There is something so special about sharing a part of yourself through art, I find so much healing in all things art and creativity. Creativity has always been an integral part of my healing protocol.
It is just as special and meaningful when you can find healing in the words of others. This activity encourages you to create a piece of art that uses your favorite quote.

What's Your Favorite Quote?
Why do we even have favorite quotes?
What is it about our favorite words that help us?
We can buy just about anything, from magnets to pillows, with our favorite quote on it and there’s a reason that we do that.
Certain quotes that are our favorites are our favorite because they help us in many ways.
Step 1: Choose Your Favorite Quote
With access to the internet these days, there's no need to dig through all those books to find a quote that inspires you. Today with social media tools like Pinterest we can collect thousands of your favorite quotes and have access to them whenever you need.
You may already have one hanging in your home or on your refrigerator. You can certainly choose any quote you want, but I would love for you to choose one that really speaks to you.
2. Collage or Use Another Method to Complete Your Quote Activity.
There is no right or wrong way to complete this quote activity.
Take the words from someone else and turn it into something visually-inspiring.
You can cut the letters out of different magazines.
You can paint a background, allow it to dry, then using stencils, design your quote onto the paint background.
You can collect different images that speak to you, and use those as a background to highlight your quote.
Look inside myself to see what feelings and images emerged when you thought of the quote.
Start collecting that type of imagery.
Narrow those down to only the few that truly capture the quote's essence.
You can also simply capture the feeling of the quote through the use of color, texture or just random patterns and shapes that appeal to you.
There is no right or wrong way to do this activity.
Art is a big duster!

Art might be a good feather duster. I am a huge advocate of utilizing the power of art and creativity for improving emotional and mental health.
This is why I am sharing these different activities over the next few days. It has been a challenging time, and as I have found these simple activities to be beneficial to me, I wanted to share them with this community as well.
Everyday life can be very trying and tiring. When things don’t go as planned we can get discouraged.
But we don’t want to be discouraged. So we find words by others to help—quotes.
How Our Favorite Quotes Help Us
- They validate us.
- They tell us we aren’t alone.
- They empower us and declare how value we are to ourselves as well as to the rest of the world.
- Things happen to us in life that drag us down, and drain us.. People say stuff that tears us down. We beat ourselves up when we fall short of our own expectations.
- Those negative words tear away at our value and hinder our abilities. Wounds in our soul that have yet to be healed are broken open by a situation and we find ourselves emotionally bleeding again.
Our Favorite Quotes Help Us By Comforting Us.
We all deal with pain, whether it be physical or emotional. We need comfort. We love to read words that provide a kind of hug.
Our Favorite Quotes Provide a Reminder.
Know that list of things that you always said you were going to do, but somehow forgot? Then you see a poster somewhere with a quote that reminds you of all the things you said you wanted to do....but somehow life got in the way.
Everyday life can be extremely distracting and we forget the important things we want in our lives. We need to be reminded of what we’re aiming for with words that make us go—yes!

Words are powerful. They carry life or they carry death.
