A global movement to eradicate hunger during our lifetimes is being led by Action Against Hunger. In a world that consumes more than 100 trillion calories per year, their goal is to empower small farmers to create healthy, nutritious food for all. The organization has developed a food hub model that builds local, sustainable infrastructure to increase access to healthy, high-quality, and nutritious food. The model uses infrastructure to deliver emergency and nutritional aid to isolated rural villages, thereby saving thousands of lives each year.

The Workforce

There are millions of young unemployed people in the world, they should be given skills so that they can have a career and contribute to society. They should be taught and trained in marketable skills so that they can get jobs. The food industry is in direct competition with other industries to attract new talent and retain existing employees.

The organization wants to prepare the people by exposing them to food science and technology, environmental science, and international trade.

Action Against Hunger organization works in 50 different countries. It aims to eradicate hunger from the globe for good, for everyone. Local businesses globally should reach out to their local partners and employees to deliver services and see how best to help the local people.

Many nations slipped on the ranking of the Global Hunger Index (GHI) and as a result, are on the way to tackling hunger in a good way. 2. Hunger and climate change are linked in a vicious circle. Hunger and climate change are inextricably linked because population growth is linked to environmental degradation and poverty, the intensification of agriculture, land-use changes, deforestation, over-exploitation of natural resources, degradation of the climate, and increased population displacement.

3. Hunger is increasing despite widespread and growing awareness and action, and continues despite billions of dollars in aid, well-funded international agencies, and countless speeches by world leaders. Hunger and climate change must be addressed together and in a holistic, multidimensional, and collective manner.

4. Concern's initiatives to support new revenue streams are one way it may assist. One example of this is the Women in the Field program, which has generated $60 million in revenue for local women in Haiti, Burkina Faso, and South Africa.

During severe food crises, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation estimates that almost one-third of the available food produced is wasted. 9. Investing in the provision of social protection and stability is another way to reduce hunger and poverty.

10. But the biggest single driver of hunger and poverty is the failure of people to have enough food, on which they depend for survival and for making a living. Indeed, the ability to drink water can also protect against illness, reduce health care costs and free up human resources for productive work. Safe water is also essential for the treatment of other illnesses such as malaria and other diarrheal diseases.

12. Not merely drought and flooding are a concern for us. Crops Infection control and investments in risk management to prevent transmission of infectious diseases from animals to humans are essential if we are to control the spread of hunger and poverty.

13. Crops Enhancement with Biofortification - Stemming world hunger and poverty requires massive investments in crop improvement. The genetic modification of crops with maize seeds resistant to glyphosate is a promising technology that holds tremendous potential to provide food security and poverty reduction.


Biofortification of maize seeds with the Green Revolution fortification of micronutrients to make low-value crops, such as cassava, are also vital to improve diets, the nutrition of infants and children and to reduce world hunger.

14. Through the introduction of improved seed varieties and improved breeding practices, seed productivity has improved by about five to 10 times since the introduction of modern technologies, as indicated in the latest Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) Productivity and Food Security report.

15. Commodities and food prices are also a factor to consider. Commodities, which are a major driver of food prices, have seen significant increases in price due to factors such as a rise in production costs (prices for grains, oilseeds, fish, and meat), a shortage of storage capacity, which contributed to a slowdown in the world food trade in the last two years and higher fuel costs.

The average surface-to-output ratio of vertical farms is 4:1, compared to 0.75:1 in traditional agriculture. In theory, vertical farming can increase crop yields while using 70 percent less water than traditional farming.

17. Improve Food Storage - What if you have plenty of food but no storage?

In Ethiopia, most households lack the necessary storage capacity for their food needs. It is common to see food products like rice, wheat, sugar, oil, or potatoes that spoil because of poor storage. The problem of food wastage is also persistent in rural areas where storing food is inadequate. The gap has also widened in urban areas because most households do not have a storage facility or do not know how to store their food. To improve storage capacity, businesses have come up with technology-driven solutions such as solar-powered cold storage and automated storage facilities. These expensive solutions do not benefit small-scale farmers or poor urban households. The average food loss from households and workplaces in Ethiopia is estimated at 35 percent.

18. Sustainable and Responsible Agricultural Mechanization - Most food is produced by small-scale, subsistence farmers, over 75 percent of whom have less than 2 hectares of land.

Only a few of the smallholders can afford modern agricultural equipment, which is usually expensive, forcing them to seek out local, informal, low-cost solutions to agricultural tasks. In the absence of sustainable and organized mechanization, smallholders resort to dangerous and archaic tools.
