Patchwork Craft Techniques - Scrap Fabric Projects Ideas

Patchwork Fabric Craft Ideas

Patchwork is a fabric fun craft. In my own words, patchwork is an art of getting all your scrap fabrics and use them, in other words recycle the fabrics and on the process produce stylish and decorative project results of your choice.

The best fabric for any patchwork craft has been known to be cotton as you can easily cut and sew cotton without it fraying.

You can use old clothes, unused fabrics such as pillowcase, bed covers, any fabric that are just lying about at your home. On the other hand, you can buy patchwork materials from arts and crafts store near you.

Fabrics to avoid in patchwork are stretchy fabrics, furnishing fabrics, velvet and knit fabrics.

Different types of machine stitch can be used in sewing your patchwork projects. To join patchwork projects when they are tacked over paper patterns, use whip stitch, and to join two folded fabric edges together, use slip stitch.

You can make several patchwork craft projects from combination of fabric scraps. These are some of the fabric patchworks you can make using scraps of fabrics : patchwork earrings, notice board, pincushion, bags, cot quilt, wall hanging, table mat, greeting cards, patchwork cushion, plus many more.

That's a good idea Tealparadise. Recycling the old fabric for something useful is the way to go. Thanks.

Love these ideas! All the leftover fabric after a project ends up just sitting in my closet until it gets tossed. These are some great ideas! Pinning :D
