ;)

GreenChameleon90 on October 29, 2012:

Hi Tiffany. To see yellow in your eyes is most unusual. As white daylight enters the eyes it undergoes a thing called Rayleigh scattering where the blue light is scattered by the cornea to and back from from the iris. This is exactly the same thing that makes the sky blue. But the true color of the iris has an effect. For example, my iris is yellow but looks green because green is what you get when you mix yellow and blue. Blue eyed people simply have a dark colored iris whose shade controls the type of blue. Hazel people have brown and yellow. Brown eyes are little affected by Rayleigh scattering except when the brown in the iris is very light.

But when we look at our eyes in different colored light, strange things can happen. Our eyes can adapt to artificial light so that we see everything in their usual colors but light scattered back from our iris' might be missing one or more colors resulting in a color change. For example, my eyes in daylight are bright light emerald green but they change to either blue or grey at night depending on the light source.

Tiffany Delite from Wichita, KS on October 28, 2012:

my eyes actually switch up colors from time to time. they are usually hazel but sometimes turn like this yellow color. i think it is actually a very, very light brown, but people always describe it as yellow for some reason. i also see specks of darker brown. i have unique colored eyes and i love it! thanks for this article...blessings!

Sarah on October 15, 2012:

Got these crazy icy blue eyes that seem to darken to black at might time, or maybe its just my imagination...

GreenChameleon90 on October 14, 2012:

Having differences in our eyes may be more common than we think. My right eye has a more pronounced light blue/grey ring around the green than my left eye. This ring may have a lot to do as to why my eyes change to blue or grey depending on the light.

Saadia A (author) on October 14, 2012:

Britney on October 06, 2012:

My eyes are brown but they have gotten lighter over the years, one of my eyes is lighter then the other and it has a speck of i think orange/hazel in them? Is this rare? Iv told my mom she said she doesn't know what it could be. My moms eyes are dark brown and my dads eyes are kinda dark to but its lighter than my moms eyes. When its kinda dark my eyes look darker but when its light that same speck of hazel shows up, in the dark you can kinda see the hazel spot but not as much as in the light. Does anyone knows what this means? Or is?

I have only had one boyfriend and it had lasted about half a year.

@Athena....Beautiful eye color you have. Thanks for dropping in your comment :)

@CullenFever4Ever....I am glad that the "definitions" are good enough to describe your personality features...:) The changing of eye colors like i have said above in my comments to to other visitors is much dependent on the reflection of the amount of light . The Topaz shade which your eyes turn to must be really beautiful. Thank you for dropping in your comment.

CullenFever4Ever on September 02, 2012:

I have brown eyes, and I thought definitons (I guess you could call them :P ) were spot on :) My eyes sort of change colors.... Not like from brown to blue or something, but just to lighter and darker shades of brown :P I like when they turn sort of a topaz color :)

Athena on August 30, 2012:

Brown and blue are tied. Lol. I have brown but they turn darker when I'm sad and amber in bright light.

GreenChameleon90 on August 30, 2012:

I have to agree. Personality traits versus eye color is one thing. But who we are and what we do with our lives is another thing all together. From my point of view I have to consider the fact that what we do and how we treat people follows us after we pass on. In just the last week I've had three mind blowing visions of very high clarity and detail. I'm not surprised as my life is in a bit of a free fall at the moment and almost anything could happen. If only I could really share what I see, I think the world would be a much better place. My ex wife KNOWS FOR A FACT that I have psychic gifts. But they really freaked her out when my visions started and she even demanded that I stopped having them, but the genie was out of the box and I couldn't put it back.

My ex wasn't exactly the most beautiful person in more ways than one, but she has beautiful deep blue eyes and my three grown children have identical blue eyes. It was very interesting to watch my children go through puberty and beyond, as their eye color obviously made them very desirable to the opposite sex. My daughter is married and my two boys have had many girlfriends that were/are very beautiful. As it turns out, blue eyed genes are usually dominant over green eyes. I'm a bit jealous over my boys ability to land women. They look like me but their eye color certainly makes a huge difference. But I would not be surprised if my grandchildren (when they eventually arrive) have green eyes like me. I did some further research and found out that green eyes are quite common in dutch people. And yes, I have a touch of dutch blood in me. Green eyes are a on recessive gene but they can become active at any generation, as they did with me.

Saadia A (author) on August 29, 2012:

@Greenchameleon...thank you for Following the article with great interest and adding your own personal observations as well. In re-evaluating your place in the universe ,i think its you and your own self who has a more role to play than the eye color itself.

@K......Thank you for dropping in your comment.Sometimes it gets difficult to differentiate between what exact eye color you have.So probably you are also going through the same confusion. But never mind, every eye color is beautiful carrying individual traits. Your description shows that your eye color is much closer to hazel, which also is a nice color with great features for a personality.

@Chowder...Thanks for your feedback and i am glad that you found the traits described closer to the personality features and true.

@Jack....hahaha one thing is for sure, you have a variety of eye colors :) Usually it is more about the reflection of light that brings about changes in the eye color. And i guess you might have the same thing going on. And i think lets put it in a better way of being a fish than a mutt....:) Thank you for dropping in your comment !!!

Jack on August 26, 2012:

I have a full spectrum hazel eyes. They go blue, green, grey and black. If any brown it's a honey amber brown.so what does that say bout me. Haha I guess I'm a mutt lol

k. on August 23, 2012:

oops, that should be "around the pupil"

k. on August 22, 2012:

My entire family has blue eyes. I also had blue eyes until puberty and then they went green with brown around the iris. They don't change colour though so I'm not sure if they could be called hazel.

GreenChameleon90 on August 22, 2012:

I've been following this hub with great interest. And the personality traits for green eyes are surprisingly accurate.

I am very curious by nature and love reading up on all the sciences to the extent that I'm now a walking on just about any subject.

Also, I'm more that just intelligent. In fact I'm extremely intelligent with an IQ that puts me in the top 2%.

As for green eyed jealously, if I'm honest with myself (is this a green eyed trait as well?), I have to admit that jealousy is my greatest curse. But I have another personality trait that you may consider adding to the list of Green eyes . I'm and extremely spiritual person which was boosted by a huge amount when I became a hugely psychic person some 20 years ago. Initially this blew me away and I was forced to

Reavaluate my place in the Universe. But after many years I have come to terms with it and it has made my life and an amazing and much safer place for me. My greatest ability is to see the future with uncanny accuracy and I've learned that the future is not set, but can be changed with some effort but I'm not also successful. Some attempted changes of the the future actually resulted in the events I was trying avoid actually happening.

Thank you Moli316 for leaving your comment and appreciation. You should get happy about the fact that you have unique eye color among your family. Your teacher has been right that it is the light that plays a major role in the quick changing eye colors at times. Thank you for adding your personal observation about grey eyed people as well. It surely adds to my knowledge too.

Once again thank you for your appreciation :)

MoLi316 on August 21, 2012:

i feel weird, but my eyes are an icy pale color that look blueish in the sunlight but grey everywhere else. it has nothing to do with genetics, because my mom has green eyes and my dads eyes are as blue as can be! people think im a freak, but i just say im unique. something new to add is that your mood has nothing to do with your eye color. i asked my science teacher and she she it's just the amount of light hitting them. i like the hub you made @learner365, but one thing you might want to add about grey eyed people that i personally have observed through myself and other grey eyed people i know is that we are brave, but often put down over big things. we are sympathetic, but know the right times to humor people. thanks and keep posting!

GreenChameleon90 on August 12, 2012:

Hi moemoe. I have a friend with light blue eyes that also change to green or grey depending on the lighting conditions. I've only seen it happen with light colored eyes so I'm guessing yours are light blue?

moemoe on August 11, 2012:

I have blue that change to green and sometimes grey

N on August 09, 2012:

I always thought that people with black eyes just had extremely dark brown eyes! And I thought that grey eyes were a myth. Well, I'm glad I've been set straight. Now I'll spend less time gawking at people's eyes, and more time actually talking to them.

That's interesting to know about such a mixture of eye colors...and only God knows where men with green color eyes are hiding :)

GreenChameleon90 on July 30, 2012:

@learner365....Also, I'm the only one in my extended family who has green eyes. Dad has light blue and mum has Hazel. One sister has light blue and the other sister has hazel. I suspect that my green eyes are the the result of a genetic mix of some kind. And my color changes are due partially because my eyes are quite pale.

But what I would like to know is how many males have green eyes. I can't find the percentage anywhere. I know of a few women with green eyes, but I don't know any males with the same. Where are they hiding?

Saadia A (author) on July 30, 2012:

@GreenChameleon....With age and time, with different light exposures ,the eye colors do change. The reflection of light is something that has a major role to play with changing eye shades. So maybe it is one of the vital causes also with your ever changing eye colors.

@sadjksadh....Hope the traits described above for black eyes are near to your personality features!!!

I was born with pale blue eyes but about the age of 10 they quickly changed to green.

And I'm also a chameleon because my eyes can change to blue to grey depending on the lighting conditions. My second girlfriend was astonished on our second date because on the first date she said they were totally blue, but on the second date at a different place they were bright green. Took me ages to convince her I did not have colored contact lenses. Then she came up with a theory that my eyes went blue when I was coming on to women. I was quite amused.

Hi Dylan, I am really glad to know that you found the information most accurate and you enjoyed reading it as well :)

As you have said you carry traits from both blue and grey colors, it might be possible but i will say it may also be a combination of your own personality features. Our personality features are not only about the eye colors, but other factors also have a role to play in it :)

Regrading your question about changing of the eye color ,well according to my knowledge , in actual eye color doesn't change with moods. Often it is noticed that the reflection and our exposure towards different shades of lights has a major role to play in the change of the eye color.

Thank you again for dropping in your comment! Much appreciated !!!

Hey, this was a fantastic read and after doing a few comparisons among my friends and I; I noticed that it is most accurate. I myself have grey eyes, which though often switch from blue to grey depending on my mood as in happy moods or sad moods. I still have all the traits listed above, but it's odd because I have traits from both blue and grey .. Do you have an explanation as of why I might have this, or why they change color depending on my mood?

I have brown eyes. So does my cousin. We have those great personality traits and more.

Coop on July 08, 2012:

hmm ... I have green eyes, I don't think im a jealous person ?

but I know that eye color is not a sure dictation of ones personality, so i am just happy to have this rare color :) and in a way my personality matches, because it was in fact that curiosity is what brought me here.

Hey, awesome thing, but I've often heard that there are really no such things as black eyes... apparently they're just a REALLY dark brown? I used to think that my friend's eyes were black, but then one day under really close inspection I found that they were lighter than black should be... so I started having this obsession over black eyes and researched a lot. Many people have said that truly black eyes don't exist. So I was wondering...? Is there really black eyes, and if there isn't, do the 'black eyes' actually count as a dark shade of brown, meaning that they are actually meant to be categorized in brown?

Booklover on June 25, 2012:

I had black/brown eyes until about a year ago then in about six months they turned to kaleidoscope type thing flecks of green gold and blue in a green/brown background.... Any ideas?

Hi Lisa....Thank you for dropping in your comment.Yup many people confuse color contacts with your original eye color which can be very irritating at times but never mind...its like playing the "keep everyone guessing " game...:)

Btw you have a cool eye color, too bad you yourself don't like it but hey blue eyed people are kind and smart so you should get happy over the fact...:) Thanks again for your comment :) Appreciate much!!!

Lisa on June 23, 2012:

I have dark blue eyes. I don't like them! Most people I don't know think I have brown eyes until I tell them they're blue! Very annoying! I've even been asked if I wear color contacts....if I ever decided to wear color contacts they wouldn't ever be blue. :) i'd want brown, grey or purple.
