19 Things to Leave Behind in 2019!

As we come to the close of 2019, wouldn’t it be good if you left behind certain things and not carry them forward in 2020?

I have listed below 19 things that you need to leave behind and enter the new year on a positive note.

1. Staying in Your Comfort Zone

It’s very easy to stay in your comfort zone. It's comfortable and it's cozy but it will not take us anywhere.

So decide that in the new year you will not stay in your comfort zone but will come out of it.

Decide to embark on new adventures that may be a bit risky and you may be somewhat apprehensive about them.

But soon you will realize that coming out of the comfort zone was one of the best decisions of your life.

2. Caring What Other People Think

Many people build their life depending upon what others think about them. It’s not important what others’ opinions about you are. Each person will have a different opinion depending on their own perspective.

You don’t need to run your life on the basis of people’s opinions about you. You need to run your life according to your own purpose and goals.

Therefore you need to stop thinking about what other people expect from you and start living your own life.

3. Trying to Please Everyone

Related to my last point, it's human nature to try to please everyone. You need to realize that you cannot please everyone. Stop trying to do it.

No matter how much you try to please others, it’s just impossible to please everyone. You need to come to terms with this truth and accept it once and for all.

Go into the new year with the decision that you are not going to try to please everybody. Do what needs to be done with your goals in mind.

4. Negative Self Talk

If you have indulged in negative self-talk this year, then decide to get rid of such talk. Train yourself to speak positively and constructively about yourself. Stop demeaning yourself and stop belittling yourself.

In the New Year, start speaking positive affirmations and see how the magic happens in your life. By the end of the year, you will have made tremendous progress as a result of getting rid of negative talk and positively affirming your value and worth.

5. Procrastination

One problem that we have all suffer from is that of procrastinating things. In the New Year decide to stop procrastinating completely.

Start taking action and take action quickly. If you start taking quick action in the New Year, you start seeing fast results.

So discipline yourself in what needs to be done and do it fast.

Leave the past behind. Its time to move on to bigger and better things

6. Small Thinking

Another bad habit that you need to rid yourself of in the new year is the habit of small thinking. Start thinking big. As a man starts thinking in his mind so shall he become.

Everything starts as an idea in the mind whether negative or positive. So be careful what thoughts you're cultivating in your mind because the mind is the cultivating ground for anything that happens in your life.

Instead of sowing seeds which will bring up thorns in your life, sow good seeds so it will bring beautiful trees with fruits and flowers. Start thinking and imagining success, scaling new heights, and positivity in your life.

7. Toxic Habits

One more thing which you need to get rid of in the New Year is toxic habits. Toxic habits are habits that poison your mind and your life.

Some of these habits may be getting up late, going to sleep late, spending a lot of time browsing mindlessly on the Internet, eating junk food, not exercising, and many others.

Resolve in your mind that you will get rid of all these toxic habits in 2020 and replace them with the opposite, good habits.

8. Yesterdays Failures and Successes

Stop thinking about your failures in 2019. I want to encourage you to stop thinking even about your success in 2019.

Don’t rest on your past laurels, and don’t be discouraged by your past setbacks.

Treat setbacks as stepping stones to success. Be encouraged by your success but don’t let them make you overconfident.

9. Self-Doubt

You absolutely need to get rid of self-doubt and self-sabotage. Don’t doubt for a moment your abilities and your capabilities. Make positive affirmations - ‘I am able’, ‘I can do it’,’ I have what it takes’, ‘not only can I do it, but I will do it.’

You need to think positively and you need to speak positively. Get into the right mindset of positivity and see how it will affect your actions in 2020.

10. Excuses

In the New Year, it will be beneficial for you if you stop making excuses.

Instead start finding new opportunities to do wonderful new things related to your goals and your purposes. Excuses will get you nowhere.

So stop thinking about excuses for not doing things and look for new opportunities to get things done.

Leave your past behind you. It's history now. Don't feel trapped in it. Set yourself free and just be

11. Comparison With Others

It’s a common problem to compare ourselves with others. You need to remove this attitude from your mind completely. Every person is unique and has unique talents, skills, and personalities. So it doesn’t make sense to compare yourself with others.

Albert Einstein wrote, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

In the same way, we are all different so we need to accept that fact and carry on into the new year.

12. A Mindset of Scarcity

Get rid of a mindset of scarcity and start developing a mindset of abundance. Think in terms of success, prosperity, and achievement of goals.

Develop the right mindset and it will lead to the right actions and ultimately they will produce magnificent results.

13. Things That No Longer Serve Our Purpose

There are certain things there in our life for a season. We need to have the wisdom to let go of things once the season is over

There are certain things in your life which may be useful during that particular period but now they have lost their use so get rid of them. Get rid of systems, equipment, and methods that no longer work for you.

14. Toxic Relationships

Relationships can make you or break you. Be very careful about what relationships you cultivate and how you cultivate them.

By all means, stay away from every toxic relationship in your life. Such relationships will drain the life out of you.

On the other hand, cultivate relationships that add value and worth to your life.

15. Overthinking

Stop overthinking about everything. There are times when you need to think and take action immediately.

If you can't perform certain things because of overthinking, then it will become like analysis paralysis. It will stop you from making decisions that will affect your life for good.

Stop overthinking and start taking massive action.

16. Being a Doormat

Stop being a doormat. By a doormat, I mean to say don’t allow everyone to step on you.

Maintain your self worth and value and have boundaries around your life. Don’t let people think that you are nobody and don’t let them abuse you.

And if someone starts to do that you need to confront them and stop them immediately.

17. Unproductive Activities and Talks

Stop activities and talks that are unproductive and helpful for achieving your goals.

Be intentional in your talking and your activities. Only talk about those things which contribute towards your goals.

18. Spending Money Recklessly

Get rid of the habit of spending money just for the sake of spending it. Start developing the habit of managing your finances properly.

Don’t take loans as far as possible. Definitely avoid using credit cards if you can. Be careful that you spend on your needs and not on your wants. As Abraham Maslow said about human psychology that human wants are never satisfied.

Learn how to budget your expenses and then strictly follow the budget. This will help you to build a good corpus for future goals like education, marriage, retirement, or a vacation.

Be good stewards of the finances that you receive.

19. Get Rid of Negativity and Create an Atmosphere of Positivism

In the New Year, right from the beginning, start creating an atmosphere of positivity, possibilities, goodness, and prosperity.

Start reading books that will motivate you and inspire you. Start listening to podcasts by motivators.

Watch videos that will bring you much-needed encouragement on your journey towards success in the New Year.
