Can't Write? No Problem!

If you can't write but you still want to earn online, there are dozens of ways you can earn income. Find freelance work via oDesk, like Graphic Design or Virtual Assistance.

Questions to ask before signing up to write:

  • Who owns the content after it's published?
  • Will I earn an upfront or residual payment?
  • What is the minimum payout?
  • Will I be published right away or await an editors approval?
  • Can I link within the article?
  • How much traffic does the site get overall?

Many people write in hopes to earn a decent income, but the reality is that you could be wasting your time. Investigate the website before you submit any content.

There are many, many more websites available for you to publish your content online, however I've only outlined 20 of the best!

What do you think about these websites?

HaremCinema on November 25, 2019:

I love the idea of this list but I wish it had been updated recently.

Mona Sabalones Gonzalez from Philippines on September 15, 2017:

Although this article was written five years ago, some parts of it are still helpful. It is a nice list to refer to.

Jeff Zod from Nairobi on June 30, 2017:

Great article.I love hubpages more than other sites due to their easy to use features and nice layouts.Which sites do you recommend?

Didik Danalaga on April 05, 2016:

Fantastic hub. Super helpful and presented in an easy to compare format. I will be checking out some of these sites. Voted up!

Raghav on March 10, 2016:

Freshticles is missing from this list. It pays out 75% of revenue. The rules are easier and they site look and feel is simple as well as easy.

Lisa from Central USA on January 10, 2016:

You know I came to your page searching for alternatives to Hubpages. I have been a member at Hubpages for almost 10 years.

The first five years were really encouraging; making 3-4 dollars a day. Was not trying to make a living, but at least felt like my thought and hard work are worth a little bit of something.

The last two years or so, I've basically seen a huge decline. I went into each and every page that I had, updated it, made sure there was no spelling errors, no duplicates, updated links, etCetera. I thought perhaps, maybe that may bring me back on the incline, and I even waited six months for a fresh start, basically.

My earnings dwindled from four dollars a day, to two dollars, to a dollar, to $.60, $.30, and it keeps going down. Granted, I am not a professional writer, nor do I claim to be, but each and everyone of my hubs is my own writing and they are very personal as I share my life experiences.

I am now looking for alternatives to Hubpages and it's very unfortunate because I really enjoyed the community here. Again, was never looking to make a living, but most of us here are here to get a little compensation that's why we Signed up...again, I was never looking to make a living, but most of us here are here to get a little compensation (a good percentage). At least I'm honest about it

IKKreations on August 30, 2015:

Looking forward to seeing my progress

sprickita from Reno on February 23, 2015:

Ehow is where I started, before it became demand studios off spring. The main theme for the site was "how to" IE - EHOW, and content exposure rocked do to their partnership w Google. Firehow is a spin made possible through DS booting anyone w/o a degree. LOL needless to say I was booted & offered money 4rights2my content but I declined. TMI idk but thought id share. Thank You for sharing, this sorta info is invaluable and actually hard to find with a simple search. Thanx again Happy Hubbing

The Prince of ButterFly Knights from Zurich, Switzerland on January 29, 2015:

Your information is very descriptive, very precise, very useful for the others, however but some of those links needs to be re-updated because some of the links services are expired. Thank you for sharing. :D :D

Marsha Musselman from Michigan, USA on January 16, 2015:

I may just check out some of these sites. I've been writing on bubblews since the summer of 2013 and wrote many more articles and blog posts than I've written here, but things are changing there now and I'm looking for other opportunities.

You may want to update this sometime to at least eliminate the ones that have closed their doors like Helium and squidoo and voices if not others too.

Laura Brown from Barrie, Ontario, Canada on August 15, 2014:

Yahoo! Contributors/ Voices is closing up. Squidoo gave notice to the writers on their site just today. Squidoo was bought by HubPages and some content is being merged and the rest cut adrift.

Akhil Dev from India on May 08, 2014:

Suite 101 is gone? What happened to the writers there?

georgescifo from India on May 08, 2014:

Suite 101 is no more...

Very informative hub. Agree with you on the importance of investigating the sites before submitting your content. I had 2 articles on bukisa and was getting decent traffic but I was not very active for 4-5 months and found my account deleted. So far I have been writing on hubpages only. You feel let down when your hard work goes down in the drain. Your hub has inspired me to try a few more sites. You have done your research well. Voted up.
