Marketing Strategy_WIX vs SHOPIFY

Marketing helps you drive more qualified traffic and that is why it is so very important for your online business. It enables you to build relations with customers through regular, low-cost personalized communication, reflecting the move away from mass marketing. The idea of a ‘marketing strategy’ is certainly different from one business to another. That’s because it involves a wide variety of exclusive resources and skills. As a business owner, the most important aspects of a marketing strategy for you include email marketing, creative content, blogging, social media, SEO, and analytics. In today's video, we will show you the marketing features and strategies of Wix and Shopify.

Wix has revolutionized e-commerce marketing with 'Wix Ascend'. A part of an all-in-one marketing solution, Ascend is available as a separate subscription, which will let you manage marketing campaigns very easily in one place. On the other hand, Shopify strongly relies on third-party apps for its marketing. While this might give you a lot of flexibility, it’s really difficult to compare the two platforms fairly with so many apps roaming around.

In terms of blogging, Wix lets you build a beautiful one with ease. The only obstacle it stumbles over is archive functionality that is saving old posts for users to read. Shopify scores poorly in the blogging sector. It has no social bookmarking, no built-in analytics features, and no blog-specific searching feature. No wonder its blogging offerings are somber.

As it is mentioned previously, Wix Ascend will give you control over all of the marketing, including Email Campaigns. While you can send three email campaigns in a month without an Ascend subscription, if you subscribe, you will get premium features and a much higher campaign quota.

Using Shopify, you can create email campaigns from the admin page. However, for more flexibility, you can integrate several apps like Omnisend Email Marketing, and Privy. Still, Wix is the winner here.

Integrating across channels is a great way to get a leg up on your business competition. And in social media integration, Shopify has a multi-channel that lets you connect your store to social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram, and also, marketplaces like Amazon and eBay. Wix also supports the ability to sell on Instagram, so you can seamlessly transfer your e-commerce success to a whole new platform without facing major obstacles. However, Shopify can be declared the winner in a thin margin here.

Search Engine Optimization is another indicator of making sure your store appears in a strong position compared to others. Both Wix and Shopify make it easy to customize URL slugs, attach alt text to images, add and edit descriptions/meta titles, and get further guidance with ‘SEO best practice’ prompts. We can say Wix has the upper hand here. It offers keyword support, suggesting popular words or phrases that Shopify does not support.

Both Wix and Shopify provide access to Google Analytics, which gives you excellent insight into what your customers are doing. It means you know exactly how to customize your website to earn more cash. However, Shopify goes extra with huge built-in analytics features, including conversion tracking, customer behavior, and stock levels.

In a head-to-head comparison, Wix wins the round in a close gap! Wix simply offers more than Shopify especially when you consider the superior blogging features and the power and simplicity of Wix Ascend, offering all your marketing tools in one manageable place.
