I try new mediums, styles, subjects or themes, that's being an artist. I don't claim to be the best, but it comes from my heart.
A favorite subject to Paint
I'm starting out with my favorite subject, the horse.
This painting “Foal and Butterfly” is my signature painting. It's been displayed on different products by clients who purchased the rights for a period time.
This painting has been displayed in many shows, and awarded prizes.
I might not be the best artist, but my heart is in it. I’ve tried to present my animal art in the best way I know....and representing my name Delia<><
Art from the Heart; a Living Memory
Memory of painting this foal...or the lack of memory
The story behind this painting.
A friend from Colorado allowed me to use a photograph of her chin resting foal for the painting subject. She has Quarter Horses and some of the most beautiful headed ones. When I saw this photograph, the first thing I imagined was a Butterfly sitting on the fence with the foal resting his chin, just looking at the Butterfly. .
At the time I was painting the details of the fur, I didn’t have the right brush for detail I wanted, so it was a real struggle. I do remember starting with the muzzle and accidentally smudging a spot, using my finger to wipe it. Surprisingly this made the muzzle look real and soft...the temptation to paint over was great, but I left it and moved on.
Honesty, up to this day, I don‘t remember painting this whole painting...I suppose because I had so many challenges. When I finished, I looked at it and asked myself, now how did you do that?
My style now has evolved from detail to more of a looser style...I’d like to go to impressionistic at some point.
This 16" x 20" acrylic painting was displayed at a show for a month, and when I went to pick up my 44 paintings I didn’t notice it missing, until I went to another show to hang my art.
It took me two years to find it, and by accident at that...someone had placed it inside behind one of my other framed paintings (they where stuck together) I have no idea why they did that, maybe they liked the frame more then the painting...I’m glad for that. Good thing I changed frames and found it.
I don’t know if I’ll ever let this painting go, maybe it’s meant for me to keep. In the past this image had been licensed out in the past for Garden Flags and other products. Occasionally I license this image to other vendors...now it can be seen and purchased on items through me at CafePress.
Mom and Margret
The painting above was from a 4" x 4" black and white old photo of my mother in Sarasota Florida, at the Winter Grounds for the Ringling Brother Circus 1934. I have always wanted to paint this image, but could not imagine it in color.
This is a 16" x 20" done with only four colors of acrylics. This time a very loose style, because I was painting for myself without pressure. Working first on the horse and then mom, then coming to the third layer...something inside of me told me to stop, and I did, liking the appearance.

Mules at a Parade “In their Glory”
On the day of 9-11 I was working on this painting, adding the flag in memory of those lost lives. This 16" x 20" painting “In their Glory” of Mules, is a scene at a Parade in Wisconsin.
It was accepted into the prestigious AAEA show and the Midwest Horse Fair art show where it placed second.
These larger sized paintings, I always incorporate a very small Cherub or Angel, then only revealing it to the person that purchases it.

Painting in a different vain
This acrylic 16" x 20" painting of a Friesian was started with an idea in mind, as I proceeded I realized quickly that I was not going to accomplish my goal. I changes the brickwork slightly...but still looks the same. I might change the background and lighting when I have a correct vision of what I’m trying to accomplish ...
The horse is exactly how I wanted, floating in the air with power... I did not use any black on the horse (actually I never use black) but layered colors of blues and browns, they make the black.
Troika...."Morning Attack" For Sale
Troikas, one of my favorite subjects that I’ve always enjoyed painting, maybe because of my Grandfather living in St.Petersberg Russia for many years.
The painting displayed here, won first place at the Midwest Horse Fair and second place at another art show...including many Gallery displays.

Seriously, that Fresian that you used the layers of blue and brown... that christmas card and your 911 mules in their glory- wow, breathtaking! Beautiful paintings, I like horses and this time when I went down to Goa to see my family, I got an opportunity to ride a horse. You've done an amazing job with those paintings and great idea to put the US flag as a backdrop in the painting you used in the Introduction...good stuff! :)

You art is Stunningly Gorgeous!!! I am so very pleased to give this lens my Angel Blessings! I love the faces of the wolves in "His Catch." I don't normally like art that shows the prey, but in this case, it is just so beautiful, that my eyes are not drawn to his meal. I have a friend who loves horses and I hope she sees this lens featured on my Squid Angel Mouse Tracks lens:) I'm sure she will!
