Custom Donk Cars
What's a Donk?
A Donk is a car that has outrageously large wheels on it. Mostly old American cars are Donk creations, however, ANY car is a candidate to be a Donk.
A while back, 17" wheels were considered big. Then, when Hummers came around, 20" wheels were considered really big. Then, 22" and 24" wheels became big. Sizes up to 30" have been known to be seen on Donks.
Another highlight of Donks is that of a custom paint job. You see outrageous colors in candy and bright colors.
Donks also have crazy themes.
What is the origin of Donks?
It is known that Donks originated in the South or "Dirty South." Donks were made popular via rap music culture, music videos and in some movies.
What are other names for Donk's?
Other than being called Donks, they're also called Hi-Risers, High Risers, Bubbles, Skyscrapers and Boxes.
Controversy About Why Donks are unsafe
Donks are unsafe because of many factors.
1. Large wheels were not meant to be put on a car. When you put larger wheels of this nature on a car, it messes up the speedometer. You don't know how fast you truly are going. Of course, with a Donk, the goal is probably not going fast anyway.
2. Braking becomes harder to do. Stopping the car takes more effort from the brakes because of the larger wheels and tires on the car. Slowing down is harder to do and makes it unsafe. Of course, you probably are not going fast in a Donk as previously said.
Donks usually have a theme
Themes of Donks are.....ridiculous. Just take a look at some examples.

This McDonald's themed Donk is just crazy. It's painted red and yellow to match the McDonald's theme. But, those painted wheels are horrible. Notice how they have to put how big the wheels are on the window.
Donk Wheels
The all important and crucial factor that makes a Donk is the wheels on them. You've got to have wheels bigger than 24" in order for the ride to be qualified as a Donk.
