Although I no longer do this craft myself due to hand and wrist issues, a close friend who is a complete technophobe wanted help finding some projects that she could make for her daughter who was rather keen on the books and then the movies. So, since I found the information, I thought I'd share it!
Find designs listed here that have been inspired by the hugely popular books by Suzanne Collins and the movie(s) featuring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. I've tried to theme ideas and the instructions I could find into sections for main characters and items such as Katniss Everdeen, Mockingjay Bird motifs, District 1-12 charts, flame and fire themed items and other fun things that you can start making right away. I just hope the odds are with your needles!

Suggested Colors of Yarn - Here's Some Color Inspiration
With the famed and iconic fiction bird as well as all the references to fire and flames, it's no wonder that you'll probably want to use plenty of yellow, red and orange colored yarns and wools for your finished designs. Contrasting beautifully with those bright shades is black which will make a great backdrop for these hues.
Katniss Everdeen is the main character of The Hunger Games and she has had to learn to be a hunter to provide for her family. Her preferred weapon is a bow and arrow with which she can stalk prey.
This female hunter poster reminded me of Katniss and it even looks like her facially if you see it close up. A strong female character who relies on no-one but herself to achieve what she wants to. Katniss, and the very idea of her, is someone to aspire to be. I hope you've enjoyed reading this hub today, thanks for your visit. There are only a few Katniss knitting patterns which I have managed to find so far (do let me know if you discover any more on your travels) but they are really great patterns which any Hunger Games fan would be thrilled with.
If you need more patterns- check out Ravelry (you need to log in to that site with a free account) where you will find some more available too, come paid for and some for nothing.

The Mockingjay bird is a fictional bird from The HG books and movie. It's a very common motif that people associate with this series so is a good one to knit. The main character, Katniss, was given a beautiful gold Mockingjay pin by the mayor's daughter from her District - District No. 12.
The Mockingjay is said to be a cross between a Mockingbird and a Jabberjay which isn't a real bird. You'll find lots of great bird motifs and 3D knitting projects below. It will be most recognizable if knitted in gold or orange colors against a black background - similar to this hummingbird design which I've enclosed. Find more ideas on this theme below that you can use.
