Lace knitting is a form of knitting that uses a yarn over(adds a stitch) technique as well as a decrease (take away a stitch), the two stitches are used together to create a design. The yarn over creates a hole in the knitting, whereas, the decrease is then used to keep the piece at its correct size. Most lace is made with a single yarn.
Lace : Is a pattern that is worked leaving larger areas (holes) surrounded by a thin area of knit work, leaving the piece with an open and airy feel.
Eyelet : An eyelet pattern is a patterned piece in which small holes are worked into the pattern , but, it is less airy than lace with a more solid look.
Loop Knitting : Consists of loops that are created by forming a cluster of long stitches, usually in the center of the piece. Open and airy surrounded by more of a solid look.
Fringe : Long and sometimes loopy lengths of yarn added to the hem or outer edge of your project. Adding fringe adds length.
Tricot : Instead of following a single row, which is the norm for knitting, tricot follows a column. So that the yarn zig zags vertically.
Faggoting : It is very much like netting..It is a very open lace..Created by using a yarn over or a decrease in every stitch..
