Harley Sportster Battery Removal
To remove the battery from your Harley Sportster is very simple. If I can do it then anyone can do it! All you will need is a socket set or the correct sized spanner/adjustable spanner. My battery on my bike went flat the other day as winter is fast approaching and I hadn't been out for a ride for about 2 weeks. The first thing you will need to do is remove your seat. There should be a little bolt just behind the rear of the seat which I was able to undo with my fingers. Now to remove the seat fully you will need to push it forwards and unlatch it from a latch which is underneath the seat. I have included a picture below so that you can see what I mean also see my video which I will post below.
Battery Cover Removal
Now that you have removed the seat it is time to remove the battery cover. This is very simple you just have to pull the battery cover from the top to un clip it and then you need to lift it up to unlatch it from the bottom latch. If you don't understand what I mean check my video out below.

Un Plug The Connector
Now that you have removed the battery cover you will see an electrical connector within. You will have to disconnect this connector. To disconnect this connector there are two buttons at the top of the connector which you will have to hold down and then you should be able to separate the connector. Also within the connector is a green adapter which you will also have to remove. (See the pictures below )
Remove The Battery Bracket
The next step is to remove the bracket which holds the battery in place. All you will need to do is un do the bolt at the bottom of the bracket and it will come right off. You could use a socket set or an adjustable spanner to do this. Well the spanner doesn't have to be adjustable if you find the right size.

Remove The Battery Terminals
Now the final step is to remove the battery terminals. To do this I used an adjustable spanner. Remove covering and the bolt is to the end of the terminal as you can see in the picture below. Once you have removed the positive side you can pull the battery through and remove the negative terminal.
So as you can see it is very easy to remove the battery from your Harley Sportster. Thanks your reading my hub and don't forget to check out my video below which shows you step by step.
