A fun poll

Spring time Bunny

Spring is my favourite time of year, my girls and I love observing the myriad of flowers and blossoms bursting into life. As a crafter, I start thinking about projects for the year ahead, and what I would like to achieve.

I designed this pattern with my girls in mind, I also love the creating miniature clothes to accompany my creations. This pattern is fairly easy for a beginner to crochet, it works with the principle of amigurumi. Some basic sewing skills are required to make the outfit too.

What you need to begin

I have dreams of making a whole family of bunnies using my pattern, maybe you will beat me to it?

UK crochet terminology, to translate hook sizes please look here

  • dk yarn using a size 4 hook
  • darning needle
  • embroidery needle
  • pink & black embroidery floss
  • size 12 mm eyes
  • toy stuffing

Tension isn't too important, but I tend to crochet stitches for amigurumi quite tightly.

Joining + Tail

Put the bunny together

Pin ears to head and sew using a ladder stitch, use this method for the legs.

Embroider the face, and hide ends at the base of bunny's neck.

For the tail, magic ring, 4dc into ring. Now 2dc into each stitch, leave a long tail. Using darning needle, do a running stitch through each dc, stuff tail. Now draw up the yarn tight, and sew to back of rabbit.

Bedtime Nightie

For the Nightie, I used 2 rectangular pieces of material. There is no pattern for this, but it is so easy to achieve if you use the principles of a 'pillow case dress' click here for a tutorial.

Tuck you lovely bunny up for the night in her own bed. I am planning on making a quilt and a little bed box for her, which should be heading to hubpages soon.

Clothing your Bunny

I have no pattern for the cardigan- but I would be happy to produce one if asked. I made it as I went along. If you are a seasoned crocheter, you could link up a couple of granny squares for the cardi, or create a poncho.

For the skirt, I measured around the waist, and cut material to an inch longer. I then added some lace over the top.

Hem the bottom of the skirt to suit the length you want, then fold 2cm of material at the top for thew elastic/ribbon to go through.

Turn skirt inside out and sew the skirt at the back ( leaving a gap for the elastic)

Thread through the elastic, and sew the two ends of the elastic together. Tuck in ends- and your'e done!
