Winter Holiday Egg Decorations
My mother Lorinda's hobby has produced a collection of decorated eggs that is entertainment to see. She displays her eggs in four curio cabinets and at age 94 she still arranges and meticulously cleans the cabinets to show off the intricacies of each perfect work of art.
Most of the works are peek eggs. You peek inside to see a miniature diorama or scene. The ostrich eggs are big enough to stand back and admire like the one to the left.
Part of any art is finding. Finding what is in your mind or in the world. Lorinda enjoyed the gathering process for all her egg arrangements.
This is a collection of winter holiday themes. Red is the color and egg decoration is raised to such new heights that even the Easter bunny would be envious.
Carved Ostrich Egg
Christmas is a Favorite Holiday.
It is only September and all the eggs Mom has made for her holiday tree are still packed away. In December I will add to this page the whole collection that goes onto Lorinda's unique floor to ceiling tree. It is an artificial tree so the weight of the embellished eggs will not bring the whole thing crashing down.
Come back at the holidays for a sight to see.
a/o Dec. 6th 2009. Lorinda has ordered new carpeting and we fear her egg tree will not be put up this year. First time ever! The pictures I have promised you in this page will have to wait for 2010.
Eggs In A Display Cabinet
This cabinet is bigger and has more shelves than the other three curios in this same room.
A quail egg no bigger than an inch high. Santa selected just for this creation.
Tree Decorated for 2010
All of the Christmas larger ornaments are placed on this tree.
A Few of Lorinda's Mini Egg Ornaments
The mini eggs above are quail eggs. Lorinda has a special table tree for these tiny egg creations.

These are beautiful. I have never made anything as elaborate but I still have a Christmas ornament I made with my son years ago out of a chicken egg. It has lasted for 30+ years. What memories!

These are wonderful. We have one of these type of eggs that a friend made us when we visited her in England...it is very special...similar to the gold one in this lens but with our names on it. I added this to my favorites and I'm looking forward to seeing the holiday ones when you add them. 5*
