Spring into crafting!

Help the kids explore all aspects of the season with these Spring Craft Ideas. It's a great way to while away a rainy afternoon or even a sunny one. You don't need any specialist supplies, just things you probably already have around your house such as paper and paint. Get as creative as their imagination allows by turning paper plates into nests and macaroni into adorable sheep. Check out these ideas for inspiration for you and your little ones.

Rainy Days

Rainy Days

Show them that a rainy day can be fun with this piece of art. Cut out a triangle from glitter yellow card to make the raincoat and stick this onto white paper. You can cut out an umbrella shape from paper and boots to add to the scene and paint them accordingly. Once it is all assembled, paint big blue raindrops over it and add a silver cloud.

Kids love texture so help them to make this multimedia cloud. You will cut out a cloud shape from blue paper and then help them to stick cotton balls onto this. Once dry you can stick it to a Popsicle stick and they can use this as a prop for story telling or whatever other play activity they want.

Make a fun butterfly snack to brighten up their lunch. You'll need plastic sandwich bags, and a clothes peg and pipe cleaners. Fill one half of the bag with little crackers and the other with grapes. Divide it in half with a clothes peg and add butterfly features.

Make colorful flowers with Popsicle sticks, pom poms, cupcake wrappers, and construction paper. Begin by sticking yellow paper into cupcake wrappers and then stick different colored pom poms onto this. Then trace this onto colored card to make your petals which it will then be stuck onto.

Make a fun rain cloud craft with white paper, blue plastic and blue paper. Cut out a cloud shape from white paper. Then cut out squares in blue to stick onto this. Now make streamers from blue plastic which will be stuck onto the cloud to represent rain falling. This is a great craft for pre-schoolers.

Teach kids about recycling with these fun bottle flowers. Cut a soda bottle in half and stick to card. Get your child to paint the bottle. Make stems from straws and then use bottle caps to make petals. Add leaves by cutting out leaf shapes from white paper.

This fun nest is created with brown crepe paper. Make 3 chirping birds with paper and one can even be made from a foot print. Add the letter N to turn this into a fun alphabet craft.

Macaroni Sheep

Make this cute sheep with a coaster and 2 clothespins painted black for the legs. Paint macaroni white and stick this to it. Cut out a sheep's head from black paper and add googly eyes.

Transform egg cartons into flowers by painting them in bright colors. Use straws and green paper to make the stems and leaves and then stick these inside of the carton.

Make a cute April shower craft by cutting a paper plate in half and turning it into an umbrella. You can add some cotton wool as trim. Make the handle by cutting a J shape from craft paper and use a flower shaped hole puncher to make the flowers which are strung with thread onto the umbrella.

Make a fun cherry blossom by painting a tree with branches onto pink paper. Next, stick popcorn onto this to make the 'blooms'.

For an excellent hand and foot print craft, make this colorful Parrot that would brighten any room. Use red, blue, yellow and green paint and make a beak from orange construction paper. Add googly eyes to finish the project.

Since Easter falls in Spring, you can also make Easter themed crafts. Make a bulletin board with large paper plates and children's handprints for the grass. Let the kids draw the eyes on the bunnies and glue the ears on.
