6 Ways To Start Every Morning
I love mornings, specifically the time period of dawn. Dawn is a different type of night. It is characterized by an unmistakable stillness. It is a moment where I sometimes feel like I am the only person in the world. I find waking up before anyone in my house is up gives me a chance to prepare my mind, heart, and spirit because it is filled with no external distractions. Each morning brings with it new possibilities, a new start, to move forward, to be encouraged and to gather one's strength again. It is at this moment I take care of me and set my intentions for the day. To be quite honest with you changing over to truly being an early riser is not easy. It is 11:30 pm and I am here working on this post instead of already being in bed, it sure is a work in progress as I daily seek to shift things around so that I can experience consistently the amazing benefits of being an early riser. What I can tell you from experience is whenever I do wake up when the rest of my home gets up, before I get a chance to think, I am bombarded with requests for help, demands, problems to solve and the clutter of issues of the outside world. In this post, I wish to share my morning routine. If I am lucky to get it all done before 8 am, It somehow gives me a greater sense of preparedness, readiness, and focus. This is surely a habit and routine, I daily strive towards especially at this stage of my life.
There are 6 ways I love to start my mornings :
1. Open My Day With A Glass Of Warm Lemon Water
The effects of starting your body's 'awakening' with lemon water are numerous. To be honest, I am not an advocate for not just lemon water but plain water and ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) water as well! I focused on lemon water because it would be the most popular choice for many of you readers.Since I have experienced a few benefits such as:-Glowing skin-No more headaches-Regular morning bowel movements
OK, so my last point was TMI!! (Too Much Information...hahaha). But this practice is legit and if you do a research you will find more than 20 reasons why you must make this a staple habit for all your mornings moving forwards.
2. Spend time Praying, Meditating and Being Grateful
This practice renews my perspective daily of myself, what I do, my family and the world I live in. I find the routine of life and just the cares of this world can make a girl tired, worn, discouraged and irritable. Spending time praying and reading my bible strengthens me and gives me my edge back! Being thankful recalibrates my mindset as a wife, businesswoman, friend, daughter or sibling and I am encouraged to continue to pour more value into these areas of my life!
3. Make or Go-over the Game Plan/ to-do list for the Day.
I honestly prefer to have my list ready the night before. This is because I do remember more 'things' that I have to get done tomorrow while I am going through this day. For some reason, it works better that way with me. I don't know if you guys experience this but I could barely remember anything from the day before when I get up. So when I get up in the morning, it's great to look at my list from the day before.
4. Get the Body movin' and freshen up.
I know these are two tasks but they do go hand in hand. Getting your body moving can be anything. We are all different so for those of you who prefer to start your mornings a bit slower, incorporating a 15-30 stretch or yoga is a fantastic idea. This will get your blood flow pumping, circulating, thereby increasing an overall sense of well being, happiness and calm. Then for those of you who have bigger goals of losing weight, toning up and getting the blood pumping then cardio, weight lifting may be just the thing you need! If it helps to get out of the house a gym membership may be right for you. If you prefer to stay indoors embarking on a challenging in-home workout program will be worth your time. I love to end my workouts with a nice shower and getting ready for the day! It helps to set my mind and attitude towards getting the other stuff on my list DONE. Also if the workout didn't leave you feeling awake, this will surely do the trick!
5. Make the Bed
I can't say enough good things about this practice. It is very strange, but it does give a sense of accomplishment and soon enough you will have more desire to be just a little bit more organized. Before you know it, it will not be stressful to tidy up a bit in each room or ensure your space has been reset in preparation for the next day. Waking up to a living space that has been tidied the night before has an amazing and refreshing benefit for your mindset in the morning. But for now-baby steps!
6. Make a Smoothie or Green juice filled with Fruits and Veggies and take my Supplements.
To be able to function on a daily basis it is important that we see our health as a priority. From this moment on we are going to stop rolling out of bed and facing the world without first fueling our minds and bodies! I honestly think it's unfair to expect our minds and bodies to be able to navigate and juggle the stress factors that are constantly being thrown at us through our jobs or a lengthy commute without proper care and nurturing! So start to incorporate a simple smoothie or green juice and take note over the next few days at how your body and mind respond to this new practice.
