While I was having a rude conversation with God (I was the rude one), BATRI's design was taking shape inside my head. Batri should have been a cockroach but I don't have dark brown plarn, so I settled for him to be a colorful bug.
The sc's on Batri's body is reinforced with sl st's to be able to hold it's shape. Bugs have rigid body covering after all and Batri is a bug. I also used the whole zipper to serve as Batri's backbone.
The bulging eyes of Batri is embroidered using 12 strands of black sewing thread. The same is done with his teeth.

Sc on the Back Post (scbp)
Single crochet on the back post is just that, a single crochet worked around the back post of a dc instead of being worked on top. The video floating right shows a dc being worked on the back post of a previous dc to show where the back post is.
Sc2Tog
Sc2tog (two single crochets together) is used to decrease the number of sc's in a row or round. This stitch is most helpful when a curved shape is desired as in the body of Batri.
Insert hook in st, draw a loop through, insert hook in next st, draw another loop through, y o, draw through all 3 loops on hook
Abbreviations:
- Ch - chain
- Dc - double crochet
- Sc - single crochet
- Sl st - slip stitch
- Scbp - sc on the back post
- Sc2tog - two sc together

Embroidering the Eyes and Teeth
I tried various buttons for Batri's eyes. It just didn't work because I need something that bulges because Batri is a bug.
After experimenting with various materials in my craft stash, I finally settled with embroidering his eyes and teeth with 12 strands of sewing thread.
The eyes were more difficult to do. If you take a closer look at Batri's eyes, they are not the same. I just passed the threads as many times as needed to make it swell.
Applying the Zipper
Although attaching the zipper seems like a daunting task for some, pinning the zipper properly is the first step to finish Batri's opening.
Carrie Wolf made a really great photo tutorial on applying the zipper and lining a purse.
I LOVE Comments!

It's a very cute coin purse. Love that it is made from plarn. I've yet to put a zipper into anything including my sewing projects. Thanks for sharing this with us.
