Christmas Stockings to Family Heirlooms
If you have checked the prices of purchased Christmas stockings, you know that most of them you could easily make, for a lot less money. I’ve searched for Xmas stocking ideas that included patterns and tutorials. I found many beautiful and simple to make stocking ideas that I will share with you here.
The great thing about making your own Christmas stockings is that you can take more than one idea, combine them and make a unique personalized stocking. You can change the type of fabric, the colors and the enhancements. You can add names, appliqués, beads, buttons and trims.

What great ideas! I think I have everything in my stash except the burlap. lol I've made appliques from "pictures" on material before, too. All you do is cut out the animal or whatever on the material and sew it on the fabric you're working with. Good job and interesting!

I gave my son a burlap stocking when he was about 4 years old. It had a few cutouts glued on the front. He is now 46 and every year that stocking is "hung by the chimney with care." It always warms my heart to see it and realize how special it was to him.
