How could anyone not be inspired with this rustic pallet wood walkway for the garden, such a very simple project and soooo beautiful, I can't wait to try this and I know just the spot where it will fit in just beautifully with my Edwardian terraced garden.
I have to give a huge shout-out to the Funky Junk Interiors website for this wonderful blog and with such great photographs, it really is a piece of class and jumps to the top of my 'go to' websites for when I'm looking for inspiration.
Now if only our English Summer weather - namely the torrential rain happening right now - would stop then I could get on with this piece of useful garden art.
Handprint Vases
Oh how I wish I had done something like this when my children were small, they are so darling! And easy to make, so easy, who knew? Sometimes the simple things are the things we treasure, treasure your memories, treasure your children because they are too fleeting and they grow up too fast.
Love, love, love, love these!
DIY Heart Friendship Bracelets
I ♥ friendship bracelets - yes I know very corny of me, but there I've said it. But I do love friendship bracelets and I don't think there's many teenage girls out there who don't love them. This is a great thing to get bored kids doing during the up and coming Summer school holidays, and for sleepovers and as part of a party, I always try to include something like this with my daughter and her friends.
This tutorial is beautifully photographed and although to begin with it takes a little bit of getting used to, your fingers will start to fly once you learn the sequence, a bit like learning to knit I suppose. Anyway, this is a lovely thing to make, even better to wear or give as a present, matching ones for your friends, well after all what's a friendship bracelet without a friend to give it to, or make them at the same time for each other, but my advice is - make them!
Confetti / Glitter Eggs
This just has to be one of the most unique and fun things I have found on the internet this year, it looks such fun, both to make and to play with, I know that these little beauties will make any party or festivity go with a bang and lots and lots of laughter. I can't wait to make these, hopefully for my daughter's next birthday party - if you make this for one of your special days please video it, I promise to I will try to do this during the Summer months and will, with permission from the parents, post it for you all to see our fun. This is a simple but fab-u-lous idea and I am so very proud to be able to post it and spread the word, thank you to the Oh Happy Day website for sharing this wonderful, wonderful idea with us all.
Flower Filled Wellies
Well with the weather like it is here you may want to be hanging on to your wellies to wear but if you have a few old ones that are leaking slightly or too small then they will make a colourful and quaint addition to your garden. I just love this idea and the photo reminds me of my own children's amazing ability to lose one wellie, somewhere in the world is a gigantic garden with fences covered in bright colourful lost wellies.
Shoe Storage
There is no website link for this as it was a photo I found on Pinterest and despite an intensive search on the internet I couldn't find the source. However I think it's pretty easy to see how to make this great shoe storage and a visit to any DIY store and you should be able to find the necessary equipment to be able to put this together. It's a win-win with this crafty idea, your shoes are stored away, but you can see them all at a glance and they're kept in perfect condition. Whoever you were that thought of this we are forever in your debt, thank you (of course if anyone knows where this came from please let me know and I will post the link).
Flowery Flower Pots
These cute little pots are incredibly easy to make and although they are not suitable for outdoor use they would look wonderful in your home where you could coordinate them to match the fabrics in your home. Having said that I believe that if you varnished these pots in some way after covering them then they would be fine outdoors too, if anone knows how that could achieved successfully please leave a message in the comments box below as I'm sure other readers would be interested.
My gorgeous girl is going to be 13 later this month and has decided to invite a few of her closest friends over for a sleepover and I've been looking for actuvities that would be fun and in my internet travels I came across this lovely easy bracelet making craft, I just know they'll all get a kick out of this activity and they can turn up at school the next Monday wearing them which will make them all smile, you can't ask for anything more from a lolly/popsicle stick can you?!
Old Towels into New Facecloths
I absolutely hate waste and I always pass on everything I can to charity shops rather than throwing things in the garbage but it never really seemed right to pass on secondhand towels, that may just be me but when I saw this upcycling of old towels I was so pleased, it's a great solution and I can never have too many faceclothes, so if you are wondering what to do with your old towels I can certainly recommend this.
Glitter Gemstone Necklace
Can't find that perfect necklace to match your outfit? Then this should solve your problem and this is definitely an activity I can get my daughter and her friends excited about this month. Cheap to make and an opportunity to let your creative side run wild - bling your accessories to the max!
Led Wedding Name Cards
Okay so I'm getting a little geeky now but trust me these are easy to make and will wow your guests whatever the occasion. For an evening dinner these are so cute and very useful if you are having subdued lighting at your event, a helpful little device with definite wow factor. This is also the perfect way to get the groom and his friends involved in the wedding arrangements if they're feeling a little left out.
Twine Ball Light Garland
I just love this twine ball light garland, it can easily be coordinated with your decor and funky enough to please the fussiest teenager, I was also thinking that these could be made in silver or gold for special wedding anniversary decorations or for holiday lighting at Christmas, whatever you make them for I'm sure they'll be a big hit.
Monster Bookmarks
These funky monster bookmarks are the perfect activity for a rainy day with kids, and they are useful on your cookery books as well as for your children which they will love to make and use, no more need to fold page corners which I have to admit is one of my pet hates.
I now have a huge collection of these as my daughter and her friends loved making them so much, and every time she's bored a few more appear as if by magic - and it is!
DIY Eye Chart
What a great decoration for your home that you can personalise for that special person, such a unique gift, does anyone you know have a special motto that they live by? Or a saying that means a lot tothem? Or perhaps it's a special song? Then turn it into a beautiful gift, it really is the thought that counts.
Hanging Wall Garden

Now this would make just a lovely addition to any garden and will turn a once boring bare space into a lush colourful background, organised and clean this is also the perfect garden for anyone suffering from a bad back who finds it difficult to garden, if you know someone like that then this would make a wonderful gift.
Antique Look for your New Pots
- Antique Your Clay Pots And Add Fall Color!
Antique pots look fantastic, learn how to make your own with this step by step article.
I am lucky enough to have a few antique pots and a Victorian birdbath in my garden which I love, they complement the plants and create a piece of beautiful art. My problem has been finding new pots to fit in that don't stand out like sore thumbs, the only option that worked seemed to be seeking out old pots to buy which turned out an expensive option. Well now I've found this website giving step-by-step instructions to antique and how to get moss to grow on new pots giving them a very authentic aged look, give it a try I'm going to be doing this next week.

And finally my last piece of crafting for June is one where the kids can get involved, get some exercise and fresh air in the process, it also happens to be one of my favourite craft pieces that I've seen lately, so very simple and costing practically nothing, get the kids outdoors on a nature walk to find your perfect stones, twist some covered coloured wire around them and attach your favourite photos, thoughtful gift from children to grandparents perhaps.

Thank you, yes I too have thrown away my children's cute little coloured 'gumboots' and now regret it, think of the color explosion in the garden we could have had all year round.
LongTimeMother from Australia on April 12, 2013:
Hi Eileen. That top photo caught my eye. It is such an Australian-looking fence. I've had fences like that one before, but never thought to nail wellies to it.
When I think of all the lovely little coloured gumboots (gumboots are what australians call wellies) that my kids had over the years, I'm kicking myself for not decorating my garden with them.
Lots of nice ideas in this hub. Voted up. :)
Faythe Payne from USA on April 12, 2013:

Hi alifeofdesign, did you get round to trying out the shoe rack, let me know how yours turned out, I've screwed some little hooks into mine and hang up necklaces and bags in-between my shoes - such a great idea!
Graham Gifford from New Hamphire on October 04, 2012:
It was your rain boot photo that caught my eye, but then I couldn't decide which project I wanted to try first-what fun! Oh sure, I'll have to wait until next sumer on a few of the ideas that you showed us, but in the mean time, I might as well make myself a shoe rack!
Jeff Gamble from Denton, Texas on July 09, 2012:

Gail Sobotkin from South Carolina on June 12, 2012:
Wow! Lots of great ideas. I particularly like the colorful boots used as planters and the idea of turning old towels into facecloths.
I could even see using new towels as facecloths as very often the stores charge nearly as much for a facecloth as they do for a whole towel!
Voted up, useful, beautiful and interesting.

I'm sure you can find some boots in car boot sales, yard sales and in charity shops, luckily I had a few odd ones and ones that had developed a leak and if you ask your friends that have children I can almost (almost) guarantee that they have a few floating around. Mind you after you do your display they may want them back LOL. Thanks for the lovely comments everyone, much appreciated.

Yes they're so sweet, luckily I have a pair of mine that have just sprung a leak and instead of feeling sad about it I'm really quite excited they're going to have a whole new lease of life.
