Earn Through Blogging With HubPages Program

Kenneth C Agudo is a computer geek working in the BPO industry as a Technical Support I. He earned a BS in computer science at AUL.

I merely remember when my eyes first met Hubpages; it was filled with astonishment seeing a very clear, neat and unified platform for writers online. It was also the day when I joined Hubpages. I really feel excited joining the community, seeing professional and passionate writers make me grin on my laptop monitor. It was probably a love-at-first-sight situation where I feel blown out by the awesomeness of the site.

"However, out of that flattery feeling is the consciousness and the timidity of not succeeding in the platform since English is just my second/third language and I am just a youngster dreaming to be a successful blogger someday."

I freshly remember those days when I had tried to write few hubs and most of them are not featured. It was the feeling that the world bumps you hard that you can’t even stand; it was one of my first challenges here on Hubpages.

One thing that I am really attracted to Hubpages is that it requires high definition (HD) photos which are really cool to me. It beautifies an article and it attracts more readers with just a single glimpse just like what happened to me. To be honest, one of the main reasons why I joined Hubpages is that I wanted to earn an extra income to sustain some of my financial and educational needs. You know the feeling of wanting to be independent of not asking money to your parents? That’s what I feel!

Getting Along with Professional Writers

Before I discovered Hubpages, I was writing already for bubblews which I have earned my first hard cash online. I feel really blessed and fulfilled knowing that I have been proficiently earning some money online. Although, it never stops me from searching for more opportunities online, and that made me stumble on Hubpages.

When I first saw Hubpages, I know that writer here just don’t write like bubblews writers do. The site is far behind or lets us say far different from my first writing site. It is not just because bubblews have a low quality post but because it is more on social blogging site while Hubpages seems to be a pure writing site where you need high-quality articles for you to drive passive traffic.

Deep within I feel nervous since I might get mock and bash by writers who will look at my hubs as a waste and a trash. But that feeling doesn’t stop me from freeing myself in writing for Hubpages. I started to write a few hubs and begun to follow some good writers that I feel comfortable and at the same time, the writers who make me “Wow” when I read their hubs.

A few months after my hubs were published, I have realized that only a few of them get traffic each and often times they remain dormant. I was not shocked since I know for myself that I lack interaction with my co-Hubbers since I was pretty busy with other sites which yield income for me.

My First “Ouch” on Hubpages

I barely remember those words of defamation from one of the Hubbers here. It makes my knees weak and my arms to be petrified. I feel so dumb after reading her comment on one of my forums. She clearly stated:

It was obnoxious seeing a 19-year-old writer here on HubPages”

Those words rupture my throat, making me faltered.

I guess I have been a chicken for a quiet time reading her comment, but after few weeks of realization and self-encouragement; I told myself that – let those words be a challenge for you, let those words make you a better writer. That encounter may have grabbed me to a grave of not continuing on Hubpages but my will and passion for becoming a successful blogger never fail. It lit within my heart and I know for myself that I have something to show off.

I ignore those comments that belittled me and continue my trek here on Hubpages. After some time, I feel better seeing more rubber started to follow me. It’s a simple accomplishment and a reward for me knowing that few Hubbers are interested in what I write.

Solving My Problem:

It was not clearly stated what qualification that I did not qualify in so I started a forum asking for help. Luckily, some of the concern Hubbers helped and guided me to fix my problem:

  • Remove copyrighted images and look for free images in public domain
  • Insert caption and citation of every photo and reference to my articles
  • Check my usage of grammar, punctuation mark and sentence structure

After that, I have applied again for Adsense then I was repeatedly declined. I painfully remember I got 25+ disapprovals. It feels really bad!

My Struggle of Getting Approved in Adsense

To be honest, learning the site and knowing how to earn money on Hubpages is not easy as what I have expected on my very first few weeks here on Hubpages. Before writing, I have searched for reviews online if the how the site works and some testimonials that will tell and show me that Hubpages is a legit writing site.

Scroll to Continue

One of the sources tells that:

“In order for you to earn on Hubpages, you need to have Adsense account for you to monetize and activate Hubpages program. They have also few internal and external programs like eBay and Amazon which pays based on the sales you have generated”.

It was pretty vague to me since I never use those programs on my earlier sites that I have been writing online. Definitely, I start to read more on Hubpages site, reading some few hubs about it for me to be guided. When I feel much more knowledgeable on how to configure each program, I have attempted to apply for Google Adsense and after few hours Adsense emailed me:

“Unfortunately, I was disapproved due to some requirements I don’t comply”

Editing Hubs

Editing Hubs

Editing and Writing More Hubs

After multiple disapprovals; I stop for awhile applying for a Google Adsense account. I read more articles about it and ask more relevant advice on some concern few hubbers. I also commenced writing few more hubs to qualify and follow what they have advised to me. Some of the things I have done on my hubs:

  • Revision and edit all my hubs (citation, credits, grammar etc)
  • I started to write longs hubs for I have observed it works better
  • I began to delete some of my creative writing, which seems to be futile
  • I wanted for 6 months as what Adsense policy has stated on its qualification

I have concentrated on writing knowledge-based content after observing and realizing that Hubpages drives more traffic on evergreen articles. I also continued my forums and questions to learn more experience and knowledge about the site.

Striving More

Now, I feel more in-love with Hubpages seeing my earnings rise each month and eventually I might have payments every 2-3 months. But I am doing my very first to have payouts every month, though it seems far and a little bit near in my situation now I’ll keep on striving to be better. I also find my hubs started to increase its traffic each day, which is very amusing to track.

As a dreamer, I also started to build my own personal website and commenced to use my Hubpages Adsense account. Hope it would be safe using it outside Hubpages – I’ve been very careful and conscious about it. It’s my hope and treasure as a blogger. So I guess it’s time to finish these things up, it’s been a very long chitchatting and story. I hope I have inspired you, whoever reads this hub of mine. Thanks for having interest in reading this hub!

Hubpages Payment Proof Review 2019

The Sweet Surprise

You’re probably thinking of what surprise I was flattered for; and guess what, you’re right about what you are thinking. After 8 months of waiting and struggle, my Adsense application got approved! It feels like I was floating in the air and my inner self-shout its ass off. It was a surprise and a blessing for me!

I know if that was the start of my wheel to steer and reap some rewards that I have been planting for over half year on Hubpages. Although, I know that it was just the beginning of a brighter writing career on Hubpages.

After 4 months of writing, I have accumulated my first sweet $50+ here on Hubpages and I will be expecting it to arrive this May 28, 2014, since Hubpages ad program send payments on every 28th day of the month which I have read on Hubpages Help section.

Hi chelletlaudato:

You are also from Philippines? Wow, how did you know I am from Philippines when my picture my location here is Globe? Well, don't mind that anyway ;-)

I know that problogger site and yes, it is a nice blog for bloggers like us, we learn plenty of tutorials there. Thank you for the time :)

Kenneth C Agudo (author) from Tiwi, Philippines on June 13, 2014:

Hi csmiravite-blogs:

Well,I guess I have already my lawyer. hehe You are really into politics and I am pretty amazed because before I was interested on laws but now, just enough to talk about it. Yes, I remember the cybercrime law. What a very knowledgeable friend. Thank you :)

Consolacion Miravite from Philippines on June 13, 2014:

The freedom to write in the Inang Bayan is very strong, Ken. We don't discriminate whether young or old as long as you don't write about things that are contrary to law. What can stop us is the recent cybercrime act which puts a damper in online writing. I still see though, very strong commentaries from the group of Prof. Randy David, Neal Cruz, and the rest of the Inquirer editorial team.

Write your piece, say your word, it's a free country. :D

Kenneth C Agudo (author) from Tiwi, Philippines on June 13, 2014:

Hello mochirajackson:

Thank you for the kind words, I am really happy to meet humble and inspiring writers like you mochi, some are very boastful that they seems to be so high and hard to approach and talk with.

Interesting law, I wonder if there is a law like that in our country. Thank you :)

mochirajackson from Liverpool, United Kingdom on June 13, 2014:

You should be proud of yourself for what you have done, so far. You are succesfully writing in a language that isnt' your first language and you are engaging readers.

In the UK we have laws against age discrimination - don't let your age stop you from doing anything - you are never too young or too old to follow your dreams. Keep up the good work.

Kenneth C Agudo (author) from Tiwi, Philippines on June 08, 2014:

Hello sunilkunnoth2012: Thank you very much for that words of encouragements and compliments. I am really happy that you do appreciate my writing style. I will find time reading your hubs, it sounds interesting. Thank you for the read.

Sunil Kumar Kunnoth from Calicut (Kozhikode, South India) on June 08, 2014:

You have the commitment, caliber and courage to move on. Your writings are so interesting and simple, which will give you lot of traffic. What here matters is hardwork. The more you write, the more you earn. Your traffic, revenue, name, fame everything go up when you do things positively and sincerely. I have done a couple of hubs how to be a successful hubber. Hope you will find the same. Keep on writing. More accolade will reach you. Best of luck dear.

chelletlaudato on May 30, 2014:

Hello, Ken.

I am glad to find other Filipino hubbers here. I admire you for continuing to learn how to write well and for being motivated. I am still new here on Hubpages, but I've been writing for years and have learned through free sources the best advices and tips on writing, blogging, and being an online freelancer.

You can check if you haven't already - that's a great blog to start learning from.

And always remember: Never let anyone belittle you. Show them what you've got and what you're made of!

God bless!

Hello csmiravite-blogs:

Well, even I also remembered you. You are also on Day2Daytips and postanyarticle. We are everywhere and whenever there is a new opportunity online I grab and tried it if it is efficient and worthwhile to work with.

About the suggestion, I have an odesk account but never tried applying for jobs there, I am still timid about it since I feel that my knowledge is not enough. i might check it in the future but for now, I need to learne more about blogging.

Thank you for this kind words and compliment :)

Hi Purpose Embraced: Thank you very much for that kind words. I am happy to let you know that Hubpages have molded me to become a good writer online, even I am still studying, i love to write what I love .

Kenneth C Agudo (author) from Tiwi, Philippines on May 30, 2014:

Hello Dustin W: All I can say is goodluck to you and I am happy you have stumbled on the right place where you can be motivated. Hubpages is a nice place to nurture your talent in writing.

Consolacion Miravite from Philippines on May 29, 2014:

Hi Ken! I see you around in other sites and your energy for online work simply amazes me. I have a kid like you who has deep passion for writing, but a little older. She is a better writer than me and is more serious about online writing than this old woman.

Just a suggestion...if you want to sharpen your tools and put a soul in your writing, I think it would be better if you concentrate in doing freelance work first than writing for portals such as this . Write for sites like ---- elance, odesk, freelancer, and iwriter, for you to get a better feel and spunk to do articles. That would also enable you to know more on the specific niche that you would want to concentrate on.

By battling it out in the open arena, with a do or die outcome, will make you a better writer that is worth your salt in gold. I have seen this happen, as my own child has won in writing competitions, by fighting it out first on these sites.

Best of luck kid and see you around!

hi HappyMikeWritter: I was like that before my dear friend. English is my third language and I am using grammar checker everytime I will be posting hubs here. Don't doubt, just do your best and things will be better soon. You can do it, if I can, you can too :)
