Automated vehicles can well be described as driverless cars. They sense the environment around it and navigates without human interference. In this paper, I will be looking into the benefits and opposing sides of adopting the automated cars and finally analyzing the results to identify whether the costs outweigh the benefits.

AVs are helpful as they will remove unnecessary demands for parking. In the current transport sector, there is always the urge of drivers to park almost everywhere. Some cities have devoted nearly a third of their land to parking. This land, with the introduction of AVs, can be used in other ways, which may generate incomes for the cities. These vehicles can drop the passages and park themselves away from the central business district where the parking is ample. When the land is used in a better way, it will improve people living within that area.

There will be more effective and affordable taxis because there will be no extra fuel cost or the cab driver's time on the road due to traffic congestion. This is very favorable to the commuters as they will save on the price they could otherwise use when commuting.

The cost of implementing this new technology may vary very much. This may make the countries borrow large debts, which may cause a country's economy to go down. The technology would require laptops, software engineers, and other equipment that their initial buying cost and Maintenance cost are very high. On the other hand, despite the car being operated technologically, human resources services must control the machines used by this technology. This will make a person undergo some education, which is also extra costs for the technology to work. The human resources personnel are to manage and operate the computers using the knowledge acquired in school for the vehicles to reach their destination safely.

Like any other technology, AVs technology is subject to hacking, which might cause significant challenges and threats in the transport sector. AVs technology's cost and time-saving aspect will be utilized if the commuters themselves will be ready to opt in the new technology. If the self-driving element is not adopted in a wide range of nations, accidents will still be occurring globally.

Additionally, there will be massive job losses in the transport sector, starting with drivers to all other industry stakeholders. AVs will make people's living standards to deteriorate. Unemployment might come with other negative impacts, such as increased crime rate and suicidal attempts. Self-driving cars may not be able to operate mainly during harsh weather conditions. Heavy rain can cause the sensors and the computers not to function correctly; this, in the long run, might yield a fatal accident.

Automated vehicles' success is solely in the Global Positioning System's hands. This is always a challenge as not all GPS data is accurate, and one might get lost as he is trying to look for the destination.

Those that do driving as a hobby are likely not to buy the technology as they will see that as unfair competition, and they may keep their vehicles and be using them instead of using the automated cars.
