My Egg Art ~
For many years I have painted Easter Eggs with different subjects and themes, from real shell eggs to wooden eggs, even some styrofoam.
Since I paint miniature paintings and small rocks...I thought this would be another way for me to be creative. Making them to hang from a branch or tree or to be displayed on a stand, what ever suits you.
Clients from different countries have my had me paint eggs of their pets or animals that they liked, even Holiday themes. All painted eggs are "one of a kind" and a pleasure to have painted them.
If you look closely at the above image, you can see the crack in the egg. I accidentally cracked it just after having finished painting it. I was upset with myself, but said, Oh well, it still looked good...but unfortunately it finally fell apart.
A bird image on an egg
A little bird...
This particular egg has two different images on each side, divided by top and bottom...One a little bird on a branch and flowers on the bottom...divided by a satin ribbon and a silver thread for hanging.
Chickens on an egg
The other side...
This is the other side featuring a rooster and hen on the top side and the chicks on the bottom.
For me it's important to paint the theme all the way around the egg.
Easter egg decoration items - Books and Kits
Great items featured here to make that egg look beautiful...give it a try!
Horses featured on an egg
Two horses with doves
If you know my artwork then you know I specialize in horses, this one has two horses one on each side, with doves flying around the egg and tiny specks of glitter and a hanging silver string anchored with a pearl.
Below, the whole egg viewed all the way around.
All the Way Around the Egg...
Three different images
Different Easter themes displayed on these eggs. The bunny egg on the left was painted with Gesso to give it texture and laid on its side for display, the middle egg with birds is displayed on the top of the page, right side egg was an idea from an antique plate that the client wanted duplicated.
Horse Racing, Troikas and Wild Animals
All types of themes
Many types of scenes can be painted on eggs...on the left from top to bottom showing the image all the way around are Race Horses...second image is an egg actually made for Xmas, it's Saint Nickolas driving a Troika...the one on the right side has a Tiger, Gazelles and a Zebra...all these eggs were commissions.
In the Spring time...
one of my wooden eggs sold on eBay. Showing two foals prancing in a Spring time setting, with bunnies and birds.
I received orders of the same image, but I will not duplicate, as I want "one of a kind" and they will never be exactly the same....similar yes.
Oprah Winfrey's Cocker Spaniels -
Solomon and Sophia
This is one of two of my favorite eggs I have done, actually I did them twice because the first set got destroyed by a cleaning person.
This egg has a great deal of detail, from a statue of a Roman man riding a Horse, including a column, water fountain with a lion head, birds and landscape.
These eggs were commissioned for an Easter basket for OW's plane. The images on these eggs are Solomon and Sophia the two cocker spaniels belonging to Oprah...each egg has a different setting...I wish I had painted them on wood.
Another egg with the Oprah's dogs
Here again Sophia and Solomon playing in a country field, with flowers, birds, butterflies and bunnies.

Paint scratched away for designs
Made in Germany
My cousin Beatrix in Germany is also an artist, her long time friend painting these eggs and gave them to her for Easter....They are unique and pretty, made by scratching the paint away.
I Thank my cousin for allowing me to share these egg photos on my page.
Done with felt tip pen
Unique painted Eggs -
As I mentioned above, these Easter eggs are from a German friend, made especially for my cousin Trixi, as gifts...done with felt tip pen, added beads and feathers...great idea!
How I paint and what I use preparing my Eggs
easy and fun...
- I sometimes dye the egg a color or just use it white as is, and then draw out the image on the egg in pencil.
- I use Acrylic paints because it dries immediately.
- When finished, I seal the painted eggs with a clear acrylic sealer, I prefer a satin finish.
- My brushes are inexpensive and very fine, including 00 brush for details.
- If I add a string to a blown out egg, I will add it on with a small bead to anchor it. I prefer to use wood eggs or plastic, they don't break as easily.
- I have embellished eggs with glitter and sequence or jewels, even ribbons, there are so many ways you can embellish to make them different, yet one of a kind.

Larger Wooden Egg - Friesian Horse Motif
This wooden egg was painted Gold and then a lose style image of a Friesian Horse painted on it.
Styrofoam Egg all the way around
A Styrofoam Egg!
I had gone to the Dollar Store to buy some cleaning products, while there I saw all the Easter decorations including this package of Styrofoam Eggs. I thought to myself, I've painted on Styrofoam box lids before maybe this would be a fun project..if it doesn't turn out Ill put glitter on them.
I chose to paint a scene of a friends dog finding an Easter basket and all the critters around were watching. The one hard thing about painting on a small piece of Styrofoam was the weight, there was none...it would blow away quite easily. At the end I was pleased with the finished products, but I doubt I'll do it again.
Miscellaneous items for a decorative Easter
Add Pastel lights, candy filled plastic eggs with decals on them, a plate with homemade chocolate candy, with the Bunny Easter Egg Carousel holding all the decorated eggs... what fun!

just an aside. One of the only ways my body will absorb iron is by eating eggs. I eat two a day and since doing this, my cholesterol has never been better! They think the high cholesterol people get is because of what they eat WITH the eggs. Just had to share after taking the egg decorating poll. Great lens!

Wow, such talent amazes me. Painting on a surface that is flat is challenging enough...but to do it on such an oval surface, in the round, and still keep the integrity of the image is nothing short of amazing. Beautiful work, beautiful lens. Blessed by a SquidAngel.

Brought back memories of my mom's painted Easter eggs. When I was little my mom had these seven faces she would paint on eggs every Easter. I wish I could remember them. I don't think anyone ever took any photos. They would be part of my Easter morning surprise. And then, of course, I'd gobble them up.
