7 Ways To Effectively Work From Home (Easy Tips)

He loves to write. It is his passion. It is also his time of reflection and a time to discover more about life.

The CoViD-19 Pandemic has tested our versatility to adapt to the new lifestyle it caused: from our appearance (the wearing of facemask), our spendings (prioritizing what is NECESSARY over luxury), our movement (staying at home, social distancing, going out for VERY IMPORTANT PURPOSE), up to our work (particularly the clerical, IT jobs, and the like have to be done at home). With those changes, many believed that working from home was the most challenging. Though it could be of great comfort and appeasement from the anxiety of getting contracted by the virus, it could cause conflicts between doing your office work and doing household chores. As a result, there would be a division of your focus.

For that reason, I come up with the following tips or ways for you to work productively and effectively at home.

1. Create a Work Station

Since you will be working at home, then you need first to set up your work station. You could have a working table or a working area if the space permits or whichever you prefer as long as it is away from where your family members crowd. It should be a space that could give you a working vibe.

2. Create a Work Plan

It is helpful if you are guided on what to finish day by day. In order not to be overwhelmed with work, try to dissect the entire project into smaller tasks which can be done weekly, then further dissect into daily tasks. Also, creating a to-do list will be a helpful reminder of what to be done and also a good monitoring tool for what task you finished. More importantly, ensure to set your reminder alarm for any virtual conference day and/or hours ahead so that you can prepare.

3. Do All Your Household Chores First

Being at home, it is natural to feel responsible for household chores. So, to have a smooth flow of work, it is better to accomplish first all your household chores before sitting yourself in front of your computer. With this note, you need to get up early.

4. Be Flexible With Your Time

In any case that it is inevitable for you not to be distracted, then you only have to adjust your time. Working from home does not mean that you strictly follow the 8 hours straight. As long as you can hit your target for the day, then you are good. However, a virtual conference must not be missed at any cost.

5. Keep Track Your Progress

This is very helpful especially when you have interruptions in between. So your to-do list would be of great help to get you back on track.

6. If You Have Kids, Get Them Something To Do

A busy child would not be a problem when working at home. You can come up with creative activities for your child to kill the time while you are doing some work. It can be coloring activities or educational shows on TV or youtube.

7. Ask For Help or Assistance

When all things fall off from your grip, then be humble enough to ask assistance from other people in your house. There will always be someone available for sure. But if not, then time for you to hire.

This is a very useful and relevant article. I wonder how many people will prefer working from home and will continue after this pandemic.

Thankfully I don’t have that challenge. I took on my sister’s child for a month but she wanted to micromanage every detail so we sent him back. Parents need to know how to accept the quality help that is offered.
