Cat Face Paint -- Kitty Cat Face Painting Designs

5 Fun Cat Face Paint Designs to Transform You into a Halloween Kitty!

A cat is an all-time favorite look for Halloween and one that can be recreated with face paint. Here you will find 5 different cat face painting looks: a rainbow kitty for kids; an even more colorful rainbow design for everyone; an unusual Egyptian style cat face paint design; and an appealing but minimal look for teens and women wanting to look their best on a night out.

Halloween is a perfect time to try out these feline inspired looks, but they could also work for a costume party at other times of years. Cat eyes are mysterious, feminine and bound to make you the center of attention no matter what the occasion.

Face painting can be a lot of fun when you know how. I hope these cool cat face paint video tutorials and tips inspire you to give it a go!

Rainbow Kitty Face Painting for Children - A cat face paint design for little girls by Michiganfacepainterz

Cindy of Michigan Face Painters is the artist creating this face painting of a cat for a little girl. This speeded up video is quick, but I've broken it down below into a step-by-step face painting guide.

The little girl looks a bit worried in this one, but doesn't she look pleased with how her cat face paint turned out!

A Step-by-Step Guide to the Kids' Cat Face Paint Design

Recreate this little girl's Rainbow Kitty face painting

Step 1:

Apply white face paint to child's nose and cheeks, sweeping up slightly above her eyebrows (this will become the cat's ears). The face paint will look like a white butterfly at this point.

Step 2:

Add some sparkle with glitter.

Step 3:

Use a wide sponge to add color in a sweep from outer eyebrow down and across the cheek. In the video the face paint artist uses neon pink, orange and green to create a rainbow effect. Blend this in and ensure top color (pink in the video) is swept up in triangular points over eyebrows for kitty ears.

Step 4:

Add face glitter to the cat ear triangles. In the video, pink face glitter is used. Add a little more silver face glitter to cheeks and chin. This is going to be one sparkly kitty cat!

Step 5:

Use black face paint on a brush to sweep up lines to define the cat's ears. Think Mr Spock eyebrows! Add 3 smaller lines in the cat ear triangle. This will look a bit like a bird's wing.

Step 6:

With black face paint and brush, paint a curve from each corner of mouth towards outer edges of nose. Add more lines going up the cheeks as cat fur.

Step 7:

Fill in the gaps around the cat face: a couple of black lines painted at the top of the cheek and some fine vertical lines between the eyebrows to join the cat ears together. Add a black line from nose to mouth, and a line across upper lip -- thicker in the middle. With black face paint, make a shallow v just above the nostrils for a cat nose.

Step 8:

Add cat tongue with red face paint on the bottom lip.

A Rainbow of Face Paint Colors - Create a Rainbow Kitty in her Favorite Colors

Snazaroo face paints are always a popular choice and are available in many different palette sizes. Of course, the bigger the palette, the more choice of colors you have! Remember, cat face paint doesn't have to use boring colors.

Rainbow Cat Face Paint - A Cute and Colorful Design for Everyone!

Vi at Sparklingfaces shows you, in a 4 minuted speed tutorial, how she achieved an eye-catching face painting of a cat in rainbow colors. Again, step-by-step face painting instructions follow the video.

You can only see this cat face paint half done here, so be sure to watch the video -- the end result is adorable!

A Step-by-Step Guide to SparklingFaces' Cat Face Paint Design

How to Recreate the Rainbow Cat Face Painting

Step 1:

Use a high-density face painting sponge to apply yellow face paint to your face in a mask pattern, extending on each side from nose down to mouth. At the top, the yellow face paint goes up ina rough point above each eyebrow for the cat ears.

Step 2:

Now the fun part! Taking a wide brush, add face paint from a rainbow cake. This will create a 3 color stripe. You will now paint on the kitty's ears. Start each cat ear roughly in line with the inner point of each eyebrow, so that there is a gap between the cat's ears in the middle. Paint a triangle, stopping at the outer point of each eyebrow.

Step 3:

Apply more rainbow face paint to your brush and make 4 or 5 vertical lines in-between the cat ears.

Step 4:

Add a short curved line with the brush from outer corner of eye to high on your cheek. Below this, add 4 or 5 of the vertical lines in a curve towards your mouth for cat fur. You will see that these are then blended a little with the brush.

Step 5:

In the video, she now redefines the cat ears and wide cheek stripes with another application of rainbow face paint.

Step 6:

Now apply white face paint to the upper lip.

Step 7:

Take a fine brush and apply cat hairs with white face paint in the ear triangles. Next add fine white lines to the fur between the ears and at the edges of the cat's cheeks.

Step 8:

Using black face paint on a brush, add the cat's nose in a shallow v shape above the nostrils. Paint a black line from nose to mouth and add a curved black line from outer corner of each mouth to define the edge of the white lip area. Now dot on some tiny black dots for whiskers across your upper lip.

Step 9:

Still using the black face paint, define the edges of the cat face, adding detail to the fine fur lines.

Step 10:

Add fine face glitter between the eyes and down the nose, on each cheek, to the inside of the cat ears, and on the end of the cat's nose. You're done!

It's Time to Add Some Sparkle

Something a little different. This is an Egyptian Cat Eye makeup tutorial from TylerNormantutorials.

The appeal of this face painting design is that it is quite simple but the gold really makes it look luxurious and the Egyptian Cat look is eye-catching.

What cute and clever Cat Face Paintings. I made a kitty cat costume for my daughter the Halloween she was 3 and drew 'whiskers' on her face with an eyebrow pencil... that's as close as I've ever come to trying face painting. What an 'art'. Well done!

Indigo Janson (author) from UK on August 01, 2010:

Wow! These are impressive! My daughter dressed as Cat Woman during her teen years. Of course she was beautiful, but I only drew whiskers on her cheeks with my eyebrow pencil. She probably would have loved a more detailed design, but ......... Awesome lens!

Terrific!
