Rich and getting richer and poor getting poorer, suffering in the land is one line sang by reggae sensation of South Africa, Sister Phumi. I use to love this song when I was a kid, but not now. Simply because listening to it and contemplating it gives more power to negative thoughts or feelings of negativity and scarcity. No. This isn’t what I desire. I desire wealth and that requires wisdom and positivity to strive to grow money.
Even if we desire not to focus our energy on broke and poor mentality, we have to be realistic that the gap between the rich and poor is real. Now the question is, why? Many songs are been sung, many books have been written; billion words are spoken every day about the yawning gap between the rich and poor. But it is like weather, many love to talk about it but only few do something about it. And that creates the difference between rich and broke.
Wealthy people have a way of thinking that is different from poor and middle class people. They think differently about money, wealth, themselves, other people, and life.
Author and self-made millionaire Grant Cardone said this about wealthy people “The only difference between those who are wealthy and those who are poor and broke is in their thinking”. Putting it simply, wealthy people are wealthy because of the way they think and the poor and broke people are poor and broke because of the way they think. So who is it we should blame for someone being poor and broke? The rich or the poor? The wealthy people Think Rich. And as the old adage goes “Your life is the physical manifestation of your thoughts”. Dwelling on scarcity and negativity and not dwelling on abundance and positivity blinds and prevents the poor and broke from fully utilizing their innate creative potential to create new ideas to make money grow and live a life of abundance and financial freedom. Every day use of negative words perfect their practice of remaining perfectly broke or poor.
Whilst for the wealthy, they practice use of positive words and nurture positive mindset. Every day use of positive practice makes them perfect the practice and so make their money grow and live the life they dream. Wealthy people have a certain mindset. They don’t dwell on problems but they concentrate their energy on solutions. They invest their time, money and energy on things that adds value to their lives.
Being wealthy means thinking rich and aligning your practices to only adding value to your life. So how do wealthy people think and how do they live? You may ask me. As a freelance writer, I have met some of the wealthiest people on and offline and they never seem to stop fascinating me.
|How Wealthy People Think||How Poor People Think|
I can create my life
Life happens to me
Wealthy people play the money game to win
Poor people play the money game not to lose
Wealthy people are committed to being wealthy
Poor people are uncommitted to being wealthy
Wealthy people think big
Poor people think small
Wealthy people are bigger than their problems
Poor people are smaller than their problems
Wealthy people focus on opportunities
Poor people focus on problems.
I can create my life Vs. Life happens to me
Wealthy people take responsibility of their own lives when it comes to practice of making money grow. They dream about wealth, set goals, attain their goals and repeat the steps to create more cash flow. They don’t sit around and complain for the government, religion or anybody to make their lives better. No. They strive to make their own lives better. With every failure as their stepping stone and learning curve, they better their success strategies and eventually become successful. Poor people on the other hand, play the victim role. They sit down and blame the government, the economy, the churches, the wealth, their neighbors and even the cad drive that over charged them. They fail to be responsible for their own lives. They are better known as complain masters. Do you complain just about everything all day long and 24/7? If so, have you taken a step to better the situation? You can answer for yourself and I respect your view.
Wealthy people play the money game to win Vs. Poor people play the money game not to loss
When it comes to making money grow, wealthy people’s goal is to have massive wealth and abundance. They earn money, save and then invest their money by diversifying their investment in stocks, bonds or real estate. The poor people’s big goal is to have “enough to pay the bills”….The power of intention is so real that when your objective is to just have enough to pay your bills that are exactly what you will get. Not even a cent or dollar extra. This is when law of attraction comes into the scene. What you have in life until now is what you intended for and created in your mind many years ago. So accept it. Whether you are rich or poor, that is what you created.
Wealthy people are committed to being wealthy Vs. Poor people are uncommitted of being wealthy
Wealthy people know what they want well before they start. They want wealth. Full stop. So in their daily lives, they strive to grow their money. They are unwavering in their desire to make their money grow. They do whatever it takes to create wealth as long as it’s moral, legal, and ethical. Wealthy people simply follow simple Laws of Nature. They know what they want and that’s the message they send to the universe. Poor people send mix message to the universe. Being wealthy isn’t easy. It takes hard work, commitment, perseverance and repetition of those steps. That is why you have to stay committed if you wish to be wealthy by making your money grow every day.
Wealth people think big Vs. Poor people think small
Wealthy people see big picture. For instance, a wealthy person may see e fuel station as a cash register whilst a poor person may see it just as a fuel station. It’s not bad to dream big. Don’t even feel guilty dreaming big. What your mind conceives, your mind can achieve. That is the path, wealthy people take. The poor only see what they can earn in a day and how that small meager income can keep them going through that day. Wealthy people see how, small every day earnings will accumulate to bigger amount in many months or years to come.
Wealthy people are bigger than their problems Vs. Poor people are smaller than their problems
If you set out on a journey to being wealthy, that means striving to make your money grow every day, than I have to tell you welcome to the world of problems. The road to wealth is fraught with pitfalls. There are obstacles, twists and has detours. Very precisely, the road to success is messy.
Problem is the determining factor that separates the wealthy and the poor. Wealthy people don’t run from problem. They don’t pretend. Instead they step back, analyze the problem and find focus their energy on finding solutions to the problems. You will rarely find words like Ifs, BUTs and WHAT IFs in the syllabus of the wealthy people. While the poor people’s syllabus is overly concentrated with the Ifs, BUTs and WHAT Ifs. Aren’t these excuses? I have never had of a person who wants to be poor? Everyone wants to be wealthy and that’s perfectly fine with me.

At the end of the day, those that become wealthy are those that face their problems and overcome it. They are the ones that flush down all the Ifs, BUTs and WHAT Ifs into the toilet and develop the mentality of “I can create my life”. When you start developing I can create my life mentality, your life naturally aligns itself to legal, moral and ethical practices of making your money grow every day. Let you be a financial warrior you SHOUTS “Bring it on: when a problems arises.
In the hub 7 leadership characteristics of eagle man should learn from, the hub talks about the eagle using current of the storm to soar even greater heights. When a storm comes, lesser birds flee for cover. The eagle however, spreads its wings and uses the current of the wind to soar greater heights. Wealthy people use this particular characteristic of the eagle to approach their problems. Poor people on the other hand, flee from problems like lesser birds.
Wealthy people stay focus on opportunities Vs. Poor people focus on problems
Wealthy people see potential growth and look for ways to make it happen. Poor people see potential loss even before trying it out. Wealthy people focus on rewards whilst poor people focus on risks. Let say, a poor person’s mind is conditioned to all the Ifs, BUTs and WHAT Ifs as I mentioned earlier. I want to do this BUT…I want that BUT…IF only I have this and that…WHAT IF I do this and….and on and on. Can I tell you, SHUT UP! If you don’t SHUT UP, you will go on and on forever, just like that.
As mentioned earlier, take full responsibility of your life now. No one will do it for you. Create your own line. Believe wealthy will not come to you in golden plate. You have to learn to make money grow every day. Adopt the mindset of It will work because I will make it work.
You have learnt simple, yet tried and true steps to make your money grow. Get out there now and grow your money. Good luck.

Thanks again for this Timeless Wisdom. Rich people and poor people are only differentiated by their thinking. If you want to become rich, you must emulate their thinking.

I have always been fascinated by how the rich people think. I want to become wealthy too and purchase my freedom. The rat race is not a good place to be especially when economic corrections occur. I have been studying how the rich people think. I have read some of the best authors on the subject. It is totally true that the rich think differently from the average people. They have a prosperity consciousness as opposed to a scarcity mentality. They are focused and committed to become wealthy and excellent at what they do. Your article is excellent and it elucidates and enumerates this prosperity consciousness perfectly. Writers like Siebold and Kiyosaki have written tomes on the subject. The following is a summary of how the rich differently from the average.
Average people think MONEY is the root of all evil. Rich people believe POVERTY is the root of all evil.
Average people think selfishness is a vice. Rich people think selfishness is a virtue.
Average people have a lottery mentality. Rich people have an action mentality.
Average people think the road to riches is paved with formal education. Rich people believe in acquiring specific knowledge.
Average people long for the good old days. Rich people dream of the future.
Average people see money through the eyes of emotion. Rich people think about money logically.
Average people earn money doing things they don't love. Rich people follow their passion.
Average people set low expectations so they're never disappointed. Rich people are up for the challenge.
Average people believe you have to DO something to get rich. Rich people believe you have to BE something to get rich.
Average people believe you need money to make money. Rich people use other people's money.
Average people believe the markets are driven by logic and strategy. Rich people know they're driven by emotion and greed.
Average people live beyond their means. Rich people live below theirs.
Average people teach their children how to survive. Rich people teach their kids to get rich.
Average people let money stress them out. Rich people find peace of mind in wealth.
Average people would rather be entertained than educated. Rich people would rather be educated than entertained.
Average people think rich people are snobs. Rich people just want to surround themselves with like-minded people.
Average people focus on saving. Rich people focus on earning.
Average people play it safe with money. Rich people know when to take risks.
Average people love to be comfortable. Rich people find comfort in uncertainty.
Average people never make the connection between money and health. Rich people know money can save your life.
Average people believe they must choose between a great family and being rich. Rich people know you can have it all.

Like your analogy of the eagle. Our minds sure do influence much of our actions so I agree that thinking wealthy thoughts help.

Ian Dabasori Hetr - Good Hub- We see it so often when people come to us to buy their first business. The people that never get it done say these kinds of things "Maybe he's lying, I don't want any risks, what if the business tanks after I take over, etc". The people that succeed say things like "I can grow the biz, He's not even working that hard, I have a good idea of how to improve profits, etc".
Your success is driven by your thoughts, not the other way around.
