Another Pair Completed

This pair of socks is also knit using self striping yarn...It is knit with a two inch rib of knit 2 purl 2 . It is then knit in the round for a total of 7 inches measuring from the cast on edge...

The heel in this pair of socks is the Fish Lips Kiss pattern,by Sox Therapist...This has become my favorite heel pattern...The pattern for this heel is not free..However, it is well worth the $1.00 purchase price for the downloadable pattern..If you click on the link above it will take you to the site to get the pattern/directions...

After the heel was completed I continued knitting in the round for the desired length of my foot less two inches ..At this point I started the decreases for the toe. And then finished off with a Kitchener stitch.

This pair of socks was knitted using a US 1..9" circular knitting needle.

How to do the Kitchener Stitch

Knit Socks

Knitting socks have become a popular trend.

There are several ways to knit socks. All equally as effective. After trying some of the following methods you will settle into the one that fits your needs and is most comfortable for you. But don't be afraid to try each method..I am so glad that I did.

I believe that any one of these methods can be used for the beginning level sock knitting. Including knitting - socks - and - free - patterns

DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES:..This form of knitting is done using 4 or 5 needles that are pointed on each end. When using four needles you will be working in a triangular shape ,although creating a circular tube. Three needles form a triangle and the fourth needle is your working needle as you work around. When using five needles it will appear as you are working in a square fashion, although it is circular as in a tube, four needles form the shape of a square the fifth needle being your working needle as you work your way around the square. This is the first method that I learned. I still use it at times..I use it mostly when Knitting Hats.

MAGIC LOOP is a method of knitting with a very long circular needle as you knit a very small circumference while knitting in the round.

TOE UP: Most commonly socks are knit starting at the cuff and worked down to the toes. Using the TOE UP method you would begin at the toe working up to the cuff. The advantage of working this method is that you can try them on as you go and there are no seams to join.

TWO AT A TIME: Knitting two socks at once using the magic loop method on either a a single very long circular needle or two very long circular needle of the same size. The advantage of this method is that you avoid what is commonly known among knitters "THE SECOND SOCK SYNDROME". Which means you have finished one sock and now you need to start all over and do the other one, when all the while you really what to dive into that new ball of yarn you purchased and start a new pair of socks or other project.

Identical Socks

Beautiful REGIA Sock Yarns

Arne & Carlos have the best idea yet for the perfect matching sock every time.

You have knit the first sock and are ready to move forward with it's mate.

Wow..at times, well most times it can be a challenge to find the exact place on the yarn to get it to match up with the first sock..When that happens, you end up having your stripes, pattern in different places on the sock..Sometimes it is fun to have them different, nothing wrong with that..But when you do want them to match, well..you know...Just when you have things just were you want them, only to find out that the second cake of yarn was wound in the opposite direction..

The REGIA PAIRFECT sock yarn line by ARNE & CARLOS has taken the guess work out for you..And the it is beautiful.

I am sure you will love it as much as I do.

It is great for beginners, intermediate or advanced knitters!
