The Coffee-Can Birdhouse
Have you checked out the prices on bird houses lately? They can really put a dent in your pocket book if you’re looking for just the right one. I however have found the perfect project to solve that problem for you. There is nothing that I love more than cheap, easy and colorful and this coffee can birdhouse is about as cheap, easy and colorful as it gets. Anyone who has ever visited my garden knows that there is nothing that I adore more than whimsical. Fairies, gnomes, colorful dragonflies and lizards will always have a place in my heart and my garden.
The coffee-can birdhouse is simple to build, costs under $10 to make. It will make a wonderful addition to any garden. I know it has made one in mine. Happy Birding!
Here's What You'll Need:
Small piece of yard branch
Vitamin or spice Bottle cap
1. Remove all stickers from coffee can.
2. Cut hole in can and paint with desired color
3. Drill hole for perch and attach proper size yard branch
4 Paint the utility light (roof) with chosen color.
5. Glue bottle cap to top of roof and decorate as desired

its going to get really hot in there. use ceramics or wood for bird houses. this material is good for feeders.

Very cute but I am thinking that if a bird uses this it would be much like living in a house trailer in Miami with no air conditioning on a 90 degree day. Its going to get really hot inside this bird house during nesting time for the mother bird and the babies...It is really a great idea but I see it as more decorative due to the lack of insulation against the sun.
