A Simple Heartwarming Gift Idea for Moms

This is a gift that you can never open....As it is full of Love inside. This really is the Best Homemade Gift for Mothers Day, a unique and beautiful kids craft activity, helping to teach them about the gift of giving and about Love. And letting the recipient know exactly how much they mean to you. It is a very easy and quick to make, and it was a favorite classroom activity with the kids in the classroom as a time filler for those tricky end of term holidays.

Nothing is more special than this Special Gift they can fill with their love, especially made for the ones they love.

Encouraging the children to think about giving and receiving, and the meaning of giving gifts.

Whether it be for a birthday, mothers day or fathers day....for any special occasion or person you wish to give the Gift of your Love that they can keep close to their heart forever, then this special present with a poem about love, is so simple but oh so cute and will mean so much to the recipient.

Filled with my love

In a box...

I first made this with the help of my mother, a box filled with love, really its filled with confetti, and my mum made us "bless" the confetti with our love, before we sealed the box, with the most beautiful poem attached to it.

And now, 37 years later, and as a family, finding it tough financially this year, and thinking of what to buy family members and friends for Christmas, I decided to show my own daughter who is 10 years old how to make it too, and to share the idea for others in a similar situation.

This was a great acitivity to sit down and complete together, and sometimes when the world is so consumed with computers, technology, iPods...it was lovely to sit at the kitchen table with her, like I used to do with my mother.

Here is the Poem

To:

This is a very special gift

That you can never see

The reason that it's special

It's just for you from me

Whenever you are lonely

Or when you're feeling blue

You only have to hold this

gift and know I think of you

You never can unwrap it

Please leave the ribbon tied

Just hold this box close to your heart

It's filled with love inside

A Box Filled With Love

  3. use a hole punch to allow you to attach the Poem to the wrapped box.
  4. Tie the ribbon round the Box threading through the Poem, like a tag.

Kids Craft essentials - Laminator

Throughout the years, the amount of certificates, cute notes, and pictures you are given grows, but how many do you loses?

I keep all the special ones, in a folder, and laminate. To keep them in good condition. Having them laminated helps to protect them, and when people come to visit, my goodness they get to see the whole lot, it is a very cheap option and keeps everything neat.

kids love to show off, and this in turn gives them confidence. Rebecca is very proud of her achievements and we are very proud she keeps such a good record of them.

I received a commercially made box that was a magnet years ago, from my dear sister, who has now passed on. Everyday I look at that magnet on my refrigerator and remember the love we have for each other. This is a beautiful lens, and I'm planning on making one to send in a box of other things for my daughter in Afghanistan. Thank you so much!

@Wednesday-Elf: Oh how nice can a comment get? I don't want to write on top of this one. And a blessing to boot, makes for a loving Squid Angel gift on this sweet and love filled lens. x

Wednesday-Elf from Savannah, Georgia on September 16, 2010:

What a lovely idea and thoughtful gift -- nothing better than a "Gift of Love".

We were 'out-of-work' one year and Christmas was expected to be 'lean'. Our 3 children were 8-16 years old then and what we came up with for exchanging gifts was 'a gift of ourselves'. We each (mom & dad included) made construction paper 'gift certificates' to give each other -- promises like "this certificate ... when redeemed ... will mean I will do your kitchen washing dishes chore for an entire week!" Simple things that cost nothing except a bit of 'time', but the love & caring meant a lot to the recipient. Your idea is wonderful and passing the tradition down to your daughter will continue it. Lovely. ~~SquidAngel blessed~~

Lee Hansen from Vermont on August 23, 2010:

The best and most meaningful gifts are not costly - a gift of love, home made card or a lovely idea like this make a lasting impression and have so much meaning to both the giver and the receiver.

puzzlerpaige on August 23, 2010:

I've seen these boxes before and always thought they were really neat. Thanks for providing the poem. I'm going to add this to my Inexpensive Christmas Gifts lens. It's a treasure for grandparents!
