HubPages/Maven Network: The Best Site for Online Niche Writers

A licensed and certified counselor by profession, Janis enjoys writing on topics that peak her interest and passions like the love of books.

Creating Fresh Content at HubPages is the Goal

An online writer is always hard at work creating new content to keep up with trends and search queries.

An online writer is always hard at work creating new content to keep up with trends and search queries.

HubPages/Maven Network Site is a Unique Community of Niche Writers

Once upon a time a unique writing community called HubPages emerged among the many writing sites flooding the information highway called the internet. Made up of a talented passel of diverse writers initially called “hubbers,” they represent all walks of life, from every corner the world. They are quite a prolific bunch with enough creativity to fill many oceans, as their words create content that ripple currents of information across the globe. Recently acquired by Maven, writers at this re-created network continue to thrive.

The experiences encountered at HubPages can be enlightening, frustrating, and rewarding. With hard work, a New Understanding of online writing is eventually achieved by the novice. There’s nothing like the xstatic feeling following a new writer’s first payout. But it does take time. Becoming a Writer Fox does not happen overnight. Reality Bites in the butt a few times before a new writer catches on and becomes Purposed Embraced and feels Craftytothecore.

Some HubPage Writers Begin With Hand-Written Notes

HubPages Indoctrination

You probably need to be at HubPages for at least a year before you have an idea of what's expected of you.

Even then, you still may be lost in the wilderness. I've doubted myefforts many times along the way, feeling like a Doodlehead. I don't always grasp the technical ins and outs of online writing, nor the HubPages rules that seem to change with wind direction.

These are times I could benefit from a Vacation Trip to get a break from it all. Stepping away for a spell to refresh can do a hubber good. Taking a breather to consider other alternatives may also be in order at times of contemplation.

While away, I do an internal paradigmsearch for purpose and meaning. If only a slew of Millionaire Tips would come my way, I'd be set for life with lucrative writing ideas. I'd become a writinglover and not worry about producing like a machine to make money.

I would operate from my energycenter and produce interesting, quality hubs and not settle for toptendeals or a cheaptrick to bring in pocket change. We want to make enough to at least afford a cashmere sweater, right?

We are always exploring ways to optimize our time invested in HubPages and make it worth the while.

HubPages Writers Look Within for Ideas

Achieving Success at HubPages

In order to be successful at HubPages, you must pace yourself and have good outlets. Take a moonlake walk as you concentrate on developing a PoeticPhilosophy. Grab a saddle and mount ahorseback for a rigorous ride. Imagine yourself at a beach building SandCastles to relieve stress.

Stop and smell the LastRoseofSummer2 appreciate life. Strive to become a literary CloudExplorer and reach for ideas in the stars. Look up at the Cresent Skies and be inspired by the vastness of the universe.

You will then be renewed and ready to write again for the love of writing. Adjusting to the occasional disappointments brought on by the unpredictability of online writing is paramount to gaining ground and appreciating the spurts of success that will come in time.

We all come to HubPages full of enthusiasm and younghopes of fresh inspiration. We take our writing seriously and findwholeness in our craft.

We don't all have the best writing skills, nor is everyone cut out for mastering social media. But some of us do get brownie points for Marketing Merit when it comes to using Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

HubPages Etiquette

Each of us tries to be a Good Guy, living a cleanlife by following the rules and ethics, led by God's graceinus. Whether it's in the forums or in Q&A, we try very hard to watch or words and behavior. Newbies should be careful as they maneuver through what can quickly become a snakeslane.

To be honest, some of us could use a vocalcoach to assist us with our tones and crankalicious attitudes. We say the harshest things to each other that if said by Any Other Voice outside of HubPages, we would not stand for it. Some call it RealityTalk while others say some writers are just too sensitive. Whatever the case, we all realize that we have to be mindful as members of a community.

Support and Camaraderie at HubPages

Thank God for the Faith Reaper who's always there to send a blessing when it gets tough at HubPages. You can count on a second chance To Start Again and move past the frustrations.

At times, IDONO what to make of this community but I certainly learn a lot when eloquent veterans like billybucs the system while teaching wisdom and valuable writing savvy.

It's the interesting perspective of lisasuniquevoice and the positive messages that janshares, making HubPages a great place for us to hang out and write quality content while munching on hubmuffins prepared by the chef-de-jour. Very special friendships are created here at HubPages.

A Setting Sun of Hope for Writers

Each sunset closes the day with brighter hopes for tomorrow at HubPages.

A Hopeful Future at HubPages Network

Now that I have completed eight years here at HubPages, I look forward to writing more and adding to the quality of this site. The new niche sites have caused us to step up our game by creating more content within a particular niche. Even as I improve my work ethic and productivity, I will continue to grow and enjoy the levity offered by special hubbers on this unique writing site.

Mark Ewbie making me chuckle like a FatFreddysCat with your wry humor. Cantuhearmescream with laughter in the forums? I've asked myself many times, "IzzyMad?"

I now see that the humor on this site maintains a human connection, balancing the good and the bad times, we share as writers and cyber friends.

I really appreciate the gifted works of so many fantastic writers, poets, artists, and cooks I've met and admired in this writing community.

Special thanks to every hubber who has so generously helped me along the way. Continue to make HubPages the premiere writing community and quality content site cyberspace has to offer. The expansion of the niche sites is promising and has already ignited sparks under the feet of hubbers who continue to write and reap the benefits.

Hubber Roll Call: Did you see your username? All hubbers are encouraged to leave comments. Thank you for reading this hub.

Janis Leslie Evans (author) from Washington, DC on March 03, 2018:

Glad you liked the article, Mary. I wish you well here at HP.

Mary Norton from Ontario, Canada on March 03, 2018:

I enjoyed reading this. I don't yet have the same feeling for Hubpages as I used to have for Squidoo but am getting there. I like the community and enjoy interacting more.

Janis Leslie Evans (author) from Washington, DC on April 03, 2016:

Hey there, Greensleeves Hubs! Thank you so much for reading and commenting on this old hub, ha ha. It doesn't get much action at all. It was a lot of fun to write. I agree and have the same fondness for HubPages, although I've had my spell of irritations as well. I appreciate your visit and your including me in your assessment of "great hubbers." Very sweet of you.

Greensleeves Hubs from Essex, UK on April 03, 2016:

Very clever idea Janis - a nice humorous way of acknowledging some of the writers here on this site, whilst also paying homage to HubPages! It must have been fun to write.

I've always written on HubPages, and despite great irritation with some policy and format changes (and some natural disillusionment with the earnings!) it remains in my view the best organised and most helpful site of its kind that I have seen. So I really hope HubPages manages to survive long into the future, going from strength to strength. It should be able to do so if two things happen:

1) It receives the support it deserves from Google

2) It continues to receive and attract the support of great hubbers like yourself.

Janis Leslie Evans (author) from Washington, DC on February 06, 2015:

Wonderful, Prince Bethel! It really is a great place to write, learn, and meet fellow writers. I hope you enjoy your stay. Welcome and thank you for stopping by.

Good hub and tips! I needed this right now to get motivated to write more. I especially liked the video, 10 Tips for Writers from Sharon Colback, with my favorite being #9 (Don't edit while you are writing)...which I just recently caught myself doing and it did in fact interfere with my writing flow and imagination. Thanks for sharing.

Time will tell.

Janis Leslie Evans (author) from Washington, DC on November 28, 2013:

I actually thought about doing another one, Phyllis. Thanks for the encouragement.

Phyllis Doyle Burns from High desert of Nevada. on November 27, 2013:

You should do another, Jan. Hints: Bluebird, Rad Man, Motown2Chitown.

When I was a teenager, the term 'Rad Man' meant: that is so cool.

Janis Leslie Evans (author) from Washington, DC on November 27, 2013:

Thanks, Phyllis. Glad you like it. It actually didn't take that long. My brain can see pieces and then string them together to make a whole. It was really fun to create. I just looked for hubber names that would fit as a descriptive statement in a sentence. Then I put them all together with my thoughts. Thanks for reading it.

Phyllis Doyle Burns from High desert of Nevada. on November 27, 2013:

My gosh, Jan ! This is a very creative idea, using hubber monikers in a delightful to read hub. I love it ! Sadly, there is no 'Love' button. This must have taken you quite some time to fit in the names at just the perfect place. Very clever, indeed.

Janis Leslie Evans (author) from Washington, DC on August 17, 2013:

Thanks for stopping by to read this special hub, pstraubie48. Glad you enjoyed it.

Suzette Walker from Taos, NM on August 08, 2013:

How clever of you to give tribute to some fine writers on HP by weaving their pseudonyms within your writing. Very creative! I enjoyed reading this and I enjoy HP for the same reasons you do. Bravo!

Janis Leslie Evans (author) from Washington, DC on August 08, 2013:

Oh no, susi10, it's open for all hubbers to comment! That was just a fun way to say, "see your name?" I appreciate your visit and comments very much. Thank you so much for stopping by. Maybe I will write another. :-) As you can see the way it works, it would be difficult to use proper names in this fashion. It was a lot of fun.

Janis Leslie Evans (author) from Washington, DC on August 08, 2013:

You're quite welcome, ChitrangadaSharan. I enjoyed it very much, glad you did, too. Thanks for the great comments.

Edit: Whoops, sorry. I thought all Hubbers could comment, it appears only those that were on the list, mine wasn't on it so I shouldn't have commented. Still was a great hub, yet again!

Faith Reaper, thanks for the chuckle and lovely critique of this piece. I appreciate the support you gave me over the weekend when I posted a forum asking if this type of hub would get featured due to all the misspellings and weird grammar. So thank you for giving me the green light on this. I'm so glad that it lifted your spirits. Your comments and sharing are very much appreciated.

Faith Reaper from southern USA on August 06, 2013:

Aw, Jan, I was off-line yesterday and did not read or comment anywhere here on HP, so I miss this clever and so very lovely tribute to fellow writers here on HP. Initially I was reading and saw myefforts highlights and did not catch on then and thought, oh dear, Jan did not place a space there. LOL Then I realized your brilliant plan here of using the unusual hubber names in your sentences without missing a beat! How very unique! I do not believe I have seen such an interesting and clever tribute such as this one ever. Then I was so surprised and smiled when I saw how you incorporated Faith Reaper in so wonderfully. You're the best.

Voted up ++++ and sharing

Thank you for such a positive thing here you have cleverly written here. I had just read the most negative forum ever, and it was so very discouraging, so thank you for a lovely write here.

God bless you. In His Love, Faith Reaper
