RESEARCHING ONLINE

The days of going to the library to do research are nearly over now. Almost all writers now find their information from online sources. Thinking about this fact, how reliable is online content? I read an article on Hubpages from Nell Rose and she talks about quality writing online. She makes great points in her article. Just because the information is posted online doesn't mean that is a quality source. Think about it, anyone can write online these days and there are many articles that are online that rank high in search engines that are far from a quality article. There are sites out there that put out any article that is written and most of them are not even qualified content. Beware of these unreliable sites and articles.

These articles are ok to scan for ideas for your own work, but they are not worthy sources. Articles that have high quality content and sources fair much better in search engines and they receive more visitors in general. When you write an article, you want to make sure your information is a reliable source.

CREDIBLE RESEARCH

When you are writing, it is important to write about things that are of interest to you. In saying so, it is also important to write about what other people are interested in as well. The perfect combination of the two is the recipe for a good topic. We are more qualified to write about information we are familiar with and experts in, then subjects we know nothing about. This doesn't mean that you can't write about a specific topic that you are not familiar with at all. This just means that you need to make sure you research credible sources and credible information.

As a writer, it is much easier writing about what we know compared to what we don't. It is basic common sense. Even so, you can become familiar with certain topics by credible research. You can write about anything that you want. It becomes easier to write when you are familiar with the topics you write. Still, it is important to research new topics and to give your readers a vast variety of quality content to read.

Reserach is very important when you are gathering information for an article. You want to make sure you get your information from a reliable source.

A Few Writing Tips

As you have seen, these are just a few of the many things a writer can write about. When considering an article, think about something that many people look for in searches. Think about what is popular now and in trend. Research your information from credible sources. Try to give your reader exactly what they need, all in one article. These four tips should get you more views and a high quality article.

There are many people that write for their readers and audience. You may not be one of these people and you may just enjoy writing about what interests you. That is fine. You can write about anything you want, but do make sure it is a quality article. People can still find your work online and you have to make sure it is written good and mistake free. Check for spelling and grammar errors.

It is important to post related photos, charts, and information in your article also. Your illustrations should tell a story in itself and it should be related to your topic. It is important to have the correct amount of information in your article. You want to have a perfect balance of information, content, and illustrations on your article.

In the end, write about what you want. People that write for their readers have to write about articles that they can relate too. If you not writing for an audience, then you have the freedom to write about anything that you want. You may mix both types of writing into your work. The important thing to remember is have fun writing and sharing your information with the world.

I just came back to reread this article. I just noticed: you have NBA listed twice. BTW: What is NBA anyway?? Oh, I'll bet it's basketball, right???

Your idea on quotes made me wonder....could you get in trouble for duplication. I quoted someone once in a Hub, and got in hot water for that. Just wondering.

Joshua Zerbini from Pennsylvania on July 21, 2012:

*Claudia, thanks for dropping by to comment. Some people write for fun, for a hobby, because it makes them happy, or because they want to make money. Some write for all of these. As long as your writing is quality work, people will read it. If you can get it to rank high on search engines, you can get the traffic. I love writing and I love making money, so I write for both sides per say. Hopefully, you will be successful and get that first check soon!

Claudia Tello from Mexico on June 04, 2012:

Yesterday I published a hub about photography tips. I used a few of the most relevant technical guidelines I learned in a photography course I took last year, wrote all the text from zero and illustrated it with examples of photos that I shot this year with my recently acquired camera. I am very proud of my writing and photography text and I only pray people will find it interesting as well. Some day good, dedicated, passionate, detailed work should make a return shouldn´t it???? I am yearning for my first Hubpages check!!! I write for myself yes, I enjoy it very much yes, but I also need money to live!!!

Felix J Hernandez from All over the USA on June 04, 2012:
