Ever been driving somewhere and suddenly your car starts to stall and comes to a complete stop? I'm sure you have! It happens to everyone at one point or another. If you're like me, I'm pretty sure you learned the hard way about not being prepared at all times for when the unexpected happens. It can happen to anyone at anytime and it's fine, it's just part of everyday life, but when it catches you by surprise, it can definitely be a pain the rear. However, just because it can happen to anyone, doesn't mean it should happen to you and you should not try to avoid the hassle and be prepared right? Therefore, I'm going to save you the hassle and list the 5 must have tools to carry in your car at all times.
5. Tool box!
You'll never know when you might need a screw driver, a hammer, some nuts and bolts, a socket wrench, some fuses or what not. Just in case, always carry tool box in the trunk, I assure you that you will end up using it quite often, even when it's not even an emergency.
4. A torque wrench!
A torque wrench always comes in handy when needing to tighten up all the bolts that lead to the most important parts of your vehicle, it is always good to have everything up to manufacture regulations, so never forget to check and to tighten up your wheels, it is better to be safe than sorry, just like my parents tell me all the time.
3. Jack and Jack stands.
Most cars now a days come with the jack included in the trunk, however, for those of us that own older cars that did not come with one, it is always good to check if we have one there. In case you don't have one, you can always just go to your local Auto Zone or O'reillys and pick one up. Don't worry though, they are fairly inexpensive and you can find the cheapest one with a good weight limit starting anywhere around $15. Also, do not forget the Jack stands, they will come in handy when you need to do any type of work on your car, whether it's for changing a tire or doing an oil change.
2. Spare tire.
I know the spare tire doesn't necessarily count as a tool, but it is one of the most important parts of your vehicle that should always be kept in top notch shape. Always make sure to carry a spare, it doesn't even have to be a full size spare, the "doughnut" as we all seem to refer to it, will still get the job done. Just remember that with the "doughnut " you should only use it to get from point A to point B.
If all else fails, always make sure to have some money ready to dish out for the repairs. I know we hate it when we can't fix our vehicle ourselves, but hey, it happens from time to time. It may possibly be the best tool there is out there for the not so savy mechanics of this world.
So there it is, our list of the top 5 tools that anyone and everyone should have at all times no matter what the situation happens to be. If you don't have all of them, that's absolutely fine, but please try and make sure to have as many as you can, because you never know when you might be in need of any of 5 listed above. If you like the list or if we missed something, please be sure to drop a comment below and let us know if we can improve on anything. And as always, feedback is gladly welcomed!.
