How To Stop Your T Shirt Moving Out Of Place When Screen Printing

Getting Your Print Right

Recently I have been teaching my self how to screen print. A big problem I have had is that I often do a print and then I lift the screen up to discover the design has not been printed correctly. After you lift the screen up it is pretty much impossible to line the screen and t shirt up in exactly the same place and if you try to do another print and it is not correctly lined up the print will not look right at all. I have left an image below so that you can see what I mean. To me I find the print kind of looks blurry when you make this error. There is actually a very simple solution to this problem and I wish I was able to figure it out earlier.

The Solution

The solution to this problem is to purchase a product called spray tack or spray adhesive and then before you put your t shirt onto your screen printing press your spray it with the spray and then load your t shirt on as per usual. You have around 1-2 minutes to get your t shirt into the correct place before it sticks. The great thing about this product is that it sticks to the t shirt enough that you shouldn't have any problems with it moving out of place however when it is time to remove the t shirt it comes off very easily and leaves no residue. You can get some adhesive spray made especially for screen printing however I picked mine up from the hardware store for around $10.

Conclusion

Anyway thanks a lot for checking out my post. I plan to write some more articles soon about screen printing from home and making most of the equipment yourself to save money and test things out. I am making my screens my self and also my screen printing press so stay tuned for that. I have also included a video below explaining this in a little more detail.
