Although the path to stardom can take on many different forms YouTube has become something that can equalize the chances of fame for everyone. Conventionally becoming famous would mean travelling to Hollywood and auditioning film and television as well as networking with other stars. With the advent of Youtube the possibility of fame for anyone with an Internet connection has arrived. If you truly have a talent, something amazing to show whether it be your music, acting ability, etc YouTube is the new Hollywood. With Youtube you can become the producer, director, actor, musician, and if you do it right your videos will go viral. Then you will not only make a lot of money from the YouTube ad program but you will become very well known across the Internet and eventually beyond. The following article lists some of the people who have created such a splash on YouTube that their channel has gone from an interesting curiosity to something they can leave their day jobs to do full time. In some of these cases due to their popularity on Youtube they have also crossed into television, film and other mainstream media. Some awards ceremonies like the Streamy awards and Webby awards have also been developed specifically to award people for their contributions in Internet related endeavors, YouTube being a big part of those awarded.

Dane Boedigheimer

Dane Boedigheimer is the creator of the YouTube sensation The Annoying Orange, which stars himself as Orange and several of his friends from YouTube and real life as other food characters. Boedigheimer has a few other different channels as well, his personal Daneboe channel, SuperBoeBros and DaneBoe 2nd channel. His Danboe channel has nearly a million subscribers and almost 700 million views. But it is the Annoying Orange channel that has become his most successful endeavor with over 2.5 million subscribers and over 1.3 billion views. The annoying orange became so popular online that it crossed over into TV, starting June 11, 2012 a cartoon series called, "The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange," began airing on the cartoon network. The television series will continue on with many of the original characters but also bring in guest stars such as: Tom Kenny, William Shatner, George Takei, John Dimaggio, Tony Hawk, Tim Curry, and Weird Al. The annoying orange also has a video game and it's own toys. Justine Ezarik

Justine Ezarik is known as a "life caster" as she releases videos very frequently of what she is doing in her day to day life. She has five channels devoted to different aspects with her main channel being ijustine. She gained initial popularity for a video showing her detailed I-phone bill which was so large it was the size of a catalog. Her popularity has increased on Youtube to the point of which simple videos of taking a walk down the street, going to the dentist and other videos generate hundreds of thousands of views or more in a week. She has also crossed the threshold between web personality and Youtube user to act on television as well in series such as: Law & Order:SVU, criminal Minds, The Bold & The Beautiful, The Vampire Diaries and others. She also moonlights on other Youtube series playing Passion Fruit on The Annoying Orange.

Philip DeFranco

Philip DeFranco whose real name is Philip Franchina is best known for his YouTube video blogging that often covers current events mixed with his personal opinions in a comedic way. His videos feature "jump cuts," which due to his popularity on YouTube have been copied by thousands upon thousands of other YouTubers chasing fame. Philip DeFranco is currently the 17th most subscribed on YouTube, his channel has more than 950 million views and over 2.1 million subscribers.

Shay Carl

Shay Carl whose real name is Shay Carl Butler gained popularity for his vlog on YouTube which features his interesting stories and funny antics. He has other channels which feature his family and friends doing different things in day to day life. He began to gain fame when another big YouTuber Philip Defranco saw one of his videos and gave him a shout out as he enjoyed it. Since that point Shay Carl has made many relationships with top YouTubers appearing in others videos. In the years that Shay Carl began on Youtube being an overweight man decided to lose weight, and did so chronicling the process in his videos. OK Go is a music band, although they didn't start on YouTube they have gained a considerable following due to their videos on Youtube. Most of their music videos consist of unusual performances. Some including dogs doing tricks, a stop animation on thousands of bread slices and a song made of sounds made by a car driving past hundreds of musical instruments and striking them as they go. Brittani Louise Taylor

Brittani Taylor is another YouTuber made famous by her vlogging on Youtube, she is also known for voicing Granny Smith on The Annoying Orange. She is friends with a few of the top subscribed YouTubers.

Kassem G

Kassem G gained fame on YouTube for his videos interviewing various people at different events throughout California, the series is titled, "California On." Over the last several years he has branched out and has other channels as well as videos in which he collaborates with some of the other well known users of the YouTube community.

Freddie Wong

Freddie Wong is one of the highest subscribed users on YouTube, as a filmmaker he debuts most of his work on YouTube. He often combines amazing visual effects and action into his short films and is also a competitive gamer. Freddie has crossed from YouTube into films and television most notably he produced the film Bear and was in the television series Chuck. Currently his main channel on YouTube, freddiew, has nearly 3.5 million subscribers and almost 690 million views.

Lucas Cruikshank

After creating the character Fred Figglehorn, who is apparently supposed to be 6 years old with a very high pitched voice, Lucas found himself in the seat of stardom. He has continued the Fred videos garnering millions of views and has also crossed over into television and films. He has been on icarly, Hanna Montana and other shows, a film series of Fred is also being released and has already had two films, there is also a TV series in the works to debut on Nickelodeon. The main Fred channel now has over 1.9 million subscribers and over 940 million views.

Forest Whaley

An honorable mention in this case goes to Forest Whaley who started his YouTube career in his early teens doing stop motion with Lego. He has branched out into other types of live action short films on YouTube and most recently graduated from high school and has moved to Los Angeles to take a shot at making what he does a career. His channel has over 265 thousand subscribers and over 354 million views.

Wow, I didn't know any of these people before this article! Just goes to show how popular technology is today. I'm sure some of these people listed in your article are a lot more interesting to watch than the likes of The Kardashians, etc. Voted up and interesting!
