Hubpage 11th Anniversary

I enjoy writing about personal experiences with my family. I am interested in traveling, any culture, ancestry relationships and animals.

11th Anniversary

I received an email from Hubpages this morning. It said, “You have hit a pretty impressive milestone—your 11-Year Anniversary on HubPages!” It is hard to believe that I have been writing for that number of years, but I really do enjoy writing and the connection with other Hubbers.

The connection to other Hubbers is my favorite part of this experience. Where else can you connect with people from around the world? I read articles that people from Canada, England, Ireland, Australia, India, Pakistan, Serbia, Croatia, Brazil, Phillipians, Jamaica and many of the states in the U.S. How else can you easily communicate with people from around the world? I love that aspect of writing on Hubpages.

My Life

I have never shared much about my life on Hubpages until now. I thought I knew everything at eighteen years of age, so I ran away and got married. I was very happy for many years and I had three sons. My husband turned out to be a binge alcoholic. Things were very good sometimes but he steadily became abusive over the years. I started attending Alanon meetings, which helped me tremendously as his drinking increased.

I started going to college to be an RN. I knew I needed to get away from my husband and be able to support my sons. I went to work with my associate nursing degree and continued college part time for my BSN. I got divorced in my early thirties when I started work as an RN. Then, I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus, so life was hard but I continued working. Eventually the boys were grown and doing very well. I met my current husband, and he is one of the best things that have ever happened to me.

I did have a couple of years where I wrote very little. I had two back surgeries about 5 months apart and healing took quite some time. It was difficult to say the least. That was in 2015 and 2016. I have a large amount of painful nerve damage in my back and my left leg is entirely numb. My right knee gives out sometimes, which causes me to fall. Now I am in a wheelchair most of the time, although I can take a few steps. This has certainly changed the quality of my life, and I am not able to do many things I once loved. I can write however, so that is another reason I stick with Hubpages. My doctor wanted to put me on an antidepressant, but I am not depressed. He assumed I must be depressed due to my medical problems, but life could be so much worse. I have much to be grateful for with all the support from my husband and family.

Hubpage Articles

In 2018 I started updating some of my articles. Since I primarily write articles about medical issues there is always ongoing research. I want to provide the latest information in every article. I have written a few articles about food recipes that I really like and I thought others might enjoy them as well. I also have written a few fictional stories. In addition, I have written a few articles about places I have seen in my travels and some that are about genealogy. Genealogy is something I really enjoy. I have learned a great deal about my family roots through my research. I have belonged to the Daughters of the American Repulic (DAR) for several years.

I currently have almost 500 articles available, and I have deleted several. I still need to upgrade some and delete others as articles sometimes become obsolete. Several of my articles are featured on various Hubpage websites. That does not mean you are making any real money if you only write one article a week. I get some money about every three months. It takes writing many more articles and having a good audience to make any real money.

Hubpage Benefits

It is wise to follow the suggestions of Hubpages. That means about three good pictures in an article and maybe a couple of YouTube videos. Using a poll or a quiz is also a way to make your article more interesting. Hubpages has a very good learning center. Another phrase in my email is, “Take a look at our Learning Center guides to creating a Stellar Article with a successful, search-friendly title to make your next article a real blockbuster. Already have an idea? Start your next article now!” This is great for people that are new to Hubpages, but it is good for any author to check out.

Final Thoughts

I plan to continue writing but I will still probably only write one article a week. I do not know what my next topic will be as somehow I just come across some idea at the last minute each week. As I said I usually write medical articles, but occasionally I write something different. I have enjoyed getting slightly acquainted with some new authors recently. It seems that the number of authors has grown, but I always enjoy seeing new articles from the authors I have followed for many years. I wish great success to all the authors reading this article.

I will bet you take excellent care of your husband.

It takes courage to deal with operations and pain and you are evidently so upbeat and positive, something which shows in all your articles and your comments on others' hubs.

I love Oscar the cat - he looks very proud of himself and so he should be. Those eyes look right through me!
