Cute Floppy Ear Animal Hat
FREE Bunny crochet Hat Pattern! How about this adorable cute and free hat pattern complete with floppy bunny ears and gorgeous crocheted flower? Great for the kids this easter. Or can be used as a fabulous newborn photo prop.
Do you look at this and think it difficult to make? then think again. Even as a beginner at crochet, I have worked out an easy to follow pattern that means you can make this delightful hat with ears, perfect for your little baby bunny bundle.
Once you have made the easy baby beanie, make the bunny ears and add a little puff handmade flower(s) to add a little pizazz.
You could also make the bunnies ears and attatch them to a childs hair band, great for Easter dress up

Easy Baby Basic Baby Beanie ....just add the ears! - not only the easiest but also the cutest hat for baby this Easter
Instructions for The EASY Baby Hat Pattern
This pattern is the basic baby beanie crochet hat,, and the one I use the most, it is so adaptable that you can just keep increasing, in the pattern established in every round until desired size/ head Circumference is achieved.
For new-born - 3 months size I used 2 strands of White Baby Double (worsted) knit held together, and a 4.00mm hook
Work 12 DC into magic circle pull to tighten, Alternatively chain 5 slip to join and work 12 dc into the ring you have just created.
Rnd1. CH 2 1 DC in same stitch, 2DC in each stitch to the end, join with sl st
Rnd2. CH2, 1 DC in same stitch, *1 DC in next st, 2 DC in next st* to end, join with sl st
Rnd3 Ch2, 1DC in same stitch, * 1DC in next 2 stitches, 2DC in next,* repeat to end join with sl stitch (if you need a bigger hat then continue to increase by 2DC in 3rd st of next round, 4th stitch of next round etc, until desired circumference is reached)
Rnd4. CH2 DC in each stitch to end join with Sl St
Rnd5-Rnd8. continue in DC (or until length required) Finish off, and weave ends in neatly.
How To Crochet The Bunny Ears
SO Easy to make.
I used 2 strands worked together of Baby Double Knit Cygnet yarn and a 4.00mm hook
A lot of people have contacted me on how to keep the bunny ears standing up, I have found that the tighter I make the stitch for the ears for example changing it to 1/2 DC or SC for the ears makes it tighter and hence make the ears stand up better, or if you want to keep the same stitch, then when attaching the ears pull more of the back down to make a more solid base for the ear to stand up with!
Stitch used: Double crochet
Make 2 in main color (outer ear) Make 2 Inner in Pink
work 1 Double crochet (DC) in 2nd ch. from hook. work DC in each of next 21 sts., 4 DC in last stitch. continue around (DO NOT TURN, we are going to work back along the chain)
4 DC in 1st stitch working back along the chain
1DC in each until last st.
4DC in last st. continue around, when you get to the end, I usually end with 6 slip st along this end (as this is where the ear will be sewn onto the hat, and gives it a good foundation) finish off and leave long tail for sewing onto hat.
Inner Ear (Pink) (make 2)
work 1 Double crochet (DC) in 2nd ch. from hook. work DC in each of next 21 sts., 4 DC in last stitch. continue around (DO NOT TURN, we are going to work back along the chain) 4 DC in 1st stitch slip stitch into 1st DC and finish off.....leave a long tail to sew inner ear onto outer ear.
