My late father was an artist, and I remember being impressed with his detailed sketch of a lion. It was as if I could feel and touch the mane. I wonder if he thought of abstract art or created versions of abstract art.

Since he passed away when I was six, I don't think I will ever know. This idea of painting with melted crayons looks appears like fun. I would have been in seventh heaven doing this with my father.

Stephanie from MomDot.com also suggests using an essential oil or vanilla extract to add smell or flavor to the lip gloss. Like lipstick, you don't eat lip gloss.

I stumbled across this idea while looking for arts and crafts with crayons. In a sense, this project is crafty by taking old crayons, melting them down in a muffin pan, and ending up with some cool-looking "new" crayons.

My kids went "Ahh" and "Ohh" when they saw the effects they created on their blank pieces of paper.

My kids collect broken crayons so that they can melt them on rocks. They turn rocks they find into gems. With broken crayons and smooth round rocks, you have almost half the materials. Add an oven, newspaper, oven gloves, and a heat-proof surface, and you’re ready to start. Make sure you remove the paper from the broken crayons.

RedTedArt has well-defined instructions. Ensure an adult supervises this art project because the kids will work with hot rocks and melting crayons. Enjoy!
