Happy Face Clipart

Happy Face Clip Art and Clip Art Origins

Happy face clip art is one of many different kinds of clip art offered on the internet. Many people love this kind of clip art simply because it can bring joy and happiness to the viewer. Happy face clip art can also be used for personal projects, as gifts for friends, when responding to comments or even for professional projects.

Finding this kind of clip art for free can be a daunting task indeed. Clip art that is advertised as royalty free is not always free. Learning the difference of what is really free and what is not can save you a lot of head aches.

Now lets take a look at some history about the origins of clip art. The origins of clip art can be traced back to the 1960s when people would cut images out of magazines to use in projects and for school homework assignments. Since the birth of the internet these images have came into popularity and retained their original name.

Happy Face Clip Art Terms Of Use

When it comes to using different websites the terms of use restrictions can be very confusing. From public domain, standard restrictions to royalty free. Some people even give up after searching because they can't find images that are free or that have no copyright restrictions attached.

Royalty free means that you will not have to pay the original author for using their images. Royalty free is often mistaken for costing nothing, but in most cases images that are royalty free will cost a one time fee.

Public domain images are free to use by the public. Public domain images usually include images that have been around for a long time, and are now in the public domain. An example would be clip art from early Disney movies like pictures of Micky Mouse.

In some cases paying for images can be a good idea because the quality and selection of images is sure to increase. If you are searching for images for a project you may come up empty when searching through free public domain resources. Just be careful that you don't pay too much for the royalty free image you are after.

Some websites that charge for clip art and images will have hidden terms that can cause you headaches later on. For example one website told me I couldn't use the picture I just bought for a company logo

Where To Find Free Clip Art

When looking for happy face clip art that's free many people simply never find what they are looking for. Many websites use misleading terms to attract visitors and then charge for the images once you get there.

Some sites offering images that are free have special copyright restrictions. This is why it is always important to read the fine print. Some users that submit their images to free stock image sites want to be notified when you want to use their image. This can lead to frustration because a lot of the time you will not be able to get in touch with the user. This is especially true for older images.

One other kind of restriction is making you include a link with the picture on your website. This is fine in some cases, but not if you want to create a professional project. Only download images where this method of attribution is optional.

You will want to find websites that clearly lay out the terms of use before downloading any images. Ensure that all clip art is in fact free to use with no restrictions. This will help you to avoid trouble down the road. There are literally thousands of great public domain and free stock photo websites out there. Use some of the tips we went over above to help in your search for the site that is right for you.

You Very Own Custom Clip Art

Have you ever thought of creating your own clip art? Don't put this option past you because this can be a very fun little project. I made my first clip art images using MS Paint. I have since moved on to more advanced picture editing programs such Photoshop, but you can still learn a lot from Paint.

MS Paint is a good place to start if you have no experience with photo editing and don't want to make the investment in an expensive picture editing software.

For those that don't own Photoshop or MS Paint but want to make their own clip art you're in luck. Youtube user teachnbeach has crafted a tutorial teaching you how to use MS Word to make your very own customized clip art images. It is quite amazing that he was able to use Word to accomplish this. Hi, thanks for including a link to my clip art. However, I want to point out that my clip art is NOT part of the public domain.
