Seamless Yellow Baby Sweater Dress. Free Knitting Pattern!

I love to knit but I prefer seamless knitting. It makes me more comfortable to knit. When I start to knit, I avoid seams as much as I can because it looks like a kind of challenge for me. Moreover, the idea of knitting in the round instead of seaming is a plus point of interesting. Perfect seaming techniques can make knitting staff looks no-seam but it is better to avoid for beginners.

This seamless yellow baby sweater dress is mostly used flat knitting and a little bit knitting in the round for short sleeves of the yellow part. I used 100% cotton yarn for this sweater dress and decorated with cables. I also added how-to knit cables videos for beginners' handy. Enjoy your knit and have fun!

Sanny5147 on February 14, 2020:

Me again regarding Row 14. Why are the cables not all paired as F & B? The second repeat is for two c4f, followed by two c4b, not

matching a f and b. Also, how many repeats for each and total number of cables? I counted 10 on the picture, but at this point, I am not sure of anything. I am trying very hard to knit this for my great grand daughter, but after starting over 3 times, I am ready to give up if my issues are not addressed. Thank you.

Sanny5147 on December 19, 2019:

On Row 14, is it safe to assume that the knit sts. are knitted as knit sts. as instructed for the purls?

Sandhya on July 19, 2019:

Thanks a lot christi, it came out well for my grand daughter. I had also made the seamless reversible too which also came out very well. Ur instructions are very well written

Cilla on July 19, 2019:

I want to knit this yellow baby sweater dress for my granddaughter. Before starting any patterns, i usually read through the pattern. I don't know if I have missed something, but I cannot see what I do for rows 37, 38, 39 and 40.

Linda bakker on March 05, 2018:

Lesley Fields on January 07, 2017:

I don't know how many times I tried to do this pattern it keeps looking wrong. I had to rip it out. I wasted my day for 3 days. I give up doing it.

Christy Hills (author) on July 16, 2015:

Hi Chomphoo, you are absolutely right. It has an error when I count the times. In Row 63, the times should be 9. For Row 64, the times should be 10. Thanks for telling me. I already corrected in the instructions. Take a look.

Chomphoo on July 15, 2015:

Hello Chirsty,

I want to ask you about row 63 i think some thing not right. ( or i make a mistake )

Row 63: K6, P4, K2, *(P7, K1), repeat * 10 times, P7, Pfb, P6, K2, P4, K6. (119 sts)

if i count all stitches will be 127 sts.

and for the next row is,

Row 64: K4, P2, K4, P2, *(K7, P1), repeat * 11 times, K7, P2, K4, P2, K4.

Please explain to me. Thank you

Christy Hills (author) on October 14, 2014:

Hi Carters, If your gauge is 5 sts per inches, US size 5 or 6 is OK for the pattern.

Caters on October 12, 2014:

I have knitted with size 3 and 4 needles using worsted weight yarn and it ends up really tight despite the thick yarn because of small needles. Because of this the minimum size I ever use for worsted weight it size 5.

My gauge for US 5-8(maybe up to 9 or 10) is 5 sts per inch.

Given this will the dress still be 12-24 months if I use size 5 needles or size 6?

Christy Hills (author) on September 14, 2014:

Hi Tammey, Thanks

Tammey on September 14, 2014:

Christy Hills (author) on December 03, 2013:

Hi pradnya, You are right. Just purl on the wrong side. Pfb is for incresing 1 st. No need to increase again on the wrong side.

pradnya on December 03, 2013:

Hi Christy.. thanks for posting this pattern. .quick question. .could you please explain how to knit the pfb stiches on wrong side?..do you just purl those on the wrong side too..for rows like 11, 13 etc. Thanks for your guidance on this

pegboggs@gmail.com on November 07, 2013:

I love the little white & yellow dress but I am having a problem. When I add stitches the neat side ends up on the WS of the dress and also where it should be smooth knitted side it is WS again. I have done a lot of knitting but this one has me flabbergasted. I have done it 8 times and it always turns out the same and I rip it out again. Please HELP!!!!

Corina on April 17, 2013:

thank you. I was waiting for your reply. Now I can continue. Just to know I put the question also on Ravelry.

Your videos are very useful. Please continue adding others.

Christy Hills (author) on April 17, 2013:

Hi Corina, Thanks for asking. Up to Row 36 are right, Row 37=Row19, Row 38=Row20, Row39=Row15, Row 40=Row16. Every 6 row, you have to make cables. Enjoy.

Corina on April 17, 2013:

Hi, a question. You said repeat from row 15 to 20, but the math is not good. So the following is happening.

R 21 = R15

R 22 = R16

R 23 = R17

R 24 = R18

R 25 = R19

R 26 = R20, without the ending

R 27 = R15

R 28 = R16

R 29 = R17

R 30 = R18

R 31 = R19

R 32 = R20, without the ending

R 33 = R15

R 34 = R16

R 35 = R17

R 36 = you described the row 36

R 37 = R18?

R 38 = R19?

R 39 = R20?

R 40 = R15?

Thank you
