Materials and Tools:
- (1) sheet of 3/4” plywood
- wood glue
- (1) yard quilted ironing board fabric (heat resistant)
- T50 staples
- (1) 24” piano hinge
- (1) 30” piano hinge
- 2-1/2” cabinet screws
- measuring tape
- framing square
- straight ruler
- optional: router with roundover bit
- drill driver
- pocket hole jig and screws
- staple gun

Time: Less than 1/2 day
Cut and lay out all pieces according to cut list using a jigsaw.
A: (1) 2' x 3' piece of 3/4" thick plywood
B: (2) 1' x 1' piece of 3/4" thick plywood
C: (1) 2 3/8" x 3' piece of 3/4" thick plywood
D: (1) 1' x 3' piece of 3/4" thick plywood
Wood Strips Cut List:
E: (1) 1x2 x 29-1/4"
F: (1) 1x2 x 22-1/2"
G: (1) 1x2 x 6-1/2"
H: (1) 1x2 x 12-1/2"
I: (1) 1x2 x 12-3/4”
J: (1) 1x2 x 17-3/4"
K: (1) 1x2 x 21-1/2"
*Cut wood strips 1-1/2" wide at approximately 12'.
Lay out each B items, and use mensuration tape and pencil to measure as shown (Image 1)
Cut with a jigsaw. Lay out piece A, and build measurements with a ruler and pencil. (Image 2)
Cut With Jigsaw
Use the diagram to chop on measurements on piece A with a jigsaw (Images 1 and 2). sleek edges with a router with round over bit. sleek the 2 sides and front edges (Image 3). Optional: Take each B items, and spherical over the front 3 edges.
Drill Pocket Holes + Attach
Drill three to four pocket holes in the top of piece D with a pocket hole jig (Image 1). Then, attach piece C to piece D with pocket screws and wood glue (Image 2).
Attach Piano Hinge
Cut the 24" piano hinge in half with a hacksaw (Image 1). Attach both B pieces to piece D with the piano hinges (Image 2).
Attach Support Pieces
Lay out support pieces E through K. Drill and attach with wood glue and pocket screws following the diagram (Images 1 and 2).
Attach Piece A to Piece D
Attach piece A to piece D with the 30" piano hinge. Orient for downward movement. Paint or stain table if desired, and let dry.
Attach Heat-Resistant Cover
Cut fabric following Images 1-4. Attach the cover to fit the board using a staple gun and T50 staples (Image 5).
Mark Mounting Holes
Mark mounting holes according to the stud spacing (normally 12" or 16" spacing).
Attach to Wall
Attach to wall with 2-1/2” cabinet screws through piece D, preferably into studs.
